Das Folk Rock-Projekt RAUHBEIN schlägt das nächste Kapitel auf: „Rebellen & Helden“ ist der Titel des neuen Studioalbums, das für 3. Juli 2026 via Perception angekündigt ist.

Die erste Hörprobre „Rausch“ ist bereits jetzt als Single verfügbar. Frontmann Henry M. Rauhbein erklärt dazu: „‚Rausch‘ beschreibt das Leben auf der Überholspur und die Gier nach Spaß und Lebensfreude.“

Die Brasilianer AXTY haben ihr neues Album „The Pain Made Me Who I Am“ angekündigt. Erscheinen wird das Werk am 21. August 2026 via Napalm Records. Einen Höreindruck gibt es in Form des Clips „End This“ bei YouTube. Er folgt auf die Single „Selfish„.

Zu ihrem Album kommentiert die Post Metalcore-Band:

„In ‚The Pain Made Me Who I Am‘ dreht sich alles um menschliche Emotionen, insbesondere um die dunkleren, schwierigeren. Anstatt jedoch beim Leiden zu verharren, haben wir uns auf die Rolle konzentriert, die diese Emotionen für das persönliche Wachstum und die Selbstentwicklung spielen. Die aus Widrigkeiten gewonnene Resilienz, die Vorstellung, dass Wachstum und Selbstfindung tief in Kämpfen verwurzelt sind – wir wollten untersuchen, wie negative Erfahrungen zur eigentlichen Grundlage dessen werden, wer wir sind, anstatt uns auf einschränkende Weise zu definieren.“

VLMV (sprich: Alma) ist das Projekt des Multi-Instrumentalisten Pete Lambrou. Nun hat der Brite mit „There Will Come Soft Rains“ ein neues Studioalbum angekündigt, das am 24. April 2026 via Pelagic Records erscheinen wird. Die Auskopplung „I Am An Officer“ gewährt einen Höreindruck.

Zur Single „Tribal (A Heart, Self-Taught)“ erklärt Lambrou:

„‚Tribal (A Heart, Self-Taught)‘ war der erste Track, der für das neue Album geschrieben wurde, und er hat gewissermaßen den Ton für die folgenden Stücke vorgegeben. Ein von Berlin inspiriertes Ambient-Techno-Stück, das rhythmischer und drumlastiger ist als alles, was ich bisher gemacht habe. Es ist ein wütender, aber hoffentlich gemeinschaftlicher Ruf in die Wildnis und wirft die Frage auf, ob wir den Wendepunkt bereits völlig verpasst haben.“

SUFFOCATION und ihr ehemaliger Drummer Eric Morotti haben sich nicht im Guten getrennt: Am 10. April 2026 verkündetet Morotti, dass er die Band verlassen werde, weil er „seine Gesundheit schützen und nicht länger mit toxischen Drogensüchtigen zusammenarbeiten wolle“.

SUFFOCATION reagierten mit einem Statement und betonten, dass nicht Morotti die Band verlassen habe. SUFFOCATION müssten sich von ihm trennen, das seine Termine mit seiner anderen Band SANGUISUGABOGG mit denen von SUFFOCATION kollidierten.

Vom 2. – 5. Juli 2026 findet in Slunj das BEAR STONE FESTIVAL 2026 statt, ein auf Heavy-, Psych-, Stoner- und Underground-Sounds spezialisierte Festival. Slunji liegt nahe dem Nationalpark Plitvicer Seen, rund 100 Kilometer von Zagreb entfernt.

Am 1., 2. und 3. Juli verkehren Festivalbusse mehrmals täglich vom Parkplatz des Zagreber Hipodroms direkt zum Festival-Eingang. Rückfahrten vom Festival werden am 5. und 6. Juli angeboten. Eine Besonderheit des Festivalgeländes: Hier gibt es fast kein Handynetz, das macht das Festival zu einem Ort, an dem Musik, Natur und Gemeinschaft im Mittelpunkt stehen.

Das neue Album „Until One Of Us Dies“ erscheint am 5. Juni 2026, die dritte Single „It’s A Trap“ ab sofort:

die Textzeile „Don´t grow up – It’s a trap“, kommt nicht von ungefähr, Andy Brings kennt das Geheimnis ewiger Jugend:

 „Je älter ich werde, desto weniger kümmert mich mein Alter. Klar, das Gesicht ist etwas weniger frisch, der Körper manchmal müde, aber ganz ehrlich: Das bedeutet gar nichts! Ich fühle mich super, weiß natürlich um meine Unperfektheit, und lasse mir mein Leben nicht von Meinungen und Schablonen aus dem Außen erschweren oder diktieren. Rock´n Roll ist mein Lebenselixier und davon nehme ich jeden Morgen einen großen Schluck. Er hält mich für immer jung.“

Im März veröffentlichten DCS heute mit „Free Hugs For Dictators“ die erste Single ihres neuen Albums „Until One Of Us Dies“, das die Band mit Wolfgang Stach in Köln aufgenommen hat.  Zu diesem Song sagt Brings:

„Ich habe es stets vermieden, mich in meinen Texten politisch zu äußern, aber ich komme nicht umhin festzustellen, dass die Rattenfänger dieser Welt offensichtlich wieder die richtigen Töne anschlagen. Das macht mir Angst und dem will ich etwas entgegensetzen!“

Die erste Vorab-Single „No One Jokes at God“ erschien vor wenigen Wochen. Der Song beleuchtet die Herausforderungen der Millennial-Generation und beschäftigt sich mit Glauben, Schicksal und der Suche nach Hoffnung in dunklen Zeiten. Es geht darum, in der Verletzlichkeit Stärke zu finden, den Schmerz der Vergangenheit anzuerkennen und zu begreifen, dass niemand vor Not gefeit ist – und dass wir uns gerade in diesen Momenten der Verzweiflung an etwas Höheres wenden und niemand es wagt, über die Existenz Gottes zu scherzen.

„1969 No One Jokes at God“ ist der zweite Teil einer Trilogie, die mit dem 2023er-Album „1901: The First Mother“, dem vierten Album der Italiener ihren Anfang nahm und wird im Herbst 2026 erscheinen. Produziert wurde das Album von Gitarrist Luca Cocconi und Simone Sighinolfi.

Die Post-Doom Metal-Band BURIAL CLOUDS hat mit „Burn Holy“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach „Last Days of a Dying World“ (2023) das zweite Album der US-Amerikaner aus Portland, Oregon und wurde von Brad Boatright gemastert. Release-Termin ist der 22. Mai 2026. Vorab gibt es zu „Be Not Afraid“ einen Video-Clip.

„Bei ‚Be Not Afraid‘ geht es letztlich um Angst und Ehrfurcht und die Folgen ihrer Manipulation. Wir wollten unseren Widerstand dagegen in der Dynamik der Musik zum Ausdruck bringen, mit einem Gefühl von Unerbittlichkeit und spiritueller Unausweichlichkeit“, erklärt Gitarrist Matt Mitchell.

Synth-pop legend Howard Jones has announced the Things Can Only Get Better Tour, a North American summer run featuring fellow British 80s mainstays Wang Chung, The English Beat, and Modern English, with SiriusXM host Richard Blade emceeing.

Billed as “the biggest 80s event of the year,” the tour is curated and headlined by Jones himself, with all four artists performing full sets each night. Fans can expect a hit-heavy evening drawing from Jones’ “Things Can Only Get Better,” “What Is Love,” and “No One Is To Blame,” alongside Wang Chung’s “Dance Hall Days” and “Everybody Have Fun Tonight,” The English Beat’s “Save It For Later” and “I Confess,” and Modern English’s “I Melt With You.”

Tickets are on sale now via Howard Jones’ official website.

In a statement, Jones said: “I dreamed of curating a tour with my favourite bands that could bring some positivity in our troubled times. I’m thrilled that this is actually happening this summer with the Things Can Only Get Better Tour. Joining me are my friends Wang Chung, The English Beat, Modern English, and Richard Blade. I’m so excited to be touring with these amazing talents. Our aim is to bring some joy with the banging pop anthems that we all know and love. ‘Things Can Only Get Better’ is a message of hope for a future that we can create, when we stand up for the world we want to live in. Can’t wait to see you this summer!”

In the far northwest of County Donegal, where the Atlantic presses its weather against the land and the Irish language still shapes daily speech, Moya Brennan was born into a world where music passed easily between generations. She died at seventy-three, in Gaoth Dobhair, the place that had first given her voice its grounding and, later, its reach. A family statement said she died peacefully, “surrounded by loved ones.”

Born Máire Ní Bhraonáin on August 4, 1952, she was the eldest of nine children of Leo and Máire (Baba) Brennan. The family’s pub, Leo’s Tavern, functioned as both hearth and rehearsal room. Brennan, alongside her brothers Pól and Ciarán and their uncles Noel and Pádraig Ó Dúgáin, began performing in informal sessions that gradually gathered shape and intention. Among her younger siblings was Enya, whose later solo career would carry another branch of the family’s musical legacy to a vast international audience. By the early 1970s, those gatherings turned into Clannad, a group that would come to occupy a singular position in Irish music.

Their early success arrived with a win at the Letterkenny Folk Festival in 1973, an event that led to touring across Europe and the release of their self-titled debut that same year. At a moment when Irish-language folk remained largely local, Clannad carried it outward, allowing it to travel without diluting its character. Clannad built their reputation on a steadfast commitment to singing in Irish, even when that choice set them apart. “They regarded it as a poor man’s language,” Brennan told the Irish News in 2022, recalling a time when using it carried a quiet stigma. To sing in Irish, she said, “was like we were letting them down in some way, but we fell in love with Gaelic melodies, and Irish was my first language.”

In 1982, they performed Theme from Harry’s Game on Top of the Pops, becoming the first band to sing in Irish on the program. The song’s austere beauty found an audience far beyond Ireland, reaching the top five in both Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The 80s brought a widening horizon, as Clannad toured internationally and, in 1984, became the first Irish band to win a BAFTA for their work on the ITV television series Robin of Sherwood. Brennan’s voice, intimate and unbound by geography, became the group’s defining element.

Clannad’s music continued to evolve, incorporating contemporary textures while retaining its Gaelic core. Their 1986 single In a Lifetime, recorded with U2’s Bono, marked a point of convergence between Irish tradition and global pop.

 In the years that followed, the band’s albums: Anam (1990) and Banba (1992), found a substantial audience in the United States, while their work on The Last of the Mohicans introduced their music to cinema-goers worldwide.

In 1992, Brennan stepped out on her own with Máire, an acclaimed debut that opened a solo chapter lasting more than three decades. That run continued through 2024, when she released Voices & Harps IV with Cormac de Barra. Beyond music, she devoted considerable energy to philanthropy, working with Christian Blind Mission Ireland in countries including the DRC, Rwanda, Brazil, and Tanzania, and supporting those affected by drug and alcohol dependency. That work carried a personal dimension: Brennan had spoken openly about her own struggles with addiction and about the role her faith played in helping her endure and recover.

Brennan’s influence extended to collaborations with figures such as Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, and The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan. Her style, often described as otherworldly, shaped the expectations of what Celtic music could be, and composers such as James Horner drew from its tonal palette. The success of Horner’s score for Titanic was, for many listeners, inseparable from the atmosphere Clannad had already established.

Clannad released their final studio album, Nádúr, in 2013, and completed their In A Lifetime farewell tour in 2024, marking five decades of activity. By then, their recordings had sold more than ten million copies worldwide.

In her later years, Brennan lived with pulmonary fibrosis and faced the prospect of a double lung transplant, a possibility that underscored the fragility of the instrument she had carried for so long.

She is survived by her husband, Tim Jarvis, and their two children, Aisling and Paul. The music she leaves behind remains tied to the place that formed it, even as it continues to move far beyond it, carried in a voice that seemed, from the beginning, to belong to more than one world at once.

In a statement shared to Clannad’s social media account, her brothers Pól and Ciarán wrote: “We are completely heartbroken at the passing of our dearest sister Máire (Moya)… Her voice was the signature sound of Clannad and will live on forever.”

Bono, reflecting on Brennan’s death, said, “She walked through this world like an angel, and now she’s back with her own kind. We love you, Moya.”

Reaganomics swims in its wake 

Chicago post-punk trio Body Shop comes barreling out of the city with the kind of record that makes you want to knock over a barstool just to hear how it sounds hitting the floor in time with the rhythm. And that is the rhythm they answer to: their own, a twitching pulse no one else could have set, carving out a singular identity that defies modern post-punk convention and landing closer to the lean, lived-in nerve of the Reagan-Thatcher years than most of the genre’s current revivalists usually dare. And their new EP, Sex Body, has nerve, swaggering hips, and a wicked little grin smeared across its face, and it understands a principle too many bands have misplaced in the museum gift shop of post-punk history: if you want to say something about the modern condition, sometimes the smartest route is to make people move first and think about why they’re moving two minutes later.

The first track Repulsion kicks the door open with a bassline stretched tight as piano wire, all bad intent and bright mischief, while Kit Dee delivers those spoken vocals with a cool, cutting edge that calls up Kim Gordon, like she wandered into a warehouse party and decided to start reading the room its rights. The track bounces, jerks, then suddenly drops into a busted little no-wave detour that feels gloriously crooked. It’s funny, slightly nasty, and far smarter than it initially lets on. A visceral outpouring of disgust and fury, the song catalogues rejection of social norms and simmering hatred toward others. Violent imagery mirrors emotional overload, yet beneath the revulsion, an unstoppable rhythm persists, that beat locking in like a bad habit you’re not ready to quit.

Then the title track Sex Body struts in on a bass groove that knows exactly how much trouble it can cause without ever raising its voice. Around it, the synths zip and veer with caffeinated panic, and the band lands in that delicious zone where club music, art-school absurdity, and plain old lust get tangled together. You can hear the ghost of ZE Records hanging around the edges, maybe Suburban Lawns peeking through the curtains, too. They sound like people living in this century’s digital fever swamp, where desire gets tagged, sorted, sold back, and somehow still manages to come off hot, strange, and gloriously unstable. This track fuses sexuality with digital imagery, portraying the body as both machine and commodity, where intimacy gets processed into data and sent back out as something colder, shinier, harder to trust.

Next is Limits, which enters as a rally cry shouted from the top of a crumbling office tower, all catchy chant and joyous commotion, with a whipped-up energy that nods toward the B-52s at their most gloriously unbuttoned. There’s a bite under the bass-driven bounce, though, a sense of people being pushed, prodded, polished down to something usable. A critique of power, control, and exploitation, the song explores endurance under pressure, particularly through gendered expectations, in which repetition feels like a ritual and a warning rolled into one.

Fallacies starts with sirens and a stalking bass figure before slipping into a chant that feels half public breakdown, half downtown poetry slam. A chaotic collage of orange, tan, and technicolor-tinged celluloid cultural references, Fallacies dissects media, ideology, and excess through a distorted lens of the 1970s. It spits out images of spectacle and absurdity with a grin that feels a little too wide, like it knows the joke and you’re still catching up.

Then Exit Drill lurches into view, all angular guitar chatter and clipped funk, its odd little call-and-response figures rubbing against an airy chorus. Driven by stark architectural imagery, Exit Drill calls for an end to destruction and the reinvention of rigid systems. The urgency keeps building, like alarms going off in a building nobody bothered to evacuate, until the idea of tearing it all down starts to sound less like chaos and more like common sense.

Throughout their EP Sex Body, Body Shop makes chaos feel tightly coiled, purposeful, and perversely danceable. Tyler Ommen and Doug Malone keep the production lean and lively, and Mikey Young’s mastering gives the songs a hard, clean outline without sanding off their weird edges. Body Shop sound alert, amused, and fully alive to the absurdity closing in from every side. This record grabs your wrist, drags you onto the floor, and leaves you there laughing at the panic of living in the modern age.

Auf „Into Oblivion“  sind die ersten neuen Aufnahmen seit ‘Storm The Gates’ aus dem Jahr 2018 zu hören.  Verzögert wurde die Veröffentlichung laut Band von verschiedenen Faktoren, darunter die Covid Pandemie, Verzögerungen bei den Aufnahmen und der Wille zur Perfektion –  Cronos sagt dazu:

“Dieses Album hat wirklich neue Maßstäbe gesetzt, aber wer ein Killer-Album machen will, muss dafür Blut, Schweiß und Tränen opfern.” Rage bestätigt: “Ich bin so stolz auf dieses Album, es ist einfach umwerfend! Die Hardcore-Veteranen PRO-PAIN haben einen Plattenvertrag mit Napalm Records abgeschlossen. Die Comeback-Platte trägt den Titel „Stone Cold Anger“ und erscheint am 15. Mai 2026 über das österreichische Label – es ist die erste Scheibe seit rund elf Jahren. Bassist und Sänger Gary Meskil erklärt:

„Wir danken unseren Fans weltweit für 35 Jahre unerschütterliche Unterstützung. Nach einem Jahrzehnt Pause vom Aufnahmestudio kehren wir mit ‚Stone Cold Anger‘ zurück – einem Album, das aus globalen Spannungen und der steigenden Forderung nach Verantwortlichkeit entstanden ist. Das SKULLCRUSHER FEST V findet am 8. und 9. Mai 2026 in den Freiburger Clubs ArTik  und Slow Club statt. Das Billing ist komplett – der Veranstalter hat VICIOUS RUMORS wieder ausgeladen, in einem langen Statement auf der Webseite des ArTik zeigen die Verantwortlichen Haltung und schreiben unter anderem:

Wir als Veranstaltende vom SkullCrusher Fest haben uns dazu entschieden, VICIOUS RUMORS von unserem Festival auszuladen. Wir wollten VICIOUS RUMORs die Möglichkeit geben, sich von den menschenverachtenden, rassistischen und diskriminierenden Äußerungen ihres Schlagzeugers glaubhaft zu distanzieren, was für uns mit der angekündigten Trennung von Larry Howe vor der anstehenden Europatour erfüllt war. Nun mussten wir mit großem Erstaunen feststellen, dass VICIOUS RUMORS nach der absolvierten US-Tour vor ein paar Tagen ein Statement über ihre Social Media-Kanäle veröffentlicht haben, in dem sie ankündigen, nun doch mit dem besagten Drummer nach Europa zu reisen (…)  Leider wurde hierbei nicht erwähnt, dass es genau jene hasserfüllten, menschenverachtenden Postings von Larry Howe waren und sind, die das Gift unserer Zeit sind. Das hat auch schon lange nichts mehr mit Meinungsfreiheit zu tun, diese Grenzen hat Larry Howe schon vor langer Zeit hinter sich gelassen. Diskriminierung hat im Slow Club und im ArTik keinen Platz. Jeder Mensch hat das gleiche Recht auf Respekt, Würde und Teilhabe, unabhängig von Herkunft, Geschlecht, Religion, Behinderung, Alter oder sexueller Identität. Wir treten aktiv gegen Rassismus, Sexismus und Ausgrenzung ein und fördern eine Kultur der Vielfalt und Chancengleichheit. Für Larry Howe und seine Haltung gibt es bei uns keinen Platz. (…)
