Das heißt, kontemporärer Nordic Folk bildet die musikalische Grundlage, die individuell neu interpretiert wird, was bei dem Duo aus Sibirien unter anderem Elemente aus den schamanischen Traditionen ihrer Heimat bedeutet. Obwohl NYTT LAND mit "Aba Khan" nach dem streng traditionellen "Songs of the Shaman“ (2025) zu einer offeneren, populären Formel zurückkehren, stammt ihre Inspiration für das Album dennoch aus einer einjährigen Expedition durch die Weiten Sibiriens. Das Paar erkundete entlegene Gebiete und lernte die spirituellen Traditionen der indigenen Ethnien kennen, denen es dabei begegnete. Das Ergebnis dieser Reise ist eine Sammlung musikalischer Schätze, die respektvoll in eine zeitgenössische Klangsprache übersetzt wurden. Das Ehepaar Natalya und Anatoly Pakhalenko gründete, angetrieben von einer klaren musikalischen Vision, NYTT LAND im August 2013 als Ritual Nordic Folk Band. Das Duo lebt in der westsibirischen Stadt Kalachinsk am Flussufer des Om, die von der Transsibirischen Eisenbahn durchquert wird. Getreu ihren oft dunklen und geheimnisvollen Themen spiegeln die Texte von NYTT LAND Geschichten, Mythen und die Welt der Geister aus Legenden und historischen Quellen wider. Diese werden sowohl in den Sprachen der indigenen Sibirier als auch auf Altnordisch erzählt, wobei sich das Gleichgewicht im Laufe der Zeit allmählich zugunsten ihrer Heimat verschoben hat. NYTT LAND widmen "Aba Khan“ dem großartigen, wunderschönen und sehr alten Sibirien. Es bricht aus BLUT AUS NORD heraus, eine gewaltige Explosion nach einem sanften Antäuschen von Harmonien. „Shadows Breathe First“ startet mit subtil dissonanten Tremologitarren und hämmernden Blast Beats, und doch ist da sofort eine Eleganz und Erhabenheit zu spüren, die von großer Verbundenheit mit dem großen Ganzen zeugt. Das Alleinsein, das uns All-eins sein lässt, statt an einer Vereinsamung zu leiden. BLUT AUS NORD schöpfen aus dem Vollen, aus dem Kosmos, aus dem Sichtbaren, dem Fühlbaren und dem, was das Gegenteil davon ist. „Ethereal Horizons“, das sechzehnte Album der französischen Black Metal-Band, speist sich aus vielem, das die Band bisher auszeichnete, und zeigt Vindsval so berührbar wie selten zuvor.

„Ethereal Horizons“ ist eine Abkehr von der Dissonanz der Lovecraft-Phase: BLUT AUS NORD zeigen sich wieder voll und ganz kosmisch.
BLUT AUS NORD halten es naturgemäß spannend, selten klangen zwei aufeinanderfolgende Alben der Band gleich, selbst die einzelnen Teile „777“-Trilogie flossen vom dissonanten Black Metal hin in Richtung Ambient Industrial. Dass mit „Disharmonium – Undreamable Abysses“, „Disharmonium – Nahab“ und den „Lovecraftian Echoes“ eine so lange Spanne der Hingabe an Dissonanz den Bandsound dominierte, sorgt vielleicht dafür, dass sich BLUT AUS NORD nun so vehement wieder freischwimmen. Der erste Eindruck täuscht dabei: Sie sortieren sich weder in „Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue With The Stars“ noch „Hallucinogen“ ein, sondern stehen mit beiden Beinen ebenso fest auf dem Boden, während sie sich mit den Armen dem Nachthimmel entgegenstrecken. Der Sound ist knarziger und roher, wie bei „Memoria Vetusta III: Saturnian Poetry“, in den Details liegen dabei viele ätherisch-atmosphärische Momente.

„Ethereal Horizons“ passt exzellent zur magischen Zeit des Winterhimmels. Wenn die Gestirne so zahlreich am extragroßen Himmel stehen und man das Gefühl hat, von der kalten Schönheit eingesaugt zu werden. „The Fall Opens The Sky“ ist mit seiner Leidenschaft und seiner Energie das große Highlight in dieser knappen Stunde Musik. Ein gewaltiges, intensives Epos von strahlender Schönheit durch Chöre, unfassbar schöne Riffs und einen rasanten Furor, der dem Stück Ganzheitlichkeit verleiht. „The Fall Opens The Sky“ raubt den Atem, mit seinen Spannungsaufbauten, mit seinem Fluss und seinem großen Finale. In dieselbe emotionale Kerbe schlägt das abschließende „The End Becomes Grace“, das nochmal alles auffährt, was „Ethereal Horizons“ auszeichnet: Euphorie, Innehalten, Eruption und Harmonie.

Das Grundgerüst mag zugänglich sein, doch BLUT AUS NORD verstecken in „Ethereal Horizons“ zahllose Facetten und Details.
Es darf bei all den großen bombastischen Highlights nicht übersehen werden, dass „Ethereal Horizons“ auch eine sehr sanfte Seite hat: Diese zeigt sich sogleich zu Beginn beim Intro von „Shadows Breathe First“, sowie im zweiminütigen Synth-Stück „Twin Suns Reverie“. Und auch zwischendurch holen BLUT AUS NORD immer wieder Luft für den nächsten Ausbruch in diesen wunderbar harmonisch-kosmischen Momenten. Auch die metallische Seite von „Ethereal Horizons“ erzielt gerade in den getragenen Momenten hypnotische Qualitäten, sei es in dem krautigen Brainmelt-Mittelteil von „Seclusion“, im repetitiven „The Ordeal“ oder in „Whats Burns Now Listens“, das sich mit einem coolen Black ‘n‘ Roll-Finale ins Gehirn schraubt.

BLUT AUS NORD wagen parallel von Anfang an aus der Abstraktion heraus: Vindsvals Vocals sind direkter als in den letzten Jahren und nicht so stark unter die Instrumente gemischt. Die Black Metal-Vocals waren zuletzt auf „Memoria Vetusta III: Saturnian Poetry“ derart aggressiv, der Cleangesang noch nie so zugänglich und erzeugte schon gar nicht solch große Harmonien. Dass die Stücke an sich recht klar strukturiert sind und vor allem durch die zahlreichen Details an Komplexität gewinnen, zeigt, dass Vindsval genau weiß, was er tut. Er komponiert seine Songs so, dass sofort eine Verbundenheit entsteht, aber mit jedem Hören mehr und mehr Schichten freigelegt werden.

„Ethereal Horizons“ beinhaltet alles, was man von einem BLUT AUS NORD-Album erhoffen darf, ist Entdeckungsreise und Meditation zugleich.
Ein Novum ist außerdem die narrative Struktur, die BLUT AUS NORD in dieser Form höchstens auf „Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue With The Stars“ boten. „Ethereal Horizons“ nimmt die Rezipienten buchstäblich mit auf eine Reise durch die nächtlichen Gestirne. Das Album ist Entdeckungsreise und Meditation zugleich, es liefert ekstatische Momente ebenso wie Gelegenheiten, innezuhalten und erzählt dabei Geschichten abseits überambitionierter Konzepte. BLUT AUS NORD schaffen das Kunststück, mit diesen sieben Stücken einen Raum zu kreieren, in dem sich die Hörenden fallen lassen und herausziehen können, was sie gerade benötigen, jeweils mit der Gewissheit, dass wir in der einschüchternd großen, unendlichen Weite da draußen kleiner als Sandkörner sind – jedoch mit der Fähigkeit zu transzendieren.

2025 wird als das Jahr in die Geschichte (meine) eingehen, in dem ich wieder Gefallen an Emo und Blackgaze gefunden habe, und ein ganz großes Verdienst daran hat eine junge Szene aus Übersee, in der es offenbar zum guten Ton gehört, ständig Musik zu schreiben und aufzunehmen und dann für minimale Beträge auf Bandcamp zu stellen. Da mag manch ein Traditionalist die Nase rümpfen – mein DIY-Punk-Herz macht Freudensprünge, und die perfekte Unperfektheit der Aufnahmen tut ihr Übriges, um in mir genau den Sympathiefunken zu erzeugen, den es braucht, damit ich Musik erst so richtig in mein Herz schließe.

Klar, sie muss auch gut sein. Und das ist sie hier: Ich höre längst nicht alles, was da veröffentlicht wird (das ginge ja auch gar nicht), aber ich verschaffe mir einen Überblick, und „Dusk Garden“, das aktuelle Split-Album der DIY-Blackgaze-Szenegrößen SADNESS (Damien Ojeda, auch von TRHÄ bekannt) und LUX, sticht aus der Flut an Veröffentlichungen aber sowas von heraus und könnte – da lege ich mich fest – auch auf einem größeren Indie-Label ganz groß rauskommen, so schön und gut und überwältigend ist es.

Ein reines Testament der Hingabe und Leidenschaft
Abwechselnd bespielen die beiden Künstler die vier Kapitel, in die das Album aufgeteilt ist, und heraus kommen straffe 42 Minuten Abwechslung, Melancholie, Leidenschaft und Liebe. Diese ist zwar kalt („Cold Love“), aber wenn LUX gegen Ende dieses Emo-Opus voller Inbrunst „Open up your heart!“ singt, wird’s allerspätestens warm in unseren Herzen. Danach wird es wild, man meint, man habe aus Versehen THRÄ angemacht, denn das zentrale Riff und der Gitarrensound von „Midnight Rain“ würden auch in einem Stück dieses Projekts nicht groß herausstechen, und Blast Beats sowie D-Beat findet man sonst ja auch eher dort; aber nein, „Midnight Rain“ ist ein SADNESS-Stück, das spürt man spätestens, wenn der melodische Emo-Part kein Auge trocken lässt.

Und es ist vielleicht mein persönlicher Song des Jahres. Ich bin so glücklich, ihn gefunden zu haben, dass ich dieses Review einfach schreiben musste: Wie nach sieben Minuten purer Screamo-Raserei mit packenden Moll-Akkorden plötzlich nur noch eine leise Gitarre und dieses unfassbar emotionale Verzweiflungsgeschrei übrig bleibt, ehe sich der Song über herzzerreißenden Klargesang wieder zurück in die rasendste Wut steigert, bis das Ganze schließlich in edelstem Bombast am höchsten Punkt des Himmels wieder in sich zusammenfällt, das ist große Songwriting-Kunst und ein reines Testament der Hingabe und Leidenschaft.

In der sonnendurchfluteten Dämmerung
Danach und daneben können die restlichen zwei Stücke eigentlich nur abstinken, aber das tun sie gar nicht so recht, eher bieten sie den angemessenen Raum, sich von diesem Emo-Wirbelsturm wieder erholen zu können: „You Hold The Fire That Burns In My Eyes“ von LUX ist Emocore in Perfektion, auch hier wird leidenschaftlichst gesungen und gekeift (und wie auch schon bei „Cold Love“ ein wenig mit Sprechgesang experimentiert), aber das Fundament des Stücks ist eher konventionell gehalten, ebenso wie beim getragenen „On An April Night“, mit dem SADNESS das Album allen Ernstes sogar mit Anleihen beim Doom Metal beschließt. Beide Künstler schütteln dabei einfach so erneut Melodien aus dem Ärmel, die sowohl für das jugendliche Abhängen am Skate-Park als auch für das nostalgische Erinnern daran taugen und die sonnendurchflutete Dämmerung fast schon herbei zitieren.

Dass das Album darüber hinaus noch ein schönes Gemälde einer erfahrenen Malerin (Siobhain O’Hehir) ziert, ist das Tüpfelchen auf dem i und schlägt eine schöne Brücke zwischen den Generationen. Wo soll das nur noch hinführen mit der Kreativität dieser jungen Leute? Sie geben uns so viel, und wenn es nur die Hoffnung auf immer wieder neue großartige Musik ist: Hier wurde sie erfüllt.

Diese zusätzliche Schärfe ermöglicht es OBSCURITY, sowohl die Melodie als auch die Intensität weiter zu steigern. Folglich nähert sich „Ascheregen“ musikalisch eher der Richtung ihrer Alben „Tenkterra“ und „Vintar“ an.

TESTAMENT nach 2000 auf Scheibe ist eine schwierige Kiste für mich, auch wenn ich die Band auf den älteren Scheiben, vor allem ab Mitte ´90 und besonders live immer verehre und liebe! „Titans Of Creation“ (Review hier) hat da leider keine Ausnahme gemacht, auch wenn „Dream Deceiver“ einer der besten Songs des Jahres war.
„For The Love Of Pain“ ballert direkt mächtig los, beinhaltet einen mächtigen „Breakdown” der nicht typisch gesehen werden kann. Dann streut sich zusätzlich ein Blastbeat mit, für TESTAMENT ungewöhnlichen Melodien ein. Das alles ist ungezwungen in einen typischen Song der Kalifornier eingewoben.
Das folgende „Infanticide A.I.“ schlägt in eine ähnliche Kerbe und wartet auch mit einem Blastbeat auf. Alter, was los?
Ist der Bann gebrochen und die Band kann mich auf Scheibe wieder richtig mitreißen? „Shadow People“ bringt auch etwas ungewohnt Töne mit sich, gefällt, ist aber nicht auf dem Level der ersten beiden Songs. Und selbst wenn das Gefühl bei mir eine Negativkurve dahinlegt, musste nach 2 so fetten Songs ja irgendwann kommen, muss ich der Band trotzdem neidlos und voller Ehre zugestehen, dass sie für mich die beste, noch aktive Thrashband der alten Garde ist und auch bleiben wird.
Dann kommt überraschend ein ruhiger Song und auch der längste des Albums. Auch auf Position 4 wie „Trail Of Tears“ von „Low“, welchen ich absolut geil finde. Ich freue mich schon, dass es das wieder gibt. Verzerrte Licks auf akustische Gitarre bei cleanem Gesang bevor die Drums einsetzen. Ganz großes Kino. Später folgen sogar Streicher. Alter!!!
ABER!
Einige werden mich jetzt steinigen…
Die 10 Sekunden von 2:42 bis 2:52 die das Ende des Refrains darstellen und später noch öfter folgen, machen mir den Song madig. Die Akkordfolge und die (dazu passende) Gesangsmelodie von Chuck gehen überhaupt nicht in mein Ohr! Ich weiß nicht genau was es ist und warum mir diese kurze Sequenz bei einem ansonsten absolut großartigen Song, der über siebeneinhalb Minuten dauert so reinscheißt, aber auch nach einigen Durchgängen kann ich nicht meinen Frieden mit dieser Passage machen. Es folgen noch 6 typische Songs, die größtenteils als qualitativ hochwertiger Thrash anzusehen sind. 100 Mal besser als vieles, was im modernen Thrash und auch von der alten Garde veröffentlicht wird. Ok, „Room 117“ schwebt da irgendwie im Mittelfeld, dafür macht „Havana Syndrome“ nochmal einen mächtigen Ausschlag nach oben. Danach beschließt der Titeltrack mit sechseinhalb Minuten das 13. Album („First Strike Still Deadly“ nehme ich mal raus) der Band und ich bleibe voller Gedanken zurück! Warum haben diese 3×10 Sekunden so einen Einfluss auf mich? Vor allem weil doch die ersten beiden Songs so megageil abgehen? Würde ich das Album ohne „Meant To Be“ anders wahrnehmen? Werden sie diesen Song nächstes Jahr auf dem Party.San spielen und mich damit überzeugen? Muss ich ihn einfach noch 125x hören und dann ist alles gut?
Es bleibt also alles beim Alten bei mir und TESTAMENT! (hendrik)

There are hours in a life when faith rises like a warm lantern in the dark, its glow steadying the hand and softening the terrors that crowd the mind. And yet, in that same radiance, a shadow lengthens…for the very doctrines meant to cradle the spirit can also press upon it, close as a damp shroud. The hymns that promise refuge may become commands, the gentle murmur of comfort turning into a narrow corridor where one’s truer self is asked to bow, fold, and disappear. In this tension between solace and suffocation, religion reveals its most human (and most haunting) face.

Alex Okami has a knack for turning private upheaval into something that feels like a transmission straight from the ribcage. Holy Water arrives in a surge: thick, pressure-packed, and humming with the kind of clarity that comes when you stop pretending the walls are closing in. He’s been brewing this one for years; you can hear the long-haul weight in every chord he drags into the light, channeling NIN, Twin Tribes, AFI, and Clan of Xymox in his stylings.

The track moves with a steady churn: guitars circling like they’ve been pacing the same locked room forever, drums planting their feet with a stubborn thud. His voice drops into the mix like an anchor – low, deliberate, and steady enough to make the floorboards feel untrustworthy. There’s a nervous brightness to the riff, the kind that comes from staring too long at something forbidden. All that talk of sinking and rising becomes less poetic metaphor and more like a record of the body under spiritual stress. The flood he’s recounting in the lyrics could just as easily be memory, guilt, or the familiar tug of something that once promised comfort but now bites back.

The lyrics spell out a person fighting a tide that keeps changing its name. One moment it feels like faith, the next it feels like punishment. What’s supposed to lift him up ends up pressing him down, inch by inch, until breath and will start trading places. It’s the oldest struggle on earth, but Okami pins it with a blunt, almost physical tension that avoids pretense. No pretty poses. Just the slow sink.

He then breaks it wide open: “You could say Holy Water has been a song that’s been spinning in my head, in one way or another, most of my life,” he confesses. “It’s really an expression born of being raised in a Mexican family of devout Catholics. Ultimately looking in the mirror and asking myself, How devout am I?”

That question hangs over the whole track. Not as an answer, not as absolution, just a stark recognition that religion can cradle you, choke you, and dare you. Here, Okami doesn’t tidy up these big feelings; he simply opens the door and lets the flood rush in.

Die Berliner Folk Black Metal Band AETHERNAEUM verkündet in den Sozialen Medien: „In den vergangenen Monaten haben wir – in neuem Line-up – im Stillen an einem neuen Album gearbeitet und möchten nun nicht länger hinter dem Berg halten. Nachdem wir Aethernaeum 2017 zu Grabe getragen hatten, keimte über die Jahre immer wieder der Wunsch auf, dieser Stilistik doch noch einmal Raum zu geben. Da innerhalb der aktuellen Eden Weint Im Grab-Besetzung großes Interesse bestand, künftig wieder beide Bands parallel laufen zu lassen, war auch das Line-up schnell geklärt (2017 hatten wir nach dem Ausstieg zweier Mitglieder keine komplette Besetzung mehr). Nach einer Dekade im kreativen Exil bringen KadavriK mit „Erde 666“ ein Album raus, das erneut einen musikalischen Wendepunkt markiert. Während Titelsong „Erde 666“ mit seinem verspielten Keyboards noch am ehesten an frühe Werke erinnert, mischen die 5 Überlänge-Tracks Doom-Sludge und Metal-Epik zur KadavriK-Rezeptur hinzu.

KadavriK haben sich 2003 am Niederrhein gegründet, vier Alben im Spektrum zwischen Melodic Death und Black Metal veröffentlicht sowie Touren mit Bands wie Napalm Death, Gorgoroth und Graveworm auf dem Buckel. Zuletzt haben die fünf Freunde lange an ihrem DIY-Projekt „Erde 666“ gefeilt.

Simone “Hellvis” Salvatori, guitarist, singer and frontman/founder of the neofolk act Spiritual Front, but also a solo artist, was kind enough to answer our questions, here at the ElectoWelt OnLine Music Magazine, just before the band takes the stage at the mighty Death Disco Open Air Festival 2025 in Athens Technopolis!

1. EW: Hello Simone! Thank you so much for finding the time to do our interview, just before Spiritual Front’s live performance at Death Disco open air festival at Technopolis Athens! Apart from the upcoming SF gigs scheduled, how do we find you these days?

Simone Salvatori: Ciao, thank you so much! Well, busy time doing new stuff, working as daily jobs, waiting for Morgue Ensemble and The Lust Syndicate to be released. Life is basicallyba long tragic wait.

2. EW: George P. and me have been following your music with love and admiration many years now, since SPIRITUAL FRONT’s beginnings in 1999 when your first album “Songs for the Will” was released. I wouldn’t categorize SF in the neofolk genre, I never thought of you like this, but SF’s dark lyrical landscapes and romantic tango ballads staying at the same time true to your Italian heritage are very defining qualities for SF music legacy. So, what about Suicidal nihilistic pop, a term under which you have described your music in the past, does it still express Spiritual Front’s music and art? I could probably understand nihilistic, but I am not sure about the suicidal part.

Simone Salvatori: You got the point, I never considered SF as a ‘neofolk’ bands, I mean if you intend that boring bands exposing runes,singing about frozen forests and all these things, not my cup of tea. If you intend a different form of folk, maybe yes, but it’ s a question of terms. About sounds, in the very beginning I was influenced by some of those bands, I mean the early scene, but not now, it’ s so boring to listen to them now. But, as said, it was long time ago, thank god. When I use the worde suicide pop, it s because I like the contrast between these two, suicide is the total, definitive refusal, the last act of denial, pop is something easy, something to share , something that belong to everyone. I lile to idea of keeping them both in my music.

3. EW: Pier Paolo Pasolini, Fassbender influences in your lyrics, and generally you have a cinematic approach regarding your artistic expression, you are telling stories when you sing, in your wonderful videos for SF tracks and when you perform. We can see a lot of talent here, did you ever consider an actor’s or director’s career and turned it down for some reason? Please share!

Simone Salvatori: That would be amazing ahahahh, well, I attended theater schools when I was younger. I always consider these form of arts a whole thing,or a sort of that. It’ s hard to consider cinema without a good soundtrack, ot’ s hard to look at something without imaging a sound, listen to some good record without imaging something happen, things appearing. Yes, those directors influenced me a lot, on a personal and artistic level. Life couldnt be the same without them, those were people who showed us how to see and feel life, those were born to teach us how to make it.

4. EW: We have seen religious themes too, some have even called them provocative or misunderstood your work in this matter. What is your stand regarding religion and inner and is your intention to provoke in an effort to maybe bring the attention of audiences in specific matters that are important to you?

Simone Salvatori: Religion played an important role in my life, I grew in a nuns school when I was kid, some images, some sounds, some odors, some punishments are still so deeply rooted in me. Religion is basically more than a belief, especially if you live in a place like Rome, it s a matter that requests more than a phrase, religion is part of our culture, even if you are not religious, it’ s a thing that have modified and created your own culture and way of living, your philosophy. I don’ t consider myself catholic at all, but I would lie if I would tell you ‘it’ s not my culture’, we are drowned in jesus.

5. EW: What kind of music do you prefer listening to nowadays? is there any kind of guilty pleasures that you might have in music and would like to share with us?

Simone Salvatori: Except hip hop, I basically listen to a lot of things, from new wave to thrash metal, from americana to industrial, from krautrock to ebm, from powernoise to indie pop.

Guilty pleasure? Mmmm , these days Im listening a lot of Chappell Roan.

6. EW: George P. has another question for you! Could you please name your top 5 albums you can’t live without?

Simone Salvatori: Hard questions maybe, not in order:

The Smiths: Hateful of Hollow”
Swans: ”White Light from the Mouth of Infinity”
Celtic Frost: ”Into the Pandemonium”
Scott Walker: ..(Hard to choose among the first 4…) …let’s say the album: ”Scott 3”
Death: ”Leprosy”

7. EW: SF’s homage to a legendary 80s band like the Smiths with Big mouth strikes again was incredible and we can see it was carried out with respect and love to the band and the legends they are. Did you have the chance during your artistic approach and creation road of this album to get in touch with Morrissey or Johnny Marr from the band for the project or have any kind of feedback about your work on this album?

Simone Salvatori: Oh no never, never try to get in touch with your fav artists. Morrissey lived in Rome for a long time, I had the chance to meet him, but I always refused, didn t have the courage to meet him, try to imagine this: for you, he’ s a something special, for him….u just another boring fan,). 

Except some rare cases, I ve always been disappointed by the artists I liked, probably, as said before, is just a matter of expectations.

8. EW: It’s quite impressive that SF contributed to the soundtracks of the TV series “Las Vegas” and the motion picture “Saw 2” as well as further independent films, theatre, and even modern ballet productions, some trivia that some fans maybe are not aware about SF. Are there any additional artistic desires you would like to pursue and fulfil further? Personally, or with SF.

Simone Salvatori: I’d love to do a soundtrack for a western movie.

9. EW: It seems that in the last years minimal synth wave has become a huge music trend again, and creation of music mainly in a digital way though PCs or even smart phones nowadays. What is your opinion of the dark wave scene currently, do you find any of these new musical releases interesting?

Simone Salvatori: It sucks, everytime I hear bands like Lebanon hanover I wonder how music could be so shitty . This trend gave the chance to many incompetents with no talents to play music and records, I mean, it could be ok, I’ m not Malmsteen, but those, c’ mon, it’ s crap, few bands are ok, but 80% are total crap. They should thank god hype is on their side, but dunno how long it will lasts, people are not stupid, they will soon realize what kind of swindle these bands, tons of reverb and flanger and cheap drum machine won’ t save them from the final conflict

10. EW: A few words please for LUST SYNDICATE, your side project, expressing yourself in more old school industrial paths. Is it still active, would you consider presenting this work live to an audience? It would be a worthy addition to Wave Gotik Treffen’s (WGT) roster for instance.

Simone Salvatori: The new album is frozen since 3 years, I had some issues with a couple of label, at the moment is ready to be released by Time to kill records next year. We played at some festivals after the first album, Wgt included. Let’ s see what the 2026 will bring. The new albun ‘we are your enemy’ is very cool, good songs, very catchy but politically exposed. You will like it!

11. EW: Amphi 2025 recent live SF headliner gig was awesome! We kept discussing how much we missed you guys live! You were fantastic on stage, your communication with your fans was intense too. What should we expect seeing you live at Death Disco Open Air on Sunday? New tracks or more classic SF setlist?

Simone Salvatori: Thank you!! Amphi has never been easy for us, there’s always some problem, but we had fun, I love our loyal fanbase. No new tracks this time, we are still working on ’em. But if you invite us to play again on 2026 we ll give you some new killer tracks

12. EW: We know SF will continue touring, you have some scheduled live gigs. Your last album Amour Braque’, was released in 2018 and it was incredibly melodic, dramatic and stimulating, very much in the SPIRITUAL FRONT atmosphere we love. Will there be also new SF music or even a new collaboration coming soon?

Simone Salvatori: We are going to record the new album on late october, we have many new songs,Prophecy records is going to release also a special limited edition double album, let s see who will be the extra guests, at the moment we are just focused on how to make it good! There many intense, lovely songs, Im pretty sure you ll liked it, especially if you loved Amour braque.

EW: Coming to the end of our interview, feel free to share with us any message you would like to, with your fans attending the Death Disco Open Air Festival 2025!

Simone Salvatori: Thank you so much for supporting us, we love Greece, and we always had a special relations with our greek supporters. It’ s always a pleasure to come back in Athens, I ve many good records about it. The last confused memory ended with me totally drunk dancing in a italodisco club. Lovely night!

Chameleons – Arctic Moon

‘Arctic Moon’ is the first full-length studio album by Chameleons in 24 years and the first to feature the current group line-up. It contains seven new songs that include the recent single ‘Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing’ STREAM   VIDEO, a re-recorded version of ‘Where Are You?’ (2024 single), plus longer compositions such as the slow-burning epic ‘David Bowie Takes My Hand’.

Although signalling something of a departure from the sound of their earlier albums, ‘Arctic Moon’ nevertheless remains rooted in the same emotional depth, spirit and intensity that has always defined their output.

“There is an obvious maturity to the songwriting on this record, and anyone familiar with our past work will hear that this is a positive step forward,” bassist and singer Vox (Mark Burgess) has previously stated. “While we’re proud of the band’s legacy, we really wanted to forge something fresh while retaining that profound and imaginative quality we’re known for. We think that we have managed to do that and deliver a very strong record!”

Chameleons have spent the summer touring on both sides of the Atlantic, with their latest headlining US trek also incorporating a dozen dates with The Psychedelic Furs. UK shows included an appearance at the Forever Now festival held at Milton Keynes Bowl, The Guardian reporting that the “gnarled angst and integrity of Manchester’s ultimate cult band remains intact.”

Another North American tour commences shortly after the release of ‘Arctic Moon’, followed by mainland European dates from late October and a previously announced UK tour in November TOUR & TICKET INFO HERE.

Long cited as a hugely influential act, having inspired the likes of (The) Verve, Oasis, Interpol, The Killers, Editors and White Lies, Chameleons are renowned for their transformative catalogue and intense, emotionally charged live performances, creating a legacy that extends far beyond their four previously issued studio albums. Their widely acclaimed debut, ‘Script of the Bridge’ (1983), has been cited by many as a masterpiece way ahead of its time, and was followed by ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically!’ (1984), ‘Strange Times’ (1986) and ‘Why Call It Anything?’ (2001).

Their unique sound swiftly gained an audience with its mix of melancholic yet energetic and powerful tunes, hypnotic, ethereal riffs and a potent, timeless lyrical style. They are considered one of the most influential guitar bands of the ’80s and ’90s, contributing substantially to the post-punk, shoegaze and indie scenes.

2024 saw the release of two EPs that kicked off a new chapter for the band. ‘Where Are You?’ consisted of three new songs, while ‘Tomorrow Remember Yesterday’ featured five re-recorded archive tracks. The well-received ‘Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing’ was issued in late May 2025, setting the scene for ‘Arctic Moon’, an album that sees Chameleons propelling forward musically while retaining the essence that has made them iconic.

When Andreas Catjar-Danielsson left this world in the very early morning of July 29, 2024, it still came as a shock to his relatives and friends including his former band mates in COVENANT. Although the musicians had known for a while that their beloved friend and colleague was losing his epic struggle with cancer, the realisation of it actually happening landed with such a massive impact that nobody ever could have prepared for.

Exactly a year after this dreadful day, COVENANT have announced the “Andreas EP”, which is the Swedes’ first release in nearly a decade. The EP is a tribute to the dear friend and colleague lost but also intended for charity as all proceeds will be going to Andreas Catjar-Danielsson’s widow and their two children. “Andreas EP” contains five experimental tracks including two cover versions by YAZOO (“Winter Kills”) and LEE HAZLEWOOD (‘A Rider on a White Horse’).
 

COVENANT were conceived in the city of Helsingborg in Sweden’s southernmost province of Skåne, only a short boat trip away from Helsingør on the Danish side of the water in 1988 by a bunch of young lads that were inspired by the flourishing scene of European electronic music spearheaded by bands such as DEPECHE MODE, KRAFTWERK, THE HUMAN LEAGUE, and FRONT 242 to name but a few. COVENANT chose their name as a symbol of the especially strong bond of friendship that they shared.
 
Emerging from the parent’s basements and recording in their bedrooms, COVENANT were invited to publish their song ‘The Replicant’ on a label sampler in 1992, which created such a buzz that it was followed by a record deal. It took two more years, before the Swedes’ album debut ‘Dreams of a Cryotank’ detonated onto the electro scene with a massive impact in December 1994. The rest is already musical history.
 
Throughout their outstanding career, which is currently spanning nine acclaimed studio full-lengths and two live albums, COVENANT have always moved forward, searched for new exciting ways of expression, and pushed the boundaries of electronic music. Emotional intelligence combined with excellent musical craftsmanship, and a knack for catchy tunes has brought the Northern Europeans to the forefront of electronic music and made them a household name of the scene.

Certainly constructed to fill the dance floor, the international duo channels the bleak, cold precision of mid-tempo FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY and the cinematic story-telling soundscapes of John Carpenter electronics into a thrilling sound that is both resurrecting a classic 80s vibe and also fresh at the same time.

OMEN CODE are the new rising star on the EBM firmament. Deep, dark, and gritty industrial sounds are channelled into captivating mid-tempo tracks that create the atmospheric feeling of a dystopian future ruled by technology and marked by social decline.

This grimdark science fiction approach is not meant to indicate that OMEN CODE embrace any political agenda or message. Rather the international duo took inspiration from the writings of Philip K. Dick and Alfred Bester as well as cinematic masterpieces by British director Ridley Scott such as “Alien” and “Blade Runner” among others. 

OMEN CODE were originally intended as a one-time project by Kevin Gould. The engineer, programmer, and lyricist was a member of the English Industrial EBM trio JOHNSON ENGINEERING CO. together with Sean Bailey and Ian Hicks, which released the album “Unleash” in 1988. He went on to found the electro-industrial act ELECTRO ASSASSIN with Ian Taylor. Following the release of “Jamming the Voice of the Universe” (1992), Taylor was replaced by Richard McKinlay with whom the next albums “Bioculture” (1993) and “The Divine Invasion” (1995) were recorded.

When vocalist and lyricist Agi Taralas was hand-picked from a stack of applications for the frontman position, the chemistry between the two artists proved so productive and strong that Gould and Taralas decided together to turn OMEN CODE into a permanent project that would also aim to perform live. The vocalist had already left his mark on the scene in a joint project with German electronic musician Stefan Böhm under the moniker OUR BANSHEE that released an album entitled “4200” in 2017.

Whether you want to indulge in shady dreams and evoke sinister futuristic images in cinemascopic visions or just move to dark electronics on the dancefloor, OMEN CODE offer the perfect soundscapes for both approaches to their music with the grandiose debut album “Alpha State”!

We're happy to announce the cooperation with the german band DEAD BEES IN BOURBON for their debut album to be released in autumn this year.

If you like Post Punk, Wave and Indie Rock, you most likely will like DEAD BEES IN BOURBON. In the classic band line-up (Drums, Bass,
Guitar) paired with electronic sequences and soundscapes, DEAD BEES IN BOURBON create their dark, sometimes rough but always catchy and harmonious music with a unique female voice.

After the self-released EP "Shots'N'Pleasures" from 2024 the band is already working on the songs for the upcoming longplayer. In the forthcoming weeks and months the music videos for new singles will be produced and released in late summer and early autumn before the album.

On March 28, 2025, RobSoul will release their first single "Feuertanz" (Fire Dance).

The singer and composer Robert Eberl continues his musical journey after having to give up his band "Soulimage" in the fall of 2023 with a heavy heart. After a creative break of just three months, Rob was blessed by the muse again and began to write rock songs with German lyrics. The result is a musical mix of various rock genres with fat and driving guitars, provided by guitarist Alex Ahle. Alex has been with RobSoul since the beginning of 2025 and has further arranged Rob's compositions and, with his musicality, ensured the typical character of RobSoul.

The music is at home in German-language rock / metal and the single track "Feuertanz" with its catchy chorus immediately goes straight into one’s ears and quickly gets stuck in one’s head.

With “Feuertanz” the way has been paved for a new musical project by Robert Eberl and Alex Ahle. Live shows are planned as well in the near future.

In 2001, THANATEROS released their debut album, “The First Rite” – a work about magic, the worship of nature, old gods and shamanism. Even though this theme has always accompanied the five dark rockers, THANATEROS’ new work, “Tranceforming”, is a more impressive continuation of their first album than ever before. As if there were less than 23 years between the two releases.

The title “Tranceforming” is fitting. A play on words that, on the one hand, stands for bringing about a shamanic trance in which the practitioner goes on a dream journey, leaves his body and gets in touch with the spirit world. And, on the other hand, it includes transition, change, transformation. Aspects to which everything and everyone is subjected to, on both the small and large scales.

Since "Tranceforming" also impresses with a powerful, balanced and harmonious production, the new THANATEROS work certainly represents a milestone in the band's long-standing work and should also provide a lot of joy live on stage.

ECHOZONE is thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with MARTINÉ from Aachen, whose musical style is best described as an extravagant and compelling fusion of EBM and Electropop. Since the beginning of 2022, MARTINÉ has exclusively presented his musical work under his own name.
