„Tanzneid“ ist der Titel des neuen Albums der Electronic Metalcore-Band ELECTRIC CALLBOY. Erscheinen wird die Platte am 7. August 2026 via Century Media Records, die Wartezeit verkürzt das Stück „Hypercharged„. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Song für das Mobile-Game „Brawl Stars“.

Die Shrinkflation trifft uns nicht nur im Einzelhandel: Abzüglich der Einspieler und des unnötigem Bonustracks kommt „Press Start“ auf gerade mal acht Songs und 25 Minuten Laufzeit. Das Zweitwerk SAMURAI PIZZA CATs ist somit ein Album im EP-Format, das zwar kaum sättigend ist, dafür jedoch qualitativ zum Besseren gehört, was die Szene dieser Tage hervorbringt.

Jedenfalls dann, wenn man mit der Entwicklung des Quartetts konform geht: Musikalisch lässt die Formation die teils harten Spitzen und aggressiven Bretter von „You’re Hellcome“ (2023) nämlich im Schrank, um die launige, melodiebetonte Seite des eigenen Sounds ins Zentrum zu rücken. Damit einher geht ein stärkerer Fokus auf Sebastian Fischers Klargesang, welcher ein glückliches Händchen für einprägsame Hooks beweist.

Ohrwürmer haben SAMURAI PIZZA CATS zuhauf in der Hinterhand, während gleichzeitig das Modern (Post-)Metalcore-Fundament Einflüsse aus allen Richtungen aufzusaugen scheint. Scratches, futuristische Synthesizer und poppige Akzente mischen den Opener „Pandastruck“ auf, wohingegen „Ramen-Man“ seine schwachbrüstige Bridge durch kauzige J-Pop-Vibes inklusive Gastbeitrag der Idol-Gruppe BABYBEARD wettmacht.

„T-Rex(plosion)“ prägt wiederum der charmante Gesang Jessie Williams‘ (ANKOR), so dass der präsente Alternative-Rock-Einfluss nur eine von vielen Facetten darstellt, die „Press Start“ so kurzweilig werden lässt. Die Electronic-Rock-Hook in „Fear No Slice“ schließlich ist nicht nur tanzbar, sondern trägt tatsächlich einen Hauch ELECTRIC CALLBOY in sich – eine Referenz, die sich in Daniel Haniß‘ Gitarrenarbeit ohnehin immer wieder herauslesen lässt.

Dass bei so viel Wandelbarkeit mit den 80er- und Wave-Ausflügen von „Error 808“ auch ein weniger spannendes Experiment den Weg auf „Press Start“ gefunden hat, lässt sich verschmerzen. Dafür entschädigen SAMURAI PIZZA CATS mit oftmals umso geschmeidigerem Songwriting, das im aufbauenden „Super Zero“ dank seiner catchy Gesangslinie die Grenzen zum Kitsch bewusst auszureizen scheint.

Allein die extremere Seite des Debüts kommt auf dem Folgewerk etwas zu kurz, was der Scheibe letztendlich ein noch schärferes Profil und generell etwas Fleisch auf den Rippen hätte schenken können. Als Album ist „Press Start“ eben laufzeitbedingt auch eine magere Angelegenheit – schließlich versteht man unter der Shrinkflation auf dem Teller für gewöhnlich nicht den unseres Plattenspielers.

Das Vermächtnis von Tomas Lindberg: AT THE GATES  veröffentlichen am 24. April 2026 „The Ghost of a Future Dead„, die Vocals hat Sänger Tompa aufgenommen, als er gesundheitlich bereits schwer von seiner Krebserkrankung gezeichnet war. 

„The Ghost Of A Future Death“ entspricht in jedem Detail dem, was sich Tomas Lindberg gewünscht hatte. AT THE GATES betonen:

„ „The Ghost of a Future Dead” wird am 24. April 2026 veröffentlicht – mehr als zwei Jahre nach seiner Fertigstellung im Studio. Tomas Lindberg ist im vergangenen Jahr aufgrund von Komplikationen seiner Krebsbehandlung verstorben. In den Jahren zuvor haben wir eng mit Tomas zusammengearbeitet, jedes Detail besprochen und ausgearbeitet. Wir wollten sicherstellen, das nichts dem Zufall überlassen wird.

„The Ghost of a Future Dead“  bleibt unserem Stil treu, vom Albumtitel, dem Soundmixes, der Trackreihenfolge, des Artworks und des gesamten Layouts ist alles so, wie es sich Tomas gewüscht hatte. Das Album vereint die ungezähmte Energie und die mitreißenden Melodien, die AT THE GATES ausmachen. Dieses Album ist Tomas‘ Vermächtnis.“

Als letzten Vorab-Videoclip teilte die Band heute „In Dark Distorsion“, auch dieses Video ist eine Vorschau auf den Film oder die visuelle Umsetzung von 2The Ghost Of A Future Dead“ von Costin Chioreanu.

Mit einem Clip zu „The Dissonant Void“ stellten AT THE GATES nun eine weitere Single vor, das Video stammt von Costin Chioreanu, mit dem die Band bereits mehrfach zusammengearbeitet hat.

Das Video zu „The Dissonant Void“ erlaubt einen ersten Einblick in das Albumkonzept, für das Costin Chioreanu Malerei und Filmaufnahmen beisteuerte. Der komplette Film zu „The Ghost of a Future Dead“ soll in Kürze in voller Länge veröffentlicht werden. Für Costin Chioreanu  war es ein außergewöhnliches Projekt:

„‚The Dissonant Void‘ ist erst der Beginn, es entstand ein ganzes Universum aus der Leere, die Tomas so meisterhaft in seinen Texten beschrieben und die die Band auf magische Weise mit ihrer Musik zum Ausdruck gebracht hat. Dieses Video und der komplette Film zu ‚The Ghost of a Future Dead‘ ist meine Hommage an Tomas Lindberg, der als Genie in Erinnerung bleiben wird. Es war eine risengroße Herausforderung, die Tiefe und Dunkelheit seiner Texte und der Musik eines kompletten Albums visuell darzustellen – eines Albums, das zudem das düsterste ist, an dem ich je gearbeitet habe

Den Opener des Albums, „The Fever Mask“, haben AT THE GATES im Februar als erste Single veröffentlicht. Zum Song gibt es ein bewegendes Video, das als Tribut an Tomas Lindberg verstanden werden soll:

„‚The Fever Mask‘ war einer der letzten Songs, die wir für das Album geschrieben haben. Schnell wurde klar, dass dieser  Song der perfekte Opener und auch die erste Single von ‚The Ghost of a Future Dead‘ sein wird. „The Ghost of a Future Dead“ folgt auf „The Nightmare of Being” (2021)  und wurde von Jens Bogren in den Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Schweden, aufgenommen und gemischt. Das Artwork stammt von Robert Samsonowitz.

„The Ghost Of A Future Death“ ist das letzte Album mit Sänger Tomas Lindberg, er starb im September 2025. Er nahm die Vocals für „The Ghost Of A Future Death“ im Frühjahr 2025 auf, bevor er sich einer schweren Operation unterziehen musste.

Er schrieb dazu im März 2025 eine Nachricht an alle Fans. Darin heißt es unter anderem:

Die letzte Version der Gesangsaufnahmen, die auf dem Album zu hören sein wird, habe ich an EINEM Tag aufgenommen, größtenteils in einem Take, am Tag vor der Operation, nur um sicherzugehen, dass wir das Album sozusagen im Kasten haben. Der Gesang wurde also tatsächlich VOR dem Rest des Albums aufgenommen… etwas ungewöhnlich, aber es war ein gutes Gefühl, es hinter uns zu haben.
Wir haben nun beschlossen, nicht länger mit der Veröffentlichung dieses neuen Albums zu warten. Ursprünglich war der Plan, so lange zu warten, bis wir wissen, ob und wann ich wieder singen kann und ob wir das Album auch mit Konzerten unterstützen können. Jetzt, wo die Zukunft etwas ungewisser ist, fühlt es sich gut an, dieses Album zu veröffentlichen.

As we gazed into August skies

Time stood still as we said goodbye

You were the sound that would guide me home

On rainy summer’s nights 

There is something about seeing light in the dark that makes memory misbehave. A passing streetlamp, a blur of headlights, the glow of a city seen through glass at night — suddenly love, loss, and all the years you thought you had outrun come rushing back with their collars up and their hands in their pockets. That is the emotional weather running through Days Go By, the new song from Liverpool duo So, Reverie, where time keeps moving, the past keeps pressing its face to the window, and every bright smear against the black seems to carry another old, yet tender bruise.

And that ache feels earned. Andy Power and Cain Garcia come with the kind of backstory that has scuffed shoes, bad luck, and brotherhood all over it, and Days Go By carries that history in its bones. The song began as a vocal melody and a title left sitting in Power’s phone since 2020, which is exactly where half the best songs live before they find their moment. Years later, during a spell of unemployment and uneasy nights spent demoing after daytime job-hunting, the piece snapped into place around an open-tuned chord progression. Suddenly, the old words had wheels.

Produced with Rob Whiteley at Whitewood Recording Studio, Days Go By moves like a night bus tearing through wet Liverpool streets while somebody in the back is pretending they are fine. The guitars come rushing in with that 2000s indie-rock appetite, the drums kick the track forward, and Power sings like memory has its hands around his collar. You can hear The Cure’s romantic ache, New Order’s forward drive, Slowdive’s blurred horizon, Interpol’s black-suited precision, and Bloc Party’s city-bred adrenaline in the bloodstream, while newer kin like Bleach Lab, NewDad, HighSchool, Sunken, and DIIV hover nearby in the same rain-slicked district of post-punk, dreampop, jangle-pop, indie pop, indie rock, and shoegaze.

The song’s lyrics circle love as tide, weather, wreckage, and seasonal ritual, where change comes slowly, then all at once. Waves alter their shape in their own time; deep seas carry someone away; August skies hold the last heat of a goodbye before the leaves begin to fall. Days Go By understands that romance has seasons too: the bloom, the burn, the long wet summer night, the autumn reckoning. Distance becomes vast and salt-stung, while dreams gather around a love that keeps returning after the door has shut. This is not clean heartbreak. It is the bittersweet afterlife of attachment, the part where the mind keeps holding séances with the past as time insists on moving forward.

“Days Go By is a tune we set out to create with a slightly different feel to our other tracks,” says Power. The difference shows. The gauzy pull of Close My Eyes and Runaway remains, but here it gets shoved into sharper motion, turning nostalgia into a dare with headlights on it.

Laurie Clapson’s Hi8 video knows exactly where this song lives: city lights sliding through blackness, blur, motion, faces, and feeling half-caught by tape hiss and time. Liverpool becomes less backdrop than bloodstream, a place where friendship, frustration, invention, and ambition move under sodium lamps, still looking for the next open road.

Since forming in 2023, So, Reverie have already found support through BBC Introducing North-West, shared stages with HighSchool, Bleach Lab, GIFT, and Heartworms, and sold out The Kazimier Stockroom. Days Go By, out 24 April 2026, suggests their forthcoming six-track debut EP may be where the duo turn private persistence into public velocity: two friends, six strings, drums, and a city’s worth of lights moving faster than regret.

Night has a way of making the world feel newly enchanted and newly dangerous. The familiar road, the old woods, the edge of town, the last little smear of light over the horizon: all of it begins to shift once the first star appears. For Brånd, the Upper Austrian weird/post-black metal project from Linz, that hour becomes a threshold on “Da Erste Stern,” the second single from the forthcoming debut full-length Tåg & Nåcht.

Started in 2015 as the solo project of Vritra, also of Kringa and Weathered Crest, Brånd began as a way to escape perfection and prescribed boundaries. Over the last decade, the project has wandered from crude black metal to lo-fi ambient, from ferocious post-punk to psych downer rock, with split releases alongside underground acts such as Absolute Key, Calvary, and Rosa Nebel. Now joined by other musicians to push old and new ideas further, Brånd’s first full-length has grown out of 4-track demos collected over the years, expanding the project’s raw beginnings into something far more richly arranged.

“Da Erste Stern” opens with a fuzzy bass throb, glowing key sighs, and bell-like chimes, setting a tone that feels somber, romantic, and faintly ceremonial. It has the feeling of entering some candle-lit inner chamber, or stumbling into an elven forest where the moss gives off its own private light. There is also something of the wide-open rural night in it, the kind of night with little light pollution, where the Milky Way seems to breathe across the black veil above the fields.

The song takes its time before fully revealing itself. When the guitars arrive, they cascade rather than merely crash, carrying a shudder of old German punk and post-punk through the track’s more sacred, ritualistic mood. The vocals scrape and declaim, but their abrasion is softened by the song’s strange devotional pull, with layered harmonies pushing the piece toward something communal and spellbound. Somewhere in the mix, one can hear echoes of The Cure around the Faith era, a bit of Lowlife’s romantic gloom, the stern punk ache of EA80, old prog rock, krautrock, and a pagan folk-metal instinct that recalls Isengard.

That may sound like too many ingredients for one cauldron, but Brånd makes it feel weirdly natural.

The video for “Da Erste Stern,” filmed in a hazy blue wash, deepens the song’s nocturnal spell. It opens with a crescent moon glimpsed through bare branches, as if the camera has found a secret aperture into the night. From there, the imagery moves between blurred lights, wooded darkness, candlelit interiors, and spectral performance footage. The band appears kaleidoscopic through fog and soft focus, surrounded by amplifiers, candles, framed pictures, and an almost chapel-like haze. At times, the performers look less like a band playing in a room than figures caught in some private rite, their instruments and microphones half-swallowed by cobalt mist and small red points of light.

There are images of branches, reflections, stone steps, glowing walls, and what appears to be a miniature gothic landscape, with wrought-iron forms and a purple-blue sky looming behind them. The camera lingers on hands, strings, faces, and smoke until the border between outdoor night and indoor ritual begins to dissolve. Everything seems damp, blurred, and enchanted, like a memory of a show played in a forest shrine after midnight. It is a fitting visual companion to a song that treats darkness as both a landscape and a state of mind.

Der Verfasser ist weder Pharmazeut noch Biologe, diese Gaben besitzt seine geliebte Ehefrau. Dass Atropine in Nachschattengewächsen wie Alraune, Stechapfel und Tollkirsche vorkommen und sie einerseits verflucht giftig sind, andererseits aber aus der Medizin nicht wegzudenken ist, das musste erst nachgelesen werden. Schön, wenn diese Analogie auf die Musik angewendet werden kann. ASTRAYA nennen ihr zweites Album „Atropine“ und wecken damit Raum für Assoziationen. Für Heaviness und Harmonie, die gleichberechtigt nebeneinander und sich auch verweben, ist das ein durchaus schönes Bild.

ASTRAYA schaffen auf „Atropine“ auch in kurzen Songs beeindruckende Spannungsaufbauten.
Wirklich giftig klingt die Band aus Stuttgart auf ihrem zweiten Album allerdings nicht. Ist sie also ein eher Mittel gegen den Weltschmerz? „Atropine“ mäandert jedenfalls zwischen THE GATHERING zu Zeiten von „The West Pole“, späten ANATHEMA und zeitgenössischen Künstlerinnen wie ELLEREVE. Das verspricht emotionale Musik zwischen Progressive und Post Rock mit einem Hauch Metal. Schon die Eröffnung „A Spark Within“ entwickelt sich in dreieinhalb Minuten von einem reduzierten Stück hin zu einem leidenschaftlich-epischen Stück, bei dem die Gitarren sich umgarnen, ohne auf Twin-Leads zu setzen, während die Rhythmus-Einheit subtil aber bestimmt groovt und Sängerin Melina Abele in sphärische Höhen vordringt.

Dass „Lighthouse“ recht beherzt mit schweren Riffs beginnt und dann eine melodiösere, luftigere Richtung nimmt, funktioniert ebenso gut, wie „In Devotion“, das leise und träumerisch startet, dann zunehmend heavier wird und in ein Gitarrensolo mündet, das ebenso leidenschaftlich und verspielt ist, wie Ricardo Amorims Soli bei MOONSPELL. Hier und auch im folgenden „A Theory Of Time“ klingt Melina Abele nach Silje Wergeland bei THE GATHERING, durch Stimmfärbung und Melodieführung und verschafft mehr als nur einmal Gänsehaut. Der Song schafft ebenso wie die Stücke zuvor, in relativ kurzer Zeit einen starken Aufbau und fließt organisch ein sehr emotionales Finale. Überhaupt schaffen ASTRAYA viele gute Steigerungen, sie es in „Desendant Of A Dead Man“ oder „Valley Of The Dead Part II“.

Etwas mehr Selbstbewusstsein und etwas weniger Understatement hätte „Atropine“ gutgetan, denn ASTRAYA haben viel Talent.
ASTRAYA feilschen nicht um Aufmerksamkeit und bleiben häufig zurückhaltend, und hier hätte „Atropin“ etwas offensiver und mutiger sein dürfen, denn die fünfköpfige Band hat viel zu bieten. Gerade in der zweiten Hälfte verlieren sich ASTRAYA dadurch zwischendurch immer wieder in der Gleichförmigkeit. Melina Abele, so schön ihre Stimme auch über den Songs schwebt, hätte etwas mehr Variation liefern dürfen, einige Songs fließen zu unaufgeregt vor sich hin und nicht immer hat die Band die Heaviness im Griff: „In The Pale Glow Of Torches“, wirkt mit seinen abrupten Tempo- und Stimmungswechseln zwischendurch etwas konfus, fängt sich aber wieder und fließt mit tollen Harmonien dem Ende entgegen. Gitarrist Tim Suske, der als Soundingenieur für den Mix zuständig ist, lässt das „Atropine“ organisch wirken, etwas wuchtiger und differenzierter hätte das Soundbild aber sein dürfen.

Das Atropin steht auf der Liste der unentbehrlichen Arzneimittel der WHO. Ist nun auch „Atropine“ ein unentbehrliches Album geworden? Nicht zwingend. Aber nicht falsch verstehen: ASTRAYA haben wirklich schöne und auch bewegende Momente auf ihrem Album stehen und stellenweise müssen die Hörer*innen ein wenig nach dem Besonderen in der Musik suchen. Wer sich aber Zeit für „Atropine“ nimmt, findet vieles im Unperfekten, das unter die Haut geht, wie das versteckte KATATONIA-Flair im abschließenden Titelsong. Hörer*innen der oben genannten Künstler*innen, die Lust auf eine frische Band in diesem Bereich haben, dürfen ASTRAYA gerne eine Chance geben.

Das schwedische Duo NATTRADIO hat mit „The End Song“ eine neue Single veröffentlicht. Der Song steht nicht auf dem Album „The Longest Night“, das im Dezember 2025 veröffentlicht wurde.

NATTRADIO sagen über das Stück:
„Der Titel, der am Earth Day veröffentlicht wird, ist als Reflexion über einen Planeten gedacht, der sich seiner letzten Phase nähert – einem Moment, in dem nichts Dramatisches geschieht, doch alles zu Ende geht.“

„Mich hat beim Schreiben vor allem die Frage beschäftigt, warum wir trotzdem immer wieder nach solchen Türen suchen. Gerade in einer Welt wie unserer, in der wir objektiv mehr Freiheit, Sicherheit und Möglichkeiten haben als viele Generationen vor uns. Warme Wohnungen, volle Kühlschränke, permanente Unterhaltung, Smartphones, Bildschirme, Ablenkung in jeder Sekunde. Und trotzdem scheint es nie zu reichen. Es muss immer noch mehr sein. „Emotion Factory Reset“ ist der Titel des kommenden Albums von ARMORED SAINT, es erscheint am 22. Mai 2026 via  Metal Blade Records.

„Für mich ist jedes Album von ARMORED SAINT wie eine neue Haut für die Band, ein neues Kapitel. Ich glaube nicht, dass wir uns jemals wiederholt haben“, sagt Bassist Joey Vera. „Jedes Album war  anders als das vorherige, eine Momentaufnahme. Im Jahr 2026 ist ‚Emotion Factory Reset‘ genau das, was uns gerade beschäftigt.“

„Wenn wir anfangen, Songs zu schreiben, sage ich immer, dass wir machen können, was wir wollen“, ergänzt Sänger John Bush an. „Wir nutzen all unsere Einflüsse aus den vergangenen Jahren, die Musik, die wir hören und lieben, lassen das auf uns wirken und bringen etwas Neues aus uns heraus. Das ist ziemlich abenteuerlich.“

Sänger Kristopher Schau ist auf Krawall gebürstet und macht die üblichen Vorankündigungsspielchen des Labels nicht mit:

„Nur ein Kind denkt, es sei strategisch klug, seinen Song ausführlich zu erklären, in der Hoffnung, dass er im Radio gespielt wird. Alle andere tun das, weil ihnen jemand gesagt hat, es sei guter ‚Content‘, zu behaupten, man sei mit seinen ‚Gefühlen im Einklang‘.  Man will sich als guter Interviewpartner positionieren, denn man ist ja so ‚menschlich‘ und ‚nahbar‘. Ich bin 55 Jahre alt, mein Gehör lässt nach, ich bin in einem Alter, in dem ich  Pissflecken vorne an meiner Unterhose habe. Ich will nicht im Radio gespielt werden.“

Im März stellten die Norweger mit „Back To Fucking“ einen weiteren neuen Song. Wie es mit einem neuen Album aussieht, ob es beits einen Nachfolger zu „El Verdugo“ gibt, ist noch nicht bekannt.

Die Gothic / Dark Metal-Band HORIZON OF AEONS hat mit „Aedis Tenebrae“ eine dritte Single ihres kommenden Albums „Timeless Forms of Desolation“ veröffentlicht.

Davor hat die Band nach dem Opener „Kairos“ mit „Until the Darkness Claims Us“ eine weitere des Albums veröffentlicht.

„Der Titel des Songs stammt aus dem Buch von Sarah J. Maas. Der Text orientiert sich lose an dieser Geschichte. Das Gelübde absoluter Treue und Brüderlichkeit verbindet uns bis zu unserem letzten Atemzug“, sagt die Band.

Die Progressive Black / Death Metal-Band ASHEN HORDE hat mit „Apparition“ eine dritte Single ihres kommenden Albums „The Harvest“ veröffentlicht. Davor hat die Band den Video-Clip zu „Voids in the Ash“ veröffentlicht. Der Song erzählt die Geschichte von Pompeji sowohl aus der Perspektive seiner zum Untergang verurteilten Bewohner als auch aus der der Götter, die sie begruben.

Es ist das fünfte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Los Angeles und das erste mit dem neuen Sänger Karl Chamberlain (PUTREFIER). Jeder Titel des neuen Albums stehe für sich, doch alle drehen sich um das Thema des Endes – sei es auf persönlicher, gesellschaftlicher, historischer oder kosmischer Ebene.

​“Ich hatte dieses Mal keine bestimmte Geschichte im Sinn, aber in den Texten kreisten die Gedanken immer wieder um Reaktionen auf Dinge, die zu Ende gehen. Vom Zusammenbruch der Gesellschaft über alte Rituale bis hin zu den letzten Tagen von Pompeji – alles fügte sich ganz natürlich zusammen“, erklärt Trevor Portz.

Das Albumcover, auf dem zwei rote Skelette in einer unheimlichen, herbstlichen Szene zu sehen sind, stammt von der Künstlerin Venus Kohana, deren Arbeiten Bandgründer Trevor Portz auf einer Kunstausstellung entdeckt hatte.

​“Ich habe einen Druck gekauft und konnte meinen Blick nicht davon abwenden. Schließlich wurde mir klar, dass dies das Cover sein musste. Es hat sogar die Texte zum Titelsong inspiriert“, sagt Portz.

„The Harvest“ wurde von Ricardo Borges gemixt und von Tony Lindgren gemastert. Release-Termin ist der 1. Mai 2026. Vorab gibt es zu „Entropy and Ecstasy“ einen Video-Clip. Der Song fange die Kernidee des Albums ein: Freude am Zusammenbruch zu finden. Der Song handelt von einem Paar, das im Chaos einer Welt, die auseinanderfällt, aufblüht – ein Konzept, das, wie Portz zugibt, wahrscheinlich durch die ersten COVID-Lockdowns inspiriert wurde.

Die Black / Death Metal-Band SKAPHOS hat nach „Mireborn“ nun auch den Titeltrack ihres neuen Albums „The Descent“ als Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Es ist das vierte Album der Franzosen, wobei sich die Scheibe aus jeweils vier Tracks von den ersten beiden Alben zusammensetzt, die jedoch überarbeitet und neu aufgenommen worden sind. Release-Termin war der 10. April 2026 via Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Paolo Girardi.

Neue Deutsche Welle was never merely a genre tag; at its best, it was a license for mischief, machinery, and bad behavior. Güner Künier carries that lineage into Kes, a Berlin-born blast of clipped rhythm and crooked wit that struts into the old house of social obedience and starts kicking the furniture over.

Künier, born in Izmir in 1990 and raised in Flensburg after her family moved to Germany when she was three, had already lived a few creative lives before arriving here: teenage bands, industrial engineering studies in Berlin, acting, then a jump into solo work in the early 2020s. That unlikely route gives Kes its charge. You can hear the compression in the track, all that pressure transformed into a sharp, gloriously unruly statement.

The song works like a blade flashed under fluorescent light. The beat is insistent, mechanical in the best possible way, with that stern body language you get from classic DAF when the groove lands like a command barked across concrete. Around it, the synths jab and smear and squeal with the kind of pop perversity that suggests Nina Hagen after too much coffee, or Malaria! smuggling art-school menace into a back room with a broken drum machine and a stack of bad memories.

Künier’s a knockout presence: she never sounds like she is delivering a slogan laminated for safe public display. She sounds alive to the insult, alive to the absurdity, alive to the old rotten scaffolding of patriarchal power and fully prepared to laugh in its face before setting a match to it. Kes is about autonomy, reclaiming speech, about making yourself heard in a world built to reduce women to decor, but it gets there with style, with speed, with a delicious sense of danger and cartoon exaggeration.

That spirit carries straight into the video, directed and arranged by Magnus Krueger, with photography by Schwund & M.K., styling by Klara Johanna Michel, and a special guest appearance by Cosey Mueller. The clip plays like a bizarre romp through a heightened realm somewhere between Pee-wee’s Playhouse and The Twilight Zone, all goofy velocity and crooked glamour, with Künier moving through it like the only sane person in a rubber room. Behind the madness sits Fabio Buem’s production, engineering, mixing, and mastering, which keep every element lean, loud, and slightly unhinged.

Kes feels like a public disruption. Bless it for that.

Die Hard Rock / Alternative Metal-Band BLACK VEIL BRIDEShat für ihre neue Single „Revenger“ mit MACHINE HEAD zusammengearneitet, anhären kann man den ZTrack bei den Streamingdiensten.

Zuvor hat die Band mit „Vindicate“ und „Certainty“ zwei neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Zu „Certainty“ erklärt Sänger Andy Biersack:

„Der Song wurde vom Film „Conclave“ inspiriert, insbesondere von dessen Überlegungen zu religiöser Gewissheit und dazu, wie starre Glaubenssysteme zu Gefängnissen werden können, die wir uns selbst schaffen. Wenn Gewissheit erstarrt, werden Neugier, Wachstum und die Bereitschaft zur Veränderung unmöglich. Ein Großteil des heutigen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Diskurses findet innerhalb dieser Echokammern absoluter Überzeugungen statt, und diese Spannung treibt die Erzählung dieser Platte voran.“

Entnommen sind die Tracks dem Album „Vindicate“, das am 8. Mai 2026 via Spinefarm erscheinen wird.

Love makes junkies of us all, and Mirror Tapes’ debut single, Love Drug, captures how addiction can transform even the best of us. It shows how, in a moment, a responsible adult with good intentions and a working phone charger can become someone rereading old messages like sacred texts, mistaking a stranger’s scent for a sign, taking the long route home past a bar they vowed never to enter again, and reacting to unanswered texts as if it were a medical emergency. Infatuation creates its own chemical concoction: adrenaline, illusion, fear, and the simple thrill of seeing their name appear on your screen. Love Drug embodies that chemical foolishness, shaking it up until its metaphorical cap pops off.

The song has a nicely narcotic pull. The Brooklyn project comes stumbling out of the gate with a droning analogue synth, an acoustic guitar strummed like someone trying to keep their cool at 3 a.m., and then, bang, the machine drums arrive with the brisk indifference of a bill collector. It is post-punk, shoegaze, and neo-psychedelia shoved into the same cab, with everybody arguing over who gets to pick the next bar.

The chorus rises big and bleary, guitars piling up until they form a woozy wall, while the voice treats lost love less like memory than dependency. Romance here has side effects, withdrawal symptoms, and probably a terrible payment plan. You can hear The Dandy Warhols in its louche stretch, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in the black-leather throb, Eels in the damaged-pop aftertaste, and a little Madchester mischief in the way the rhythm seems to have raided the medicine cabinet before finding the dance floor.

The video, directed by Emma Volodchinskaia, takes the song’s premise into Los Angeles nightlife and lets it sweat under cheap light. Shot with an old-school VHS look, it moves through psychedelic fragments, clubland haze, and half-remembered scenes that feel fun even when they seem ready to fall apart in the editing bay. That slight disjointedness works in its favour; heartbreak rarely arrives with a clean storyboard.

As debuts go, Love Drug has the good sense to sound a little reckless. Mirror Tapes are already reaching for scale, but the track’s best moments come from its scuffed glamour and bad-idea momentum. The single lands ahead of the band’s live debut on April 25 at Francis Kite Club in New York City, supporting Mark Crozer of The Jesus and Mary Chain, which feels like a properly fuzzy omen.

Some bands come at you like a broken bottle in a back-alley argument; others build their case slow, like a machine assembling itself in front of your eyes while you’re still deciding whether to dance or duck. ADMIN, crawling out of Brooklyn with a pedigree stitched together from Monograms, Grim Streaker, and Balaclava, lands somewhere in that second category, and What Happens feels like the moment the gears finally catch.

The track opens a door into their upcoming EP Mirrored Construct, and you can hear the intent right away: rhythm first, then everything else snaps to attention. Arif Hama’s bass circles and stalks a tight figure that keeps tugging your spine into alignment, while Piyal Basu’s drums hit with a clipped insistence that suggests discipline rather than abandon. Over that, Amelia Hazen’s guitar cuts in angles, jagged but deliberate, leaving space for Ian Jacobs’ synths to smear a cold gloss across the surface. It’s a controlled burn.

There are ghosts in the room: The Fall’s clipped agitation, Gang of Four’s funk-laced groove and taut tension, the long corridors of Chameleons and Franz Ferdinand – ADMIN studied the files and dossiers, then fed them into something leaner, more immediate. Jacobs lays it out plainly: “It was more about locking into a mood,” he says, and then sharpens the idea with, “Something steady, hypnotic but still fully alive.”

That balance is the gamble here: repetition can either numb you or wire you tighter, and ADMIN chooses the latter, riding the groove until it feels like a compulsion. Produced by Jacobs and mixed by Digo Best, with Jeff Berner capturing it at Studio G, the sound holds together with a kind of stern clarity. Nothing spills over, nothing gets indulgent. You feel the pressure in the repetition, the way it coils and recoils, urging movement while keeping a firm grip on its own pulse.

“The song is also about spinning away from the mundane in life and aiming to create something more, focusing on what’s really important. Living. Exploring. Feeling. Getting out of the sedation and routines that are so easy to get caught up in… Cycles that can be broken,” Jacobs adds.

Mirrored Construct EP by ADMINADMIN have always seemed built for the stage, where volume and bodies can push this material into something unruly, but What Happens proves they can lock it down in the studio without losing that sense of imminent release. It’s a song about breaking cycle: you have to repeat something long enough before you can finally tear it apart.

Grief alters scale. A room becomes a chapel, a shirt becomes a relic, a song once heard in passing acquires the weight of fate. For Be My Wife, the project of the Paris-based creative director Federico Nessi, music arrives with that kind of double exposure: part performance, part offering, part self-invention undertaken at a moment when the old coordinates of a life have given way.

That doubleness gives unusual force to Nessi’s cover of the Breeders’ Off You, a song already marked by frailty, distance, and intimate exhaustion. The circumstances of this recording press close to the skin. “I’m now working on new music and planning some performances in the summer. But in the middle of all this, my father passed away… April 12th would have been his birthday, so I endeavored to develop a cathartic offering to him. I’ve been listening to a lot of Title TK by The Breeders, and Off You is the song I’ve always loved the most off that album. In the last few weeks, I read that the song was written by Kim Deal while she was caring for her sick mother. Having taken care of my father for the past two years, I took that as a sign and decided to make a cover of it for my dad’s birthday. Initially, I wasn’t planning on properly producing it or releasing it, but over the weekend, I kept being sucked deeper and deeper into the creative process.”

The cover recasts Off You through a somber electronic frame that faintly recalls John Foxx’s Metamatic era, with its clean synthetic surfaces, blue-lit remove, and human feeling held just beneath the glass. The video is simple: a one-take performance by Nessi, dressed in his father’s clothing, ending with the lighting of a birthday candle. Yet simplicity here carries unusual pressure. The borrowed garments place memory in plain view; the candle, modest and ceremonial, turns the frame into a site of address. You feel a son reaching across absence with whatever remains at hand: voice, fabric, breath, ritual. The cover honors the Breeders’ original while opening a narrow passage into private mourning, and through that passage, something almost unbearable becomes briefly shareable.

Nessi has spent more than two decades moving through image-making, performance, and the long private apprenticeship of devotion to music, and this venture gathers those experiences into a form at once theatrical and painfully direct. Its sensibility draws from post-punk, no wave, industrial, and goth, yet it also makes room for the suave ache of the classic crooner, for camp wit, for queer contradiction, for the small absurdities by which people survive devastation. The name itself, borrowed from a beloved David Bowie song and a Max Linder film, contains that tension between romance and performance, ardor and artifice.

Die Schotten CNOC AN TURSA veröffentlichen mit „A Cry For The Slain“ nach mehrjähriger Pause ein neues Album, das sich bereits nach wenigen Durchläufen als ein absolutes Highlight entpuppt. Ein Album für die Jahres Top 10 ohne Frage.

Von Celtic Rock bis Melodic Black Metal decken sie ein abwechslungsreiches Spektrum ab und im Schwerpunkt kann man die Songs im Melodic Death/Folk Metal einordnen.

Nach einem sich schön sich aufbauenden und emotionalem Introtrack, starten CNOC AN TURSA mit einem schnellen Banger durch. „The Caoineag“ ist einer von mehreren richtig starken Songs auf dem Album, sieben gibt es davon an der Zahl und alle sind von guter bis Ohrwurmqualität. Auch nach vielen (und ich rede hier von an die 20) Durchläufen höre ich das Werk, welches mir bereits ein paar Wochen vorliegt, immer wieder gerne. Neben dem eben erwähnten Track „The Caoineag“ hat es mir auch „Am Fear Liath Mòr“ besonders angetan. Die beiden Songs wurden von dem knapp 45-minütigen Album am meisten gespielt. Aber egal, bei welchem Track ihr anfangt, Fans des folkigen Black/Death Genres werden hier auf ihre Kosten kommen. Unbedingt antesten, das Album gibt es auf dem Label-YouTube-Kanal in voller Länge! Mit der neuen Single „Eclipse“ stellt die französische Post Metal-Band LOST IN KYIV ihr neues Studioalbum vor. „We’re All Going To Be Fine“ enthält sieben Tracks und erscheint am 19. Juni 2026 via Pelagic Records. Ein weiterer davon trägt den Titel „Burst„und ist als Clip zu sehen.

Zum Hintergrund der Platte erklärt die Band:

„„We’re All Going To Be Fine“ beschäftigt sich mit der Spannung zwischen Hoffnung und innerem Zusammenbruch und damit, wie das moderne Leben uns von uns selbst und voneinander entfremden kann. Die Songs wurden von persönlichen Erfahrungen, gesellschaftlichem Druck und der Vorstellung inspiriert, dass wir oft zu unserem eigenen schlimmsten Feind werden. Inspiriert wurden wir auch von den Werken Carl Gustav Jungs (dessen Stimme am Ende des Albums zu hören ist), insbesondere von seinen Ideen zur Erforschung der menschlichen Psyche, sowie von Themen aus Filmen wie „Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind“ oder „Melancholia“.“
