ARCH ENEMY und Angela Gossow haben einen identischen, kryptischen Teaser bei Instagram gepostet und alle älteren Inhalte ausgeblendet. Angela Gossow war bis 2014 Sängerin der Band und übernahm anschließend das Management der Band. Was es mit den Postings genau auf sich hat, und ob sie gar zur Band zugekehrt ist, ist unklar.

Nach ihrem Ausstieg übernahm Alissa White-Gluz den Posten der Sängerin, sie verkündetet im November 2025 ihren Ausstieg, die verbleibenden Bandmitglieder erklärten, dass es 2026 weitergehen werde. Inzwischen sind ARCH ENEMY für einige Festivals und Open Air 2026 bestätigt, unter anderem spielt die Band beim SUMMER BREEZE.

„Wer klassischen Metal Church liebt, wird dieses Album lieben“, verspricht METAL CHURCH-Gitarrist Kurdt Vanderhoof. Er spricht vom 13. Studioalbum der Band, es heißt  „Dead To Rights“ und erscheint am 10. April 2026 via Reaper Entertainment.  „Dead To Rights“  ist die erste Veröffentlichung der neuen Bandbesetzung, bestehend aus Gründungs-Gitarrist Kurdt Vanderhoof, dem langjährigen Gitarristen Rick Van Zandt, Bassist David Ellefson, Schlagzeuger Ken Mary und Sänger Brian Allen.

Kurdt Vanderhoof erklärt:

„Dieses  Album ist etwas Besonders für mich: Die Band war am Ende, ich habe nicht damit gerechnet, dass sie wiederbelebt wird. Aber irgendwie hat sie sich selbst zurück ins Leben geholt. Ich bin unglaublich stolz auf die neuen Songs; sie sind einfach mitreißend. Brian Allen bringt den klassischen Metal-Church-Sound in die Vocals ein, und die Rhythmussektion mit Musikern wie Dave Ellefson und Ken Mary macht das Ganze zu einer Macht. HIRAKI und MEEJAH haben eine gemeinsame EP aufgenommen. „Interwoven“ ist eine Kollaboration beider Bands, die zu „einem großen Ensemble verschmelzen“. Wie sich die Schnittmenge der beiden Gruppen anhört, verrät nach der Single „Dead Calls“ nun die Auskopplung „Preserve/Manifest„.

„Architects Of A New Weave“ haben EVERGREY ihr neues Album betitelt, es erscheint am 5. Juni 2026.

Tom Englund ist von „Architects Of A New Weave“, so überzeugt, dass er keinen einzelnen Song hervorheben kann – wann eine erste Single erscheinen soll, ist übrgens noch nicht bekannt.

„Wir hatten noch nie so große Schwierigkeiten bei der Auswahl der Singles – und ehrlich? Das ist das beste Problem, das wir haben könnten. Jeder Song auf diesem Album will der erste sein, den ihr hört. Wir haben alles gegeben, um ein Album zu schaffen, auf das wir absolut stolz sind. Keine Filler, keine Kompromisse – zwölf Tracks, die wir lieben und ein Leben lang lieben werden.“

„Architects Of A New Weave“ wurde von Tom S. Englund und Vikram Shankar produziert und von Adam „Nolly“ Getgood gemischt,  Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY, THE HALO EFFECT, GRAND CADAVER, Cemetery Skyline) ist bei einem Song als Gastsänger zu hören.

In bestimten Formaten enthaält „Architects Of A New Weave“ ein Bonusalbum mit den zusätzlichen Tracks „Heights“ und „One Heart“ sowie einem Album-Mix der zuvor veröffentlichten Single „OXYGEN!“ (2025). Ergänzt wird das Paket durch eine Demoversion von „Longing“, eine Instrumentalversion von „Leaving The Emptiness“(beides neue Songs), eine Live-Version der Single „Falling From The Sun“ vom Vorgängeralbum Theories of Emptiness (2024) sowie die Fortsetzung von „Ominous“ aus A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) (2022).

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Drei äußerst entschlossene Musikerinnen. (Puh, der Verfasser befürchtete schon, es wäre der Tod.) Drei, die auf ihrem zweiten Album fokussiert, konsequent und kompromisslos ihre dunklen Rocksongs performen und die Stärken eines Power Trios auszuspielen wissen. Und doch: „Where The Seas Fall Silent“ beginnt erstmal als grungiges Midtempo-Stück. Also ALICE IN CHAINS statt UNTO OTHERS? So dauert es ein wenig, bis HOAXED richtig in Fahrt kommen. Grimmige Coolness hat die Band aus Portland, Oregon im Blut – man weiß es, wenn man „Two Shadows“ schon kennt – und doch scheint es, als würden sie bis zum Ende von „Kill Switch“ mit angezogener Handbremse fahren, bevor sie zum ersten Mal richtig nach vorne spielen.

„Death Knocks“, tritt aber nicht sofort ein: HOAXED bauen ihr zweites Album langsam auf.
Ironischerweise beginnt „Death Knocks“ ausgerechnet dann richtig zu zünden, wenn HOAXED leiser und beschwörend, statt laut und wild werden : „Promised To Me“ baut Spannung auf, verbindet dunkle Gesangsharmonien mit kratzigen Riffs und einer rauen Atmosphäre. Man spürt es, jetzt nimmt das Album Fahrt auf. Dennoch wirkt „The Fallen“ fast so, als würden HOAXED ihre Hörenden in der Folge verlieren, bis sie in der Mitte dann die aufgebaute Spannung zu entladen wissen. Und obwohl „Death Knocks“ ein sehr kompaktes Album mit kurzen Songs ist, nimmt sich das Trio in der Mitte des Albums Zeit, um mit dem Cello-Interlude „Looking Glass“ in das atmosphärische, orchestrale „Dead Ringer“ überzuleiten.

Relativ lange täuschen HOAXED vor, als hätten sie keinen wuchtigen Songs wie das Titelstück des Debütalbums auf „Death Knocks“ stehen. Im letzten Drittel schwillt die Musik so richtig an, steht doch mit „Wretched“ ein angriffslustiger Song, der an der Schwelle zum Metal steht. Auch das wuchtige Uptempo-Stück „The Family“, der Hit des Albums, hält das Energielevel oben zwischen Wut und äußerst eingängigem Songwriting, bevor das abschließende „Killing Stone“ mit Groove und schroffen Gitarren und einer unwiderstehlichen Hook endet. HOAXED schaffen es also, ihr zweites Album so aufzubauen, dass es von Song zu Song besser wird und am Ende gerade zu unverschämt unvermittelt endet.

Die Herangehensweise von HOAXED ist originell, „Death Knocks“ kann diese Stärke aber nicht ganz zu seinem Vorteil ausspielen.
Irgendwo zwischen TRIBULATION und ROYAL THUNDER sortieren sich HOAXED auf „Death Knocks“ ein und haben in diesem unwahrscheinlichen Feld ein kompaktes, dynamisches und energiegeladenes Album geschaffen. Diese acht Songs plus Interlude klingen düster, aber nicht verbittert, kontrolliert, aber angriffslustig und sind dank der fokussierten Arbeitsweise der Musikerinnen sowohl abwechslungsreich als auch kurzweilig. Sängerin und Gitarristin Kat Keo führt die Band souverän an, schreibt Riffs, die genau an der Schwelle zwischen simpel und raffiniert liegen und hat eine kraftvolle Stimme. Schlagzeugerin Kim Coffel trägt mit ihrem Spiel viel zur Dynamik des Albums bei, weiß sich zurückzunehmen, haut im richtigen Moment aber beherzt zu – gerne auch mit Double Bass.

Obwohl kreativ und technisch objektiv nichts an „Death Knocks“ auszusetzen ist – beachtlich ist auch die starke Produktion von Toningenieur Gabe Johnston und den Mix von Arthur Rizk –, bleibt der Eindruck, dass HOAXED etwas unter ihren Möglichkeiten geblieben sind. Ein paar Songs etwas mehr ausgebaut, vielleicht in der ersten LP-Hälfte noch ein schnelles Stück mehr, und dieses Album wäre unwiderstehlich geworden. Dennoch, wer sich irgendwo zwischen Grunge und Gothrock sein stilistisches Heim einrichten kann, darf sich darauf gefasst machen, dass HOAXED an der Tür klopfen. Alles in allem ein cooles Album mit etwas Luft nach oben.

Mit ihrem zweiten Album haben die Schwaben ein großartiges Heavy-Metal-Album abgeliefert. Aus Melodien, Geschwindigkeit, Epik und Druck hat das Quintett zehn abwechslungsreiche, nahezu tadellose Songs erschaffen. Die Hauptzutaten stammen zwar aus den 80ern und 90ern, wo der klassische Metal unverwässert und vital klang. Doch das Album wirkt zu keinem Zeitpunkt altbacken.

Beim Anhören werden Erinnerung an die guten alten Zeiten wach. Und doch schaffe ich es nicht, konkrete Parallelen zu existierenden Bands zu benennen. Klar, die Gitarren bewegen sich grob zwischen frühen HELLOWEEN und JUDAS PRIEST. Das Schlagzeug verzichtet auf klinisch getriggerte Perfektion. Stattdessen gibt es kreative Fills und allerlei Wirbel, die den Melodien aber nie in den Weg kommen. Als letztes wichtiges Puzzlestück im Bandsound klingt der klare, warme Gesang von Tobi Hübner anders als alle großen Metal-Sänger der 80er. Die häufige Verwendung von zweiten (und dritten) Stimmen kennt man in anderen Kontexten von BLIND GUARDIAN. SKULL & CROSSBONES verlieren sich jedoch nie im Bombast, zumal Keyboards auch nur sehr spärlich verwendet werden. Kurzum, „Time“ klingt vertraut und zugleich eigenständig – und gut!

Volltreffer im dritten Anlauf

Den Kern der Band sah ich zum ersten Mal 2017 live in Heidenheim. Die Saitenfraktion spielte damals bei STORMWITCH und bot eine solide Show, die freilich von den alten Klassikern lebte. Nach dem Split mit Andy Mück machte die Band unter neuem Namen weiter. 2022 hatte ich das Vergnügen, die ersten Gehversuche mit Andy Fronk am Mikrophon live in Heuchlingen zu hören. Das Set bestand überwiegend aus STORMWITCH-Material, wobei neben den Oldies gerade auch „Arya“ richtig gut klang. Die beiden neuen Songs hingegen zündeten nicht so recht. Kurz darauf gab es einen Sängerwechsel. Aus „Soul Robber“ wurde „Nature’s Legacy“ und das Debüt „Sungazers“ klang durchaus interessant. Doch irgendwas fehlte. Zum Glück blieb die Band am Ball und gewann mit Bernd Heining einen Schlagzeuger, der dem Tempo nicht irgendwie hinterherrannte, sondern souverän die Basis für die vielseitigen neuen Kompositionen ablieferte.

„Time“ beginnt mit der traditionellen Speed-Nummer „Echoes of Eternity“. Der Refrain klang beim ersten Reinhören noch etwas verzwungen. Im Anschluss zeigt „Labyrinth of Time“ dann aber, dass SKULL & CROSSBONES auch als Songwriter gereift sind. Der Chorus ist megaeingängig und auch der Rest ist einfach nur stimmig arrangiert und schmissig umgesetzt. Ähnlich verhält es sich bei „The Illusionist“, das zu meinen Lieblingsstücken auf dem Album gehört. Hier passt alles bestens zusammen. Es folgen ein paar härtere Songs, die freilich immer noch genug Melodie und Eingängigkeit besitzen, dank denen man „Time“ mühelos am Stück durchhören und genießen kann.

In der zweiten Albumhälfte gibt es einige weitere Glanztaten zu hören. „Passing Hours“ hat einen wunderschönen Refrain, bei dem das flotte Schlagzeug für den nötigen Drive sorgt, während Tobi Hübner wie ein junger Gott singt. Kurz vor dem Ende macht die Band schließlich einen Abstecher in Southern-Rock-Gefilde. Das wirkt beim Anhören im ersten Moment genauso überraschend und ungewöhnlich, wie es sich hier liest. Doch „Nocturnal Dreams“ ist, anders als der Titel suggeriert, ein optimistisches und ungewöhnliches Lied, das irgendwie funktioniert. Es ist jedenfalls das Paradebeispiel dafür, dass die Musik abwechslungsreich und nachhaltig ist. Bezeichnenderweise erinnert erst die textliche Erwähnung des Tanzes mit den Hexen an die STORMWITCH-Vergangenheit der Band.

Härter, eingängiger, dringlicher und einfach viel besser als STORMWITCH

Zum Schluss gibt es noch eine Piratenhymne, die den Vergleich mit „Tigers of the Sea“ nicht scheuen braucht. „The Ocean’s Call“ lädt zum Mitsingen ein und übertrifft den Sturmhexenklassiker letztlich mühelos und weckt das Verlangen, die Repeat-Taste zu drücken. Das hätten RUNNING WILD zu ihren besten Zeiten auch nicht besser hinbekommen.

SKULL & CROSSBONES haben mit „Time“ somit eine großen Wurf gelandet. Für meinen Geschmack haben sie eins der besten klassischen (Melodic-/Heavy-)Metal-Alben der letzten Jahren abgeliefert. Auf Dauer ist die Musik so fesselnd, dass auch kleinere Makel (schwäbischer Akzent im Englischen hier und da, kein Andreas-Marschall-Cover) nicht mehr stören, da das Hörvergnügen viel eher zum aktiven Luft-Gitarre-Spielen oder zum Headbangen animiert. So freue ich mich, dass die Band konzerttechnisch weiterhin sehr aktiv ist und ich die Songs bald auch live erleben kann.

Der erste Live-Auftritt NEVERMOREs mit dem neuen Lie-up ist am 1. April 2026 in Istanbul. Über den neuen Sänger Berzan Önen, der WARREL DANE (2017 verstorben) ersetzt, sagt Jeff Loomis:

„Er stach beim ersten Hören in vielerlei Hinsicht hervor. Als ich ihn zum ersten Mal singen hörte, konnte ich die Emotionen und Leidenschaft wirklich spüren. Er hat nicht einfach seine Rolle abgespult. Ich merkte direkt, dass er ein Fan von Warrels Gesang war, allein schon an der Art, wie er bestimmte Wörter aussprach. Ich war beim ersten Hinhören wirklich überwältigt.“

Die Band hat  vor Kurzem einen Plattenvertrag bei Reigning Phoenix Music unterzeichnet. Zum neuen Kapitel in der Geschichte NEVERMOREs erklären Gitarrist Jeff Loomis und Schlagzeuger Van Williams:

IRON SAVIOR bringen am 27. März 2026 ein Cover-Album raus. Für „Awesome Anthems of the Galaxy“ hat die Band 80er-Pop-Songs aufgenommen. Als ersten Vorgsckmackt teilt die Band nun ihre Version eines a-ha-Songs:

Im März und April 2026 sind HELLRIPPER auf Tour und stellen die neuen Songs auch live vor, mit dabei sind je nach Venue SCHIZOPHRENIA, SARCATOR oder MIDNIGHT.

„Coronach“ von James McBain in den Coronach Studios in Schottland aufgenommen und abgemischt. Das Mastering übernahm Damien Herring in den Subterranean Watchtower Studios in den USA. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Adam Burke / Nightjar Illustration. Über sein neues Album sagt der Schotte:

„Coronach“ ist mein Blick auf die schottischen Kultur, Musik, Literatur, Geschichte und Folklore. Von der viktorianischen Gothic-Literatur, unheimliche Überlieferungen und klassische schottische Poesie bis hin zu modernen urbanen Storys erzählt diese Album Geschichten aus verschiedenen Zeiten.  Inspiriert von allem Möglichen, von VENOM und MERCYFUL FATE über WATAIN und OPETH bis hin zu MANIC STREET PREACHERS, Filmmusik und traditioneller schottischer Musik, ist das Album ein gutes Abbild meiner selbst, verpackt in einem schönen Speed-Metal-Paket!

In dieses Album floss einiges an Experimentierfreude. Ich wollte, dass jeder Track etwas enthält, was ich zuvor noch nie gemacht habe. Ein neues Instrument oder ein neues Intro – jeder  Track hat eine Überraschung. Das Album, benannt nach dem traditionellen Klagelied, das bei Beerdigungen in den schottischen Highlands gesungen wird, zeigt, worum es bei der Band geht: die Mischung aus modernen und Old-School-Einflüssen, Geschichten aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart, die dunkle Seite der schottischen Geschichte und meine persönliche Interpretation davon.

Die Avant-Garde Post-Black Metal-Band UNVERKALT hat einen Labeldeal bei Season of Mist unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen wird am 27. Februar 2026 mit „Héréditaire“ ein neues Album der ursprünglich aus Griechenland stammenden Band, die inzwischen in Berlin beheimatetet ist, erscheinen.

„Dieses Album ist eine Klage über etwas, das weit älter ist als unsere Existenz“, sagt Gitarrist und Komponist Themis Ioannou (Foray Between Ocean), der auch für das Cover-Artwork verantwortlich zeichnet. „Es handelt von etwas, das sich durch Generationen zieht, auf der Suche nach einer Antwort auf eine allgegenwärtige Frage: Was tragen wir mit uns, das nie uns gehörte?“

Mit dem Video-Clip zu „Introjects“ gibt es nun eine dritte Vorab-Single.

„Wir tragen oft Überzeugungen und Ideen mit uns herum, die nie unsere eigenen waren, sondern die wir aus der Welt anderer übernommen haben“, sagt die Band. „Diese toten Konstrukte schlummern unter der Oberfläche und prägen uns still und leise – bis etwas zerbricht. Es gibt einen Moment der Dissonanz, einen Riss in der Oberfläche, eine Erkenntnis, dass das Gewicht, das wir tragen, nicht unser eigenes ist.“

Zuvor hat die Band mit dem Video-Clip zu „Oath Ov Prometheus“ eine zweite Vorab-Single veröffentlicht.

„Dieser Song reflektiert die Illusion von Größe, wie die Menschheit sich selbst zum Gott krönt, um ihren Platz um jeden Preis zu bewahren“, sagt die Band.

„Héréditaire“ wurde von Joshua Barber gemixt und von Lasse Lammert gemastert. Davor hat die 2017 gegründete Band mit „L’Origine du Monde“ (2020) und „A Lump of Death: A Chaos of Dead Lovers“ (2023) zwei Alben veröffentlicht. Vorab gibt es auch zum Opener „Die Auslöschung“ einen Video-Clip.

Hierbei handelt es sich um das Death Metal-Solo-Projekt von David McMaster (PREDATORY LIGHT, STREET TOMBS, SUPERSTITION). Mit „Curse Of Despair“ gibt es nun einen zweiten Vorab-Track.

„Confined To Time“ wurde von Augustine Ortiz produziert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Grady Gordon ausgestattet. Vorab gibt es auch den Track „Pendulum Clock“ zu hören.

Die finnische Hardcore-Band RATS WILL FEAST hat mit dem Video zu „Observer“ – mit Simo Perkiömäki (DOME RUNNER) als Gast – einen ersten Track ihrer kommenden EP „An Evocation“ veröffentlicht. Die neue Scheibe folgt auf das vierte Album der Finnen „Hellhole“ (2024) nach und wird am 3. April 2026 via Time To Kill Records erscheinen.

Inhaltlich versuche „An Evocation“, eine Person zu beschreiben, die zwischen verschiedenen Ebenen der Akzeptanz und des Grolls hin- und hergerissen ist. Es ist eine Momentaufnahme eines Prozesses, der das Leben jedes Menschen berührt. Zwischen den Zeilen reflektiert der Text auch die Frage, was einen dazu bringt, immer wieder auf die Bühne zu gehen, und was das Schreiben und Aufführen dieser Art von Musik für einen selbst und andere so wichtig macht.

Es ist nach „Helvetesdagar“ (2019) und „Den svenska vreden“ (2023) das dritte Album der schwedischen Solo-Künstlerin. Der Albumtitel bezieht sich dabei auf die Tradition, den Boden zu verbrennen, um neues Leben zu entfachen – eine Metapher für den persönlichen Umbruch und Neuanfang, der im Mittelpunkt des Albums steht.

Die Fuzz / Heavy Rock-Band STONUS hat einen Video-Clip zum Titeltrack ihres kommenden Albums „Space to Dive“ veröffentlicht.

„Dieser Song bildet den konzeptionellen Kern des Albums – er symbolisiert eine Reise voller intensiver mentaler und emotionaler Kämpfe, auf der das Bewusstsein versucht, die Kontrolle zu behalten, während das Unterbewusstsein darum kämpft, sich zu befreien. Er steht für den Sprung in den inneren Raum, wo Intuition und Selbstdefinition aufeinandertreffen. Dieser innere Kampf, der sich auch in der visuellen Welt des Songs widerspiegelt, entfaltet sich durch surreale Landschaften und symbolische Bilder und gibt den Ton für den inneren Abstieg des Albums vor“, sagt die Band.

Es ist nach „Aphasia“ (2020) das zweite Album der Band aus Zypern und sei eine transzendente Reise in den inneren Raum, eine esoterische Erkundung, die darauf abzielt, Identität durch Intuition, Klang und Selbstfindung neu zu definieren. Inspiriert vom Torusfeld – der visuellen Darstellung von Klang, Energie und atomarer Schwingung – erforscht das Album den kontinuierlichen Fluss zwischen dem inneren Selbst und dem Universum.

„“Hope Dose“ befasst sich mit unserer täglichen Entscheidung zwischen Selbstzerstörung und Selbstverbesserung. Es geht darum, die dunklere Seite des Selbst zu akzeptieren und anzunehmen und zu erkennen, dass Wachstum erfordert, sich den inneren Schatten zu stellen, anstatt vor ihnen zu fliehen. Entscheidungen haben Konsequenzen, aber letztendlich kommt es beim Überleben oft darauf an, an der Hoffnung festzuhalten und manchmal Spannungen durch ein unverfälschtes, kompromissloses Leben abzubauen“, sagt die Band.

There is something deliciously perverse about timing. Valentine’s Day: roses, restaurants, ritual romance. And here comes Chelsey Boy, Los Angeles singer, songwriter, and multimedia artist, lowering the lights and stretching the room into something cooler, stranger, slightly dangerous.

Formerly one half of Intimatchine and now aligned with Cold Showers, she has long operated in that fertile zone where electronic pulse meets post-punk poise and darkwave desire. Her voice is the instrument that bends the air: at once controlled and on the brink, a tightrope between composure and collapse. It doesn’t shout. It insinuates. It lingers in the bloodstream.

Her cover of Singapore Sling’s 2011 track Freaks feels less like reclamation. The original drifted with minimalist ease; Chelsey Boy slows the bloodstream further, thickens the temperature, and introduces a sly trace of menace. The space widens…the tension tightens. There’s a teasing cruelty at play, an elegance edged with something feral. You at first might think of HTRK’s cool remove, Tamaryn’s gauze, Drab Majesty’s otherworldly glow, Zola Jesus at her most imperious, Garbage in nocturnal mood – but here Chelsey Boy moves at her own deliberate pace with this version. It’s stranger, sluggish, and more ominous.

“I’ve always loved Singapore Sling,” she confesses. “I heard Freaks again while driving out to Joshua Tree and thought, yes…but let’s make it cruel. A slow burn for my fellow yearners this Valentine’s Day.”

Cruel is the right word. The track unfolds like a held breath. Synths hover, bass lines circle, percussion taps at the ribs. Her strong vocal glides above it all, at times restrained to a whisper, at times fraying at the edges, suggesting hysteria without surrendering to it. The result is intimate and unsettling. Romance, recast. Desire, disciplined. For all you lonelyhearts out there munching on Brach’s conversation hearts through the tears, this is a cathartic balm.

There is a point, somewhere between the end of summer and the first honest chill of September, where romance becomes an idea you carry rather than a person you hold. Philadelphia’s Forest Circles locate that point and press on it gently, as if checking for a bruise.

Astronaut unfolds like a private transmission intercepted at dusk, Angel Ocaña’s voice light yet loaded, each phrase suspended in a thin atmosphere of doubt and desire. He remains bound to the one who has drifted away, and though time has passed, the body knows what pride attempts to conceal: the bones registering absence with forensic precision. Jealousy slips in almost imperceptibly, regret close behind, as the song circles separation without spectacle, moving patiently, carrying its memory with quiet insistence.

Ocaña’s elegant arrangement resists clutter. Synths swell in slow arcs, then recede, as though measuring breath. A grand piano appears not as decoration but as punctuation, striking clean, considered notes that open space rather than fill it. Rhythm here is less propulsion than presence, a soft insistence that the heart keeps time even when the future feels stalled. There is tenderness, and there is possession, and they coexist without resolution.

Who is to blame when love thins out? This track looks upward, toward stars that offer distance instead of direction. He looks sideways, toward the rival who now receives the kiss that once felt permanent. The conflict is intimate, almost domestic, yet it hints at something cosmic: endings that do not conclude but linger as altered states.

The black-and-white video amplifies this suspended mood. Static bleeds into memory. A sparkler flares in the dark; a hand drifts along a wooden fence; grain bends under wind; a piano call echoes through a room that seems both present and recalled. These images feel ritualistic, small ceremonies for a relationship already archived. The aesthetic carries a touch of the psychedelic, a mild distortion that suggests how recollection rearranges fact.

Fragility can certainly radiate, but in Astronaut, distance becomes a medium through which love is examined rather than erased. The result is a song that balances ache and acceptance, its orbit steady, its light low but constant.

Somewhere in Sweden, where the trees stand as silent witnesses and rehearsal rooms feel like chapels, The Secret French Postcards have been quietly refining their sense of drama since 2016. Olli Ohlander stepped away once, trading amplifiers for asphalt and skate decks, only to return with a clearer appetite for atmosphere. Alongside Fredrik Ringvall, Peter Björkman, and Martin Broman, he now shapes songs that feel both windswept and intimate.

Blush embodies that duality with poise. Guitars sweep and shimmer, outlining crisp lines over a steady rhythm, while Ohlander’s voice dips into a smooth, persuasive croon. A hint of harmonica, a whisper of blues, flows through the arrangement, anchoring the song in an earthy tone even as it hints at the romantic coolness of early ’80s nocturnal pop. James Aparicio’s mix creates space, allowing each element to have its own emotional nuance. The overall sound echoes influences like The Church, The The, and She Past Away.

The lyrics circle a figure who is publicly affable yet privately barricaded, guarding their wounded heart. As the band explains: “Blush explores a broken heart and the struggle to let loved ones in, showing how someone can appear warm to the world while being emotionally closed off, with blushing symbolizing love, vulnerability, or hurt.”

The accompanying video for Blush extends the idea in stark monochrome. Masks drift across the screen. Windows suggest alternate selves. A garden becomes a theatre of stillness. A barstool holds someone alone with their thoughts. It feels like wandering through disparate memories, staged in film noir-style fragments.

We are creatures born of a star, yet here we stand, daring to defy it. Alex Okami‘s latest single, Night Terrors, opens like a rebellion against the very light that made us: an oath sworn in the glare of creation.

Drawing from the cool austerity of The Cure, the devotional ache of Depeche Mode, and the stark romanticism of Joy Division, Alex Okami works within a nocturnal lineage fluent in restraint and controlled desire. His sound carries the poise associated with Twin Tribes and the tensile minimalism of She Past Away, shaping familiar materials into something personal and pressurized. Night Terrors forms the project’s dark heart.

“In a world full of hatred, I find solace in these Night Terrors,” says Okami.

That line feels like creed. Devotion becomes a gravitational pull, drawing two souls into a perilous orbit where love and annihilation share a trajectory. Dreams blur into pursuit, pursuit into obsession. In another’s fear, the self is revealed. Romance ignites, then combusts: stardust colliding with darkness, desire rushing headlong toward doom. It moves with a steady churn: guitars circling as if pacing a locked room, drums landing with a stubborn thud. There’s a nervous brightness in the riff, born from staring too long at something forbidden. His low, steady baritone drops into and anchors the mix, steady enough to make the walls feel like they’re quietly closing in.  The result thrives on that tightly held tension.

The names you choose The labels you press onto me. Believe me, I don’t care 

Misanthropy is frequently mistaken for disdain for the world, but it’s more accurately a way to protect oneself from disappointment. It’s the stance of someone who has observed carefully, felt profoundly, and then quietly pulled back. In “Mizantrop”, She Past Away transforms that withdrawal into conscious clarity—identifying the condition without exaggeration and remaining composed rather than storming out. This isn’t about isolation as entertainment, but about distance as a means of self-preservation.

Following the expressionist seclusion of Ä�nziva, the Turkish post-punk duo return with their video for “Mizantrop”, the title track from their eagerly awaited seven-track LP, Mizantrop. Shot in stark black and white, the video strips away narrative excess in favor of performance-focused austerity—measured movement, fixed gazes, and a controlled visual language that mirrors the song’s emotional posture. Where Ä�nziva retreated inward, Mizantrop holds its ground.

Musically, “Mizantrop” leans decisively into a classic post-punk and French coldwave lineage, guided by a guitar melody shaped around intricate minor chord arcs. The line ascends and descends in steady cycles, tracing an emotional contour that recalls the melancholia of bands like Asylum Party and Mary Goes Round.

Lyrically, “Mizantrop” rejects negotiation. “A misanthrope clad in black,” Volkan Caner sings—not as provocation, but as fact. The refrain—“Believe me, I don’t care”—reads not as apathy but as emotional economy, a refusal to engage with imposed labels or external judgment.

But before a single note is played in the video, fellow Turkish artist Hakan Tamar addresses the camera with the detached authority of a European music-television presenter, formally situating the performance before yielding the frame to the band.

“Hello, today we have no news to refresh your zest for life. Instead, we bring you a duo clad in black, at odds with themselves, yet speaking words that touch the heart.

This isn’t just a song or a performance. Please welcome She Past Away with the anthem of a lost generation: Misanthrope.”

Directed by Damla Es with Ay�Galip as co-director, the video reflects that posture with discipline. Cinematography by Ege Uysal emphasizes contrast, stillness, and negative space. Each member occupies a separate pool of light, isolated yet synchronized, reinforcing coexistence without communion.

Night becomes a small act of resistance. When the day has been parceled, priced, and exhausted, darkness offers back the self unmetered. In the hours without bosses or ledgers, desire regains its pulse. Escape is a refusal to let every breath be productive. To choose the night is to claim the preservation of one’s inner life, briefly sovereign, fleetingly whole.

South American post-punks PILGRIMS step forward with Blissing Hour, the third single from their forthcoming album Gemini, arriving like a pressure release timed to collective exhaustion. The song tempers post-punk severity with a swell of euphoria, letting tension breathe as the rhythm nudges bodies out of paralysis and into movement. Sung in both English and Spanish, it treats the night as common ground; a place where urgency slackens, instincts sharpen, and connection feels immediate rather than mediated.

That instinct animates the song’s center. Dance floors become temporary sanctuaries, sensation a shared language. Nighttime here is a claimed space, alive with agency, where pleasure carries purpose and delight signals survival.

“Joy can be a form of resistance,” explains vocalist Juls Garat. “This is true for everyone, but especially for marginalized groups. If we’re not hustling, we’re supposed to be doom scrolling and getting depressed and enraged by watching the news and fighting with strangers on social media. But we can always choose stepping into the real world. We can choose community and hope and joy and art and fun. And sometimes that’s the rebellion we need.”

Directed by Stephanie Houten, the performance video captures the band’s onstage presence in a darkened club, weaving it together with moments of ritualistic dance and blissful reverie.

Based in Boston, PILGRIMS began in 2018 as Pilgrims of Yearning, founded by Chilean vocalist Juls Garat and Colombian musician Claudio Marcio after meeting in Chile and emigrating together to the U.S. Their sound has been described as “your soundtrack to introspection, lament, and disdain,” and as an eclectic mix of post-punk, coldwave, and Latin American influences. They have previously shared stages with She Past Away, Kaelan Mikla and Vision Video.

Early releases, including 2022’s Hadal EP and the single La Mar, paired rigid rhythms with airy guitars and synths, nodding toward post-punk lineage while asserting a clear emotional center. Now joined by bassist Sean Woodbury, the band reintroduces itself with a sharpened name and focus.

“The name PILGRIMS reflects not only our spiritual journey, but our living experience as immigrants, our pilgrimage,” Marcio explains. “The new album is touched by our experience as immigrants existing in this moment and place in history. We feel a lot of people can relate to the archetype of the traveler, the wanderer.” On Blissing Hour, that motion is felt in every step forward.

LA-based duo Hallows, aka Vanee Dusoruth and Dom Rolando, came up far from the easy mythologies of cool: Mauritius to Fargo is not a romance arc, it’s a weather event – and you can hear that displacement baked into the bones of Wear You Out. This is music made by outsiders who figured out how to make a room move, and who learned that feeling too much can still be a physical act.

And Wear You Out runs on a bassline that knows exactly where your hips live, then tightens the vice. The rhythm keeps pushing, a clean-lined insistence that feels almost cheerful until the lyrics lean in and whisper something uncomfortable in your ear. This is love as attrition. Touch as erosion. The hook doesn’t beg; it presses, again and again, until you understand how desire can feel like a closed room with no windows and excellent lighting. You dance because standing still would be worse.

The song is about that push and pull between desire and self-erasure, when you crave closeness while resisting surrender. Love feels coercive, addictive, and exhausting, fueled by doubt and control. Longing becomes a test of power, intimacy turning into mutual depletion, with need eclipsing selfhood entirely.

A familiar club rhythm pulses throughout the track, exuding sultry Italo warmth blended with sleek modern electronics and a buoyant glow. Yet, the song’s most striking feature is its measured sleekness. Emotions are tightly packed, under pressure, with vocals capturing that sweet-bitter desire for a hot energy vampire who drains you dry. It leans in, unflinching, allowing the tension to simmer.

Directed by Vivian Villa-Caratachea, the video for Wear You Out leans fully into performance, putting the band front and center and letting their chemistry do the talking. It crackles with livewire energy: loose, flirtatious, and slightly unhinged, capturing the thrill of watching a band fully locked in and feeding off its own momentum.

Hallows have been orbiting this terrain since the beginning: DIY resolve, underground patience, a slow ascent built on EPs, albums, and long stretches of road. With no formal musical training or industry safety net, Dom and Vanee started with little more than determination, shaping songs that mirrored their own lives: longing, resilience, and the quiet resolve of making your own way. From those early moments of hope and uncertainty, Hallows grew into something durable: proof that persistence can carry its own meaning and beauty.

Wear You Out cuts especially deep. It moves quickly, strikes cleanly, and knows when to let the beat take over the body and when to let the words leave a mark. Intimacy here isn’t gentle—it bruises, then pulls you back onto the floor.

Co-written with producer Matia Simovich (INHALT / Infinite Power Studios), the track threads his melodic highlines through Hallows’ colder core, creating something both close and widescreen. It offers a clear glimpse into Dream, an album that dwells where love, obsession, and hope press against one another.
