01.11.2024 - GARDEN OF STONE: weitere Single vom neuen Melodic Death / Heavy Metal Album “The Grave Mistake”

November 2024 via Inverse Records erscheinen.

01.11.2024 - Delerium feat. Kanga – In the Deep (Clan of Xymox Remix)

Los Angeles-based musician and producer KANGA was a featured singer on ‘Signs’, the current album by Canadian electronic duo Delerium (aka Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber of Front Line Assembly) that was released in March 2023.

Dutch darkwave pioneers Clan of Xymox have now remixed the song, stretching it out in strident fashion. An accompanying video created by Tim Rim Hill maintains the aquatic theme of the original clip, but also adds dream-like, often hallucinogenic visuals that incorporate paintings by long-term Delerium artwork designer Carylann Loeppky SITE and imagery by Matt Lombard SITE.

Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber have explored electronic music terrain as Delerium for over 35 years, with a series of early albums that experimented with filmic, dark ambient instrumental sounds before they evolved into an outfit with a penchant for inviting their favourite female singers to lend their voices to ethereal, downtempo songs included on each new record. Maintaining this trend, ‘Signs’ featured contributions from Phildel, Inna Walters and Mimi Page, as well as KANGA, with each adding levels of aching, romantic beauty to their performances.

Leeb and Fulber initially made their name in the ongoing electronic-industrial group Front Line Assembly, using Delerium as a vehicle for crossover songs with occasional elements of trance that would emerge with 1995’s ‘Semantic Spaces’ and eventually led to massive global chart success five years later with the dance pop anthem ‘Silence (featuring Sarah McLachlan)’, which reached no. 3 on the UK chart.

With Front Line Assembly already part of the Metropolis Records roster, Delerium eventually signed to the label for the release of ‘Mythologie’ (2016), their fourteenth full length album and the predecessor to ‘Signs’.

01.11.2024 - OUR HOLLOW, OUR HOME: Hope & Hell

01.11.2024 - Rosegarden Funeral Party Stoke the Fires of a Bad Relationship in Their Video for “Embers”

Do you ever stop to think about
Who you’re hurting?
When the lights have all gone out
In the morning.
In the depths of a toxic relationship, one can become strangely bound to their own pain, as though shackled by the very suffering they should flee. This condition, akin to a cruel form of Stockholm syndrome, twists loyalty into a thing of habit, where even wounds feel familiar, and familiarity starts to resemble love. Each betrayal is swallowed as one swallows medicine, bitter but somehow necessary, clinging to the rare moments when warmth, however fleeting, cuts through the chill.

To break free requires a strength that surpasses sheer will; it demands a reckoning with oneself, a hard-eyed look at the lies we tell ourselves in exchange for comfort. One must confront the aching truth—this attachment is no salvation, but a slow erasure of self. It’s only by reaching into that profound solitude, the space stripped of illusions, that one can finally unbind and begin again, no longer tethered by the false promises of love.

Rosegarden Funeral Party’s powerful Embers plunges headlong into the turmoil of a love fractured by betrayal and bruised by the ache of self-doubt. The song tells a tale of a person, caught in a cycle of self-punishment and yearning, who wrestles with eroded self-worth yet feels bound by the allure of hollow promises and the haunting beauty of their partner’s charm. Despite the pain, they find themselves returning, haunted by hope, unable to sever the pull of something both bitter and binding. It’s a song steeped in anguish and longing, grappling with the delicate yet dangerous line between desire and devastation.

Erin Devany of All Hallows Productions delivers a stirring visual—a performance in a dim church where innocence and safety are stripped bare, leaving the protagonist tethered to a grim dance between reality and reverie. Frontwoman Leah Lane moves through the night in tortured agony, her clothes bloodstained, embodying martyrdom and sacrifice. The church’s hollow vastness presses down as she writhes, caught in the bleak ritual of her own pain, casting an atmosphere heavy with themes of loss and fragile hope. Devany’s direction presents a haunting yet unflinching portrait of a soul wrestling with profound loss and an unsteady grasp on reality.

“Like most, if not all, Rosegarden Funeral Party songs, very little of what the song means is shrouded in metaphor, says Lane. “I wrote Embers after seeing someone that I was deeply in love with for the first time since our separation.  I wasn’t ready to see him and he took advantage of not only my love for him, but my weakness for him.  No one around me could understand why I was so attached to someone who hurt me so consistently. I was convinced that no one understood our love and I was willing to sacrifice every part of me for that love. It took me a very long time to realize that the love kind of love I had for him was a reflection of the lack of love I had for myself. This is what the video is about… the Church represents redemption, the bleeding heart represents this self harm dressed up like love, and the mannequin that has also appeared in the videos Doorway Ghost and Love Like Goodbye, represents him.”

01.11.2024 - The Horrors March in a Procession of Shadows in Their Video for “Trial By Fire”

The Horrors creep back from the crypt, reanimated and reeking of fresh ambition, as they slowly unveil Trial By Fire, the a new single from Night Life, their latest frightful full-length set to haunt listeners on March 21st, 2025, through Fiction Records. This latest lineup breathes new life into their original spirit, a return to the blood-pumping thrill that first set them apart.

In a devilish tease, the UK quintet has summoned forth an eerily atmospheric video that will raise goosebumps. Trial By Fire is a ghastly delight, a grim, brooding piece that nods to their early terror-fueled work while digging into deeper, dread-soaked themes cultivated in recent years. Each echo, each eerie beat reminds listeners that The Horrors haven’t lost their bite—they’re baring their fangs, ready to lead us back into the dark. This is one hell of a nightmarish resurrection, sure to possess the ears and souls of those brave enough to listen.

“Trial By Fire is one of the more aggressive songs on Night Life, bridging the gap between our two industrial EPs and the new album,” says the band. “Rhys began the demo in Southend isolation, before we got together and twisted it into something meaner. It’s about the curses that follow you through your life. For The Horrors, every day is Halloween.”

Directed by Paris Seawell, the video unfolds in a strange sequence of sinister figures creeping through the night, their slow-motion steps deliberate, as if hatching wicked schemes. These ghouls march with an eerie calm, their intentions unsettling, hinting at darkness lurking just beyond the corner. In these strange times, it’s a fitting reflection—uncertain, unsettling, and thick with the weight of something ominous, reminding us that the true terrors are often those we cannot see. It’s a grim and gripping tableau, a shadowed glimpse into a world where fear prowls unseen.

Watch the video for Trial By Fire below:

The Horrors unleash Trial By Fire like a stone through glass, every splinter catching the raw glint of their beginnings. The bassline prowls low, coiling through the fog, as Badwan’s growl clashes with Kidd’s ethereal whispers—a spectral duet drifting through abandoned streets beneath a pale, unfeeling sky. Their voices echo like ghosts, brushing past ruins, stirring up forgotten memories and unsettling reveries in a grim ballet that feels both familiar and ominous.

Listen to Trial By Fire below:

Night Life is The Horrors’ first LP since 2017’s V and the 2021 EPs Lout and Against the Blade, marking the first time The Horrors step forward without their original lineup—absent are keyboardist Tom Furse and drummer Joe Spurgeon. In 2021, the Southend stalwarts announced their shift to a four-piece after Furse decided to step away, stating he’s “more of a maker than a performer,” leaving the rigors of touring behind.

The band’s sixth album showcases a refined roster: Faris Badwan’s brooding baritone still leads, with Rhys Webb’s bass rumbling beneath, while Joshua Hayward’s jagged guitar lines slice through. New blood comes from Amelia Kidd’s atmospheric keys and Jordan Cook, formerly of Telegram, on drums. Their sound, now sharper with experience, reflects both maturity and melancholy.

Badwan and Webb began crafting demos in Webb’s North London flat, the foundation of a record later shaped in Los Angeles with Yves Rothman, known for his work with Yves Tumor and Blondshell. Hayward’s guitar scrawled its final strokes back in London, with Kidd contributing from afar.

“The Night Life here is not the vim and vigour of pubs and clubs,” says the band. “It’s the thoughts that happen under the cover of darkness; the places your mind takes you when the rest of the world is asleep.”

In late November, The Horrors will head out on an intimate UK tour in support of Night Life, stopping in London, Manchester, Leeds, and more. General on-sale tickets will be available here.

31.10.2024 - Goth Pop Songstress Nyxx Debuts Propulsive Anthem For Self-Reliance Single, “Gun”

Abandonment, though painful, reveals a stark and liberating truth: without the weight of others’ expectations, the individual is free to rise through sheer will. In the absence of support, self-reliance becomes a virtue, offering the chance to assert independence and shape one’s destiny without interference. To walk alone is not weakness but opportunity.

The philosophy of individualism celebrates the profound struggle of the self, highlighting the power of the mind and the pursuit of achievement independent of others. While the world may often call for support, solitude serves as a sacred space for self-reflection and the evaluation of one’s true worth. In these quiet moments, one can rise—not for the approval of others, but for one’s own sake. Abandonment by the world should not be perceived as a tragedy; instead, it can be a powerful invitation to assert oneself, drawing strength from inner abilities. True strength is uncovered when you acknowledge that you are your greatest asset. It is through this realization that genuine freedom and a fulfilling life truly begin.

Jacquelyn Dady, known as Nyxx, carves out her space with raw force in Gun. Like the fierce goddess from Greek myth, Nyxx stands crowned in darkness, exuding power, strength, and undeniable femininity through piercing lyrics and bold beats. Her presence is commanding, a storm gathering strength.

“Gun is an anthem of self-reliance, born from the struggle of feeling abandoned—an empowering reminder that you can rise alone,” says the artist. “The message is clear: you don’t need help or hindrance from others; your self-reliance is your greatest strength.”

Listen to Gun below:

Starting out as the fiery frontwoman for a high school pop-punk band, Nyxx transformed into a solo powerhouse, debuting with the single Wicked in 2013. It wasn’t until her 2016 EP Nightmare, however, that Nyxx truly defined her sound—producing each track in her Los Angeles apartment, every note a reflection of her own relentless drive.

After a long silence, she returned in 2023, roaring back with the dreamlike hearse and the feral intensity of her collaboration with MORIS BLAK on FERAL. Her much-anticipated EP, releasing this fall under SHVDOW Records, promises to show her evolution, a testament to her resilience and creative ferocity.

Gun, the fierce first single from Nyxx’s upcoming EP salt, strikes with sharp intensity. Produced by David Dutton (genCAB) and mixed by Walter Kazmier, the track pulses with raw emotion, tapping into themes of power and defiance. Nyxx, rooted in gothpop, channels boldness…and autonomy.

As she prepares to promote salt, Nyxx sets off on a 13-date tour, beginning November 2nd at QXT’s in Newark, New Jersey. She’ll be joined by Danny Blu, known for his theatricality and intensity, along with newcomers Die Sexual, whose edge promises to stir audiences.

31.10.2024 - DC’s Amulet Weaves an Icy Spell of Gothic-laced Alt-Rock in Their Latest Album “Katharsis”

Amulet, an esemble born from the bustling history-paved metropolis of Washington, DC, rises again with their gothic-laced hearts, inviting listeners into a realm where raw emotion collides with electric fervor. Fronted by the commanding Stephanie Stryker, the band unearths themes of love, loss, and the supernatural, stitching together lyrics that bleed with poetry alongside baroque and brooding arrangements. MJ Phoenix, wielding multiple instruments—bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, keys, and vocals—anchors the sound with an intensity that lingers like a dirgeful chord that haunts the memory like a recurring dream. Their music pulses with powerful feminine vocals that rise strong and sure, grounded by basslines that cut to the core.

Drawing from the jagged edges of darkwave, the force of industrial metal, and the pulse of post-punk, Amulet crafts something unplaceable. Their songs are steeped in both the harshness of hard rock and the haunting delicacy of neofolk. The brutality of Stabbing Westward intertwines with the eerie elegance of Diva Destruction. In Amulet’s universe, light and darkness dance together, and in this fusion of power and fragility, their music resonates, lingering long in the listener’s bones.

Katharsis, Amulet’s second album, rises like a dark star, pulling listeners into a 74-minute odyssey through the rawest recesses of human emotion. Released through Distortion Productions, this 19-track behemoth—crafted over three years and across multiple countries—dives deep into the soul’s turmoil. Anguish, desire, and fury blend seamlessly, guiding you through a landscape where the brutal and the beautiful collide.

The album begins with a ritual, setting intentions of eternal love, only to be disrupted by the wails of strife looming ahead. Like a Fool stumbling through the tarot, you plunge deeper into the abyss, each step marked by music that echoes ancient sorrows and modern heartaches. The album flows from driving electro-rock to pounding dance beats, shifting to the haunting laments of goth rock.

You sway through ecstasy, raise your fists in fury, and then, at last, find yourself in quiet reflection. Each track is layered with emotion, like dust on the pages of forgotten histories. By the album’s end, you’re exhausted but enriched, having explored the dark corners of the self. Katharsis doesn’t shy away from confronting those truths most would rather leave untouched—its power lies in its unflinching honesty.

Wyrdwork summons the ancient and the arcane, a ritual spun with purpose, invoking love, power, and self-discovery. With a flickering flame, a sprig of rue, a feather from a lover’s bed, the spellcaster calls upon the cosmos itself, daring it to bend to their will. Every whispered word, every sacred token is a testament to personal strength, a reminder to seize the power that lies within. It’s a beckoning for transformation, an embrace of self-worth, sealed with unwavering intent. So Cold spirals into the icy abyss of a love that has withered into stone. The song is a lament that mourns what was lost—once warm, now frozen—tracing the ruins of affection turned to apathy. Loneliness grips tightly, promises lie shattered, and the familiar touch now feels distant and cruel. In this barren landscape, the weight of betrayal chills the heart, and numbness is all that remains.

Tear Me Apart plunges headlong into the jagged, festering pain of betrayal, where each lie feels like a blade, carving ever deeper. In this haunting song, the tortured protagonist grapples with deep feelings of worthlessness. Deceit has hollowed them out, reducing once-promised dreams to mere dust. All that lingers are echoes of self-loathing and bittersweet memories of what could have been.. Each wound remains open, aching, never healing. Total Power Exchange ventures into the raw interplay of dominance and submission, exploring the intricate dance between control and surrender. Pleasure and pain blur, become indistinguishable, as partners exchange power in a way that is both electrifying and unnerving, a fragile balance maintained by trust and desire.

In Dance of Duality, light meets dark in a delicate harmony, a love that saves and transforms. One partner, lost in the shadows, is pulled into the warmth, finding salvation in the embrace of another. This is a dance of opposites, where love resurrects and reshapes, bringing light where there was once only darkness. Dirty Hard Beats sinks into a world of lust and primal power, where a vampiric queen thrives in the night. The pounding beats drive an image of dark seduction, a dangerous allure fueled by desire and control, where the line between hunter and prey is blurred.

Erase Me delves into the inner turmoil of attempting to release someone who is firmly etched deeply in a person’s thoughts, acting as a persistent and painful reminder of inadequacy. Despite efforts to move forward, they find themselves unable to erase both this individual and their own lingering guilt. The work explores themes of regret, self-destruction, and the longing to break free from one’s own constraints, all while yearning for transformation and liberation.

For Your Love explores an unrelenting yearning that a lovelorn soul can never fully attain, leaving them feeling inadequate and trapped in longing. Despite the pain, they remain willing to do anything for this unattainable love, even knowing they will never be enough. The band takes you to the cemetery to exorcise that pain to the spirits.

The Hope That Kills You captures the torment of holding onto hope while drowning in despair. it speaks of a lonely soul’s struggle against the tide of abandonment, their faith unraveling as they sink deeper into emotional turmoil. Hope, once a lifeline, becomes the very source of their suffering. It is this hope, not the despair, that slowly breaks them. “Walk Away” delves into the pain of unrequited love, where the voice of longing feels unnoticed in a relationship filled with dishonesty and indifference. Their partner consistently denies the existence of any genuine connection, leaving this yearning soul longing for more while being abandoned. Despite the suffering, they continue to hold onto their love, unable to break free from the cycle of heartbreak.

Thorn of the Rose explores the painful aftermath of a broken relationship, with the thorn symbolizing the enduring hurt. The lyrics grapple with feelings of betrayal and abandonment, haunted by a love that still lingers despite the scars it has left. The thorn serves as a reminder of broken promises, while this heart’s voice struggles to heal from a wound that seems unable to close.

The album transitions into the instrumental piece Better Times before moving on to Without You (Song of the Childless Mother). This song expresses deep regret and loss as the heart’s lament confronts the consequences of missed opportunities in the relationship. They yearn for the chance to go back and change the past, realizing too late how life feels without their beloved. Overwhelmed by sorrow, this anguished soul mourns the future they will never share together, facing a cold and empty existence.

Only Me explores the pain of unreciprocated love, where the voice of longing, in search of comfort and connection, confronts a chilling sense of distance. Each broken promise cuts deeper, leaving this soul isolated in an expanding void of abandonment. “Meltdown” captures the feeling of suffocation as the heart struggles under the immense pressure of others’ expectations. The weight of blame bears down, making it challenging to breathe as they find themselves trapped in emotional quicksand.

Sad + Beautiful mourns a love that has slipped away, depicting a spirit fractured by time and distance. Haunted by memories, this essence feels both broken and beautiful in their grief. Imagery of ravens, ghosts, and angels weaves through the narrative, highlighting the fragile impermanence of life and love. Even as their world falls apart, this heart holds onto the lasting essence of that love, with their sadness serving as a thread that connects them to what once was and will forever be. It encapsulates the sorrow of separation intertwined with the undeniable beauty of remembrance.

I’ll Never Be Enough resonates with raw devotion and yearning, as the passionate heart, bound to love, is willing to endure great pain for it. Tormented by an insatiable desire for connection, they fear the weight of loneliness, realizing—despite their sacrifices—that they may never truly feel worthy of the love they seek.

Part of Me, Part of You reflects on a love long lost to time, with this soul sifting through memories of a fractured relationship. In this, a bittersweet beauty emerges from sadness, as they contemplate the unbreakable bond that still exists between them and their former partner. The recurring imagery of ravens and ghosts deepens their sense of loss, even as they vow to maintain their love despite the emotional distance.

Finally, Track 99 concludes the album with a spoken word piece—a brief, reflective meditation on the journey through grief, mourning, and love that permeates the entire work, leaving the listener in a tranquil aftermath of sorrow.

31.10.2024 - Twin Peaks and David Lynch Tribute Band FYT! Debut Video for “Sycamore Trees”

In 2017, as the final episodes of Twin Peaks: The Return hit the airwaves, Devery Doleman and bassist/vocalist Julie Rozansky conjured a supergroup to perform Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti’s eerie ballads from Twin Peaks for a Halloween show. The experience was electric, stirring something fierce and unexpected; what began as a one-time homage quickly evolved into a dedicated band: Fuck You, Tammy! Building on that first spark, they delved deeper into the David Lynch universe, collecting a fervent following along the way.

Today FYT members Devery Doleman, Julie Rozansky, Nate Smith, Bill Ferullo, Blaise Dahl, and Anthony Cekay, unveil their brilliant cover of Sycamore Trees. Layered guitars and ghostly vocals create a haunting ambiance; Doleman weaves a siren’s spell with her plaintive delivery. The melody moves like a murmur in the dark, intertwining with potent riffs that amplify the song’s emotional pull.

“Our live arrangement developed over years of playing shows, and had grown into something so beautiful that it made me have to make this record,” says Doleman. “You take me for a walk/ under the Sycamore Trees” is, to me, about being led into a space of potentially terrifying or sublime transformation, much like the experience of entering world of a Lynch film: I wanted the song to be that invitation, and it’s the portal to the world of the rest of the record. I envisioned the expansiveness of a Bond theme with the menace of Portishead – and instead of being in the hermetic space of the Red Room, I wanted you to follow her into the dark woods, and there she encounters the saxophone solo- the ghostly presence that is waiting for her.  The layered guitars and meticulously controlled feedback with the synths evoke the dark woods – the grand piano, the stars overhead, and far, far away.  The original is beautiful and feels like someone telling a sad and terrible story – ours is that story unfolding in real-time.”

Fuck You Tammy’s version of Sycamore Trees is like slipping into a world with no fixed edges—a dark, unsettling place where familiar points of reference disappear, leaving only the voice to guide you deeper into the unknown. You start in a dim hallway, a vague sense of space, and, like a monitor flickering to life, you’re enchanted and hypnotized.

The video for the song, directed by ioulex, brings to mind Lee Friedlander’s 1960s photographs of motel-room televisions, broadcasting pop iconography into anonymous spaces—dark, omnipresent, as if the screens themselves know something we don’t. The clip also conjures up echoes of The Night of the Hunter, written by James Agee, and directed by Charles Laughton. Like a weight dragging you into an ominous night sky, you float through an endless void, inching further into the unknown. In homage, there’s also a nod to Julee Cruise’s Floating Into the Night cover—the voice the Lynchian linchpin.

It’s worth noting that Doleman’s voice bears no resemblance to Jimmy Scott’s haunting tones, but rather leans more toward the ethereal allure of Chrystabell—the singer whose role in The Return inspired the band’s name. Doleman’s voice, cool and spectral, feels like a soft presence drifting through the air, carrying an unearthly elegance. It’s a voice tethered somewhere between worlds, echoing with a wistful quality that beckons yet eludes, lingering at the edge of something just out of reach.

In this strange realm, she’s in good company, as though her voice belongs to a cast of characters caught between this life and the next. There’s a sense of inevitability, a touch of fate in her tone, guiding listeners into that peculiar Lynchian dimension where everything familiar feels just slightly off-kilter, transformed and illuminated with a pale, otherworldly light.

31.10.2024 - To Cast a Spell in the Full Moonlight — Pink Depression Debut Video for “Big Good Angel”

To cast a spell in the full moonlight
lingering sounds through the night
what we call a ceremony
in a modern world would never be
In a society wary of individuality, the path to self-determination is both freeing and isolating. To walk one’s own way, distinct from society’s numbing cadence, invites suspicion but also profound insight. Rituals become essential—a steady anchor, guiding us inward while external pressures try to erode our essence. Each purposeful act reclaims the quiet needed for true introspection, a rebellion against conformity’s flattening force. Through ritual, we cultivate a sacred space for self-discovery, a place where the mind can explore its own depths. In these symbolic gestures, the self finds its strength, its truths unshaken by collective norms.

Pink Depression brings us into the fold with the haunting Big Good Angel. Hailing from Ventura, California, the band blends sultry synths with a dark wave undercurrent, stirring up something both decadent and intense. Their sound pulses with an ‘80s post-punk beat, gritty yet polished, where John Laux’s guitars ring out with a sharp, edgy clarity, and Ozzy Parrilla’s bassline drives the rhythm with a relentless pulse. At the forefront, Tanner Allen’s deep vocals cut through the mix, brooding and fierce, adding a haunting quality to the overall mood.

Big Good Angel steps into a twilight world where freedom’s thrill melds with the surreal. It traces self-determination in a society that finds individuality unsettling, as moonlit rituals become an escape from the ordinary. Mystery and intrigue entwine, conjuring an otherworldly pull toward the unknown, an allure that defies the bounds of convention. The song calls to mind the likes of Drab Majesty, Cold Cave, Soft Kill and Bootblacks, but with a more dark, sensual, and electric twist. They compose soundscape here that feels both sleek and raw, an invitation to lose yourself in a world where every note, every pulse, pulls you further in. Pink Depression’s music grips tightly, luring listeners into a nocturnal dream that’s both hypnotic and unforgettable.

Frontman Tanner Allen joined forces with director James Spruil, who tackled the project with a focused vision. Filmed in a single day, the video captures the energy of a spontaneous creation. With friends filling the roles and an open spirit on set, they created a world that feels both familiar and deeply strange, each frame pulsing with the excitement of self-discovery and unrestrained expression. It explores the seductive charm of finding one’s own path, in a world intent on shaping us to fit.

Watch the video for “Big Good Angel” below:

In their hometown of Ventura, California, Pink Depression has sparked a fervor that pulses through every performance, pulling an eager crowd to the stage night after night. With a steady lineup of shows across Southern California, the band generates a raw intensity that reverberates through the crowd, striking like electric current.

31.10.2024 - Brooklyn Dream Pop Outfit The Harrow Returns with the Smoldering “Cinderglow”

A blackout in the breeze
Honeysuckle memories
A silkspun wound, a crushing ember
That could not compare
Brooklyn-based dream pop quartet The Harrow have returned with a brand new four-track EP, which kicks off with the powerfully mesmerizing single “Cinderglow.” The track begins with an ominous choral passage before launching into a slithering six string bass groove, backed by thunderous 808 beats and buzzing, bass-heavy synthesizers. As the song continues to twist and turn, we are treated to a surreal lyric and heavenly vocals that tap into a similarly ethereal space as Projekt Records and 4AD have over the years.

It’s been three years since The Harrow’s last release, and since then, the band has shifted lineups once more to welcome new vocalist LeeAnn Falciani, who joins guitarist Greg Fasolino (The Naked and the Dead, Bell Hollow) and multi-instrumentalists Frank Deserto (Dream Affair, ChameleonsVox) and John Forester (Boa). The Cinderglow EP features three entrancing new tracks, each one different than the last, and a re-recording of the band’s early single “The Fall,” which is given new life by producer Xavier Paradis (Automelodi). “Vanishing Point” is a dazzling track two, featuring driving bass grooves, treated piano lines, and a catchy, fuzzed-out chorus that you can’t help but shake a tail feather to. “Scarlet Vigil” closes the EP with show-stopping aplomb, chock full of gorgeous vocal melodies, eerie guitar and synth passages, droning horns, and a walloping groove that locks in perfectly and drives the track deep into the ether. The track features guest contributions by Chris Santiago, who also collaborated on Geneva Jacuzzi’s latest LP.

Deserto offers a few words about the release:

“Cinderglow” was a true labor of love. There are passages on this EP that date back about a decade, while others point heavily toward where we’re heading next. All the same, after years of experimenting with different styles, instruments, and collaborators and seeing what sticks, we finally feel ready to re-emerge from our cocoon. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and we’re excited to have found our footing once more.

The Cinderglow EP will be released digitally on all major services on 11/8. Order a copy on Bandcamp here, pre-save the EP on Spotify here and listen to “Cinderglow” below:

29.10.2024 - Industrial Rockers Fact Pattern See Through the Horrors of the Hollow in “The Same Outcome”

All this shoveling and shuffling
Toward the same outcome
Watchful eyes on new product
While the world becomes undone
The endless pursuit of material possessions, a hollow echo of humanity’s most misguided desires, traps us in a futile cycle. We shuffle mindlessly toward each new product, each new object of fleeting satisfaction, as if the next purchase might fill the growing void within. But in this compulsive race, we lose sight of the world crumbling beneath our feet, a world steadily unraveling while our eyes remain fixed on meaningless novelties. The marketplace of materialism offers no true nourishment, only distractions—trinkets that sedate the mind while the soul withers.

In chasing these illusions, we blind ourselves to the deeper, more enduring truths of existence. We erode not just the natural world, but our own humanity, slowly becoming mere consumers, shackled to an insatiable appetite for what can never truly fulfill. And so, the world decays, not from neglect, but from our obsessive need to possess what we do not need, to fill the emptiness within us.

Los Angeles industrial trio Fact Pattern has unleashed a new single and video about this collective madness: The Same Outcome.

Drawing on the raw energy of NIN, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, and Type O Negative, the trio—Flux (vocals, guitars, keys, programming), Jack Lowd (bass, vocals), and Corey Hirsch (drums)—fuses thunderous guitars, pounding percussion, and driving bass lines with jagged, metallic samples that pulse with a cold, mechanical menace. There’s a roughness, a tension, that courses through their music, something hard and unyielding, like machinery grinding against the edges of despair.

In The Same Outcome, they turn their focus on the barren pursuit of material gain. The lyrics cut through the shiny facade of consumerism, speaking to the hollow act of chasing product after product as the world slips away, eroding beneath the weight of our collective ignorance. The song urges a reckoning—a demand to face the pain we’ve bred rather than turn away. There’s a call to let go of society’s false promises and take a moment to reflect, for the root of our struggle lies not in what we lack, but in how we perceive it. Employing melancholic and enraged electronics, heavy riffs, and massive drum sounds, The Same Outcome explores a wide range of tones and emotions in the midst of a declining world.

The surreal, self-directed video flickers like a half-forgotten dream. Through fogged glass, the band moves like specters, each figure shadowed by a crawling, unsettling creature. Whether these intruders are dangerous or merely curious, we can’t say for sure, but their presence gnaws at the edges of comfort. It’s a reminder, like the creeping black mass from The X-Files, that something unseen and insidious – be it greed, hunger for power, or a victim mentality – is always lurking, always seeping into the cracks of our fragile reality.

Here, the lines between menace and mystery blur. The creatures slip in unnoticed, like nightmares creeping into the waking world, as if to remind us of the silent invaders in our own lives. The fog thickens, the glass blurs, and what’s on the other side—whether a threat or a mere reflection of our fear—remains just out of reach, a warning as much as a question, unanswered but ever present.

Watch the video for “The Same Outcome” below:

Fact Pattern was born in the early 2010s from the creative mind of Ian Flux, has gone through several transformations. Their 2017 EP Structures marked the beginning, but it was their 2019 full-length debut Fallen Language that truly defined their sound and lineup.

25.10.2024 - WOLF BIERMANN – Wolf Biermann Re:Imagined – Lieder Für Jetzt

Geburtstag veröffentlichen will. Heute lebt BIERMANN wieder in seiner Geburtsstadt.
