Die Hardcore / Thrash Metal / Crossover-Band CAGE FIGHT hat mit „Un Bon Souvenir“ einen weiteren Video-Clip von ihrem kommenden Album „Exuvia“ veröffentlicht.

„Dieser Song bezieht sich auf eine frühere Erfahrung in einer Band, die von einer toxischen, manipulativen Person kontrolliert wurde. Er erinnert daran, dass man sich nicht selbst weiterbringt, indem man andere herunterzieht“, sagt Sängerin Rachel Aspe.

Davor ist mit „Pig“ ein weiterer Video-Clip erschienen. Im Song prangert die Band gruselige Männer an, die Frauen unaufgefordert Nachrichten im Internet schicken. Das Video enthält echte Nachrichten, die direkt an Rachel Aspe und andere Frauen geschickt wurden, die sich bereit erklärt haben, ihre Erfahrungen zu teilen.

„“Pig“ ist Ausdruck meiner Abscheu gegenüber Männern, die unaufgefordert intime Bilder und Nachrichten verschicken, Grenzen überschreiten und Frauen digital belästigen. Ich habe im Laufe der Jahre Hunderte davon erhalten, und es ist verrückt, wenn man bedenkt, dass Frauen regelmäßig solche Nachrichten bekommen. Ich wollte ihnen einfach meine Abscheu entgegenbrüllen, das Bewusstsein für dieses Problem schärfen und Solidarität mit anderen Frauen zeigen, die diesen Missbrauch erleben“, sagt die Sängerin.

Im Sommer ist mit „IHYG“ eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip erschienen.

„“IHYG“ ist eine Reaktion auf ein zutiefst traumatisches Erlebnis, das mein Leben grundlegend verändert hat. Es hat mein Selbstvertrauen und mein Selbstwertgefühl zerstört und mich in eine tiefe Krise gestürzt, aber ich bin dadurch stärker und widerstandsfähiger geworden als je zuvor. Dieses Erlebnis hat mich dazu inspiriert, zum ersten Mal Songtexte zu schreiben, woraus dieser Song entstanden ist“, sagt Sängerin Rachel Aspe.

„Exuvia“, das von Sam Bloor in den Lower Lane Studios aufgenommen und von Jim Pinder gemixt wurde, folgt auf das 2022er-Debütalbum „Cage Fight“ nach und wird am 1. Mai 2026 via Spinefarm erscheinen. Dazwischen haben die Briten ihr eigenes Bier auf den Markt gebracht. Das in Zusammenarbeit mit der in Chelmsford ansässigen Mikrobrauerei Radio City Beer Works gebraute „CAGE FIGHT’s Pick Your Fighter“ ist ein Session IPA mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 4,8 %, das ausschließlich mit Citra-Hopfen gebraut wird.

A small square of plastic on your keyboard becomes a song, and ACTORS treat it like a match you strike for light…or a smoke. CTRL lands as their first single of the year, a muscular four-on-the-floor banger that shoves the band’s familiar colours further into the red, where warnings blink, and bodies keep moving anyway.

There’s a private joke in that title. Everyone knows the key: the one you press when you mean business, when you mean shortcuts, when you mean to undo the thing you just did with confidence. Dance music has always loved a good command. Here, the command misbehaves. The hook arrives with the clean certainty of a road sign; your feet obey before your brain files the paperwork.

Guitar licks flash through the synths like a grin in a crowded room: quick, telling, gone.

“Our first single of 2026 is a rally cry, a reaction to a world spinning out of control,” says Jason Corbett. “Being true to yourself is an act of resistance.”

That line reads like it belongs on a poster, and maybe it should. The song itself keeps it more personal: longing tightened, memory erased, regret ankle-deep in flooded streets. Devotion dressed in black, misery with teeth. The refrain circles back again and again, a little mantra for anyone who has stared at the ceiling and wondered who’s holding the remote.

ACTORS have earned their legs the hard way, touring the USA, Canada, and Europe, turning clubs into temporary nations. Festival stamps on the passport include Amphifest, Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Cold Waves, Substance, Death Disco, Verboden, and plenty of unnamed rooms where the lights go low and the night gives up its secrets.

There are moments on our small, turning planet when two people gather their histories and convert them into air that trembles. In Berlin, that long crossroads of language, loss, and late-night light, Her Absence Fill The World steps forward again with Dead Hands II, a renewed meditation drawn from their first version of the song in 2022.

Founded in the restless precincts of Neukölln, Kubi Öztürk and Sascha Kimel call their approach Neue Türkische Welle, a phrase that carries geography inside it. Since their formation, they have released two EPs and carried their songs into rooms filled with strangers who leave altered in quiet ways.

The original Dead Hands now turns three years old. Anniversaries are forms of orbit; the body returns to a point in space, yet it is never the same body. Dead Hands II is less a revision than a reframing. The vocal line rises with a fragile steadiness, moving between a solitary voice and a gathered choir. The lead hovers in a register that suggests lullaby and lament at once, a tenderness held with care. There are echoes of artists who have stood alone before vast audiences: Sinéad O’Connor, PJ Harvey, Chrystabell, Zola Jesus, yet the resemblance is atmospheric rather than imitative, like distant constellations sharing a hue.

The arrangement opens space around the voice. Notes arrive with patience as harmonies bloom and recede. There is a sense of distance measured in memory. The duo seems intent on examining the gap between who they were when the song first appeared and who they are now. Identity, after all, is not fixed; it evolves, as stars evolve, through pressures both internal and immense.

To revive a song is to admit that time has altered it. The past self and the present self rarely align perfectly. In this new iteration, the piece feels illuminated from a different angle. What once may have seemed singular now appears plural: two artists, two histories, two vantage points. Even between them, there is a subtle tension—creative, careful—like the gravitational pull between bodies that neither collide nor drift apart.

Listening to Dead Hands II, one senses that longing can be luminous without spectacle. It can move with quiet resolve. It can be sung softly and still travel great distances. In the end, the song offers continuity and suggests that we are, each of us, revised by time, our voices deepened, our harmonies broadened, our earlier selves still audible.

The chorus opens wide without tipping into excess. The verses walk a tightrope between restraint and release. It’s a careful balance, and LATEX keep their footing.

Dieses Projekt aus San Francisco ist endlich mal wieder auf der Bildfläche zurück. John Michael Zorko – der Macher hinter den Projekt – versammelte wieder einige Koryphäen des ätherischen Wave/Heavenly Voices für diese knapp 78 Minuten um sich, u.a. Dru Allen von This Ascension oder Ryan und Anji Lum von Love Spirals. Diese sanfte, sehr ätherische Musik schickt den Hörer in die späten 80s-Mitte der 90’s zurück – eine Zeit voller wundervoller Releases – sei es Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Chandeen, This Ascension oder Black Tape For A Blue Girl. Labels wie Projekt Records, Tess Records, 4AD oder Hyperium waren Hit-Garanten innerhalb der melodiös-ätherischen Wave-Ecke und die vielen träumerisch/romantischen Veröffentlichungen waren für mich als heranwachsender Wave Fan für eine Weile ein wichtiger musikalischer Teil der Selbstfindung. Inhaltlich dreht sich bei „Metanoia“ alles um Wachstum, Veränderung und man greift allegorisch auf antike Themen dabei zurück. FALLING YOU ist im Vergleich zu oben benannten Acts um ein vielfaches breiter aufgestellt, fließt von düsteren Ambient, ätherischen Wave Pop und fast Gospel-artigen Atmosphären einiges an Stilmittel durch die meist überlangen Songs. Es gibt Momente, da driftet man experimentell über Minuten durch Sound-Collagen (‚Inside The Whale‘), findet sich dann aber kontrastreich immer wieder in fast poppigen Gefilden wieder (‚Ariadne‘). Da ist man ähnlich des kultigen 4AD-Projektes This Mortal Coil um Macher Ivo Watts um viele Ausdrucksmittel bemüht und dies macht die überlange Platte zu einer spannenden Entdeckungsreise. Klassisch eingängige Wave-Klänge eröffnen in ‚Through the Stone‘, ‚Demiurge-Momento Eorum‘ kommt gleich viel sakraler, spiritueller und würde keinen Dead Can Dance Fan verprellen. Wunderschöne, sphärisch in Hall getauchte Klänge bestimmen ‚Flesh To Tree‘. All das mit trippiger Rhythmik, melancholischen Gitarren-Effekten und sehnsuchtsvoller Melodik – erinnert mich an die besseren Dark Orange Stücke – was will der geneigte Genre-Fan mehr? Mit über 10 Minuten driftet man in ‚Alcyone‘ dank der immer zuckersüssen Vocals von Dru Allen verlassen, aber glücklich durch’s Paradies – Freunde von Chandeen, Soul Whirling Somewhere, This Ascension oder Stay Frightened werden diese Wattebällchen-Wolkendecke lieben, da bin ich mir sicher! Diese Klänge sind so  deep, friedlich und haben nichts mit der kalten Aussenwelt zu tun. ‚Ari’s Song‘ – einfach nur abheben, loslassen mit diesen tiefen, schwebenden Frequenzen. Wie lässig da mal eine Mundharmonika in den sphärischen Ambient Pop hinein installiert wird, das hat was. Der generell sehr voluminöse, tiefe Sound-Teppich ist wie geschaffen für diese Art des musikalischen Schwebezustands und episch lange Songs wie ‚They Give Me Flowers‘ oder ‚Philomena‘ nutzen diese Weite innerhalb der geschaffenen Räume hervorragend aus. Ein Album wie ein Film, ein langer Traum, aus dem man nicht wirklich zurück mag, ist doch alles in warmen Farbtönen gebettet, verträumt und harmonisch trotz kleiner experimenteller Ecken und Kanten. Mehr Ambient als kurze poppige Songstrukturen wie bei oben genannten gibt den Sounds diese ambienten Loslass-Dynamiken. Super Album!

Die Hardcore-Veteranen PRO-PAIN haben einen Plattenvertrag mit Napalm Records abgeschlossen. Die Comeback-Platte trägt den Titel „Stone Cold Anger“ und erscheint am 15. Mai 2026 über das österreichische Label – es ist die erste Scheibe seit rund elf Jahren. Bassist und Sänger Gary Meskil erklärt:

Two decades deep in underground electronics, Voytek Korab has traded airport lounges and DJ booths for the blunt force of a band. After co-founding My Favorite Robot and living the itinerant rhythm of global club culture, he now reappears in Montreal with Modern Friend, a duo formed alongside Kosta Megalos of Flowers and Sea Creatures. The aim is simple: songs with skin in the game.

Their sassy new single, Gordon, follows Someone’s Gotta Save Us with a grin and a raised eyebrow. Written as an ode to Kim Gordon, it pulls energy from Sonic Youth’s Goo period and filters it through drum machines and glass-edged synth lines. The track moves with a sly physicality, its structure tight yet teasing, bass and beat snapping into place while streaks of noise scrape across the surface.

Lyrically, it is breathless and brazen. Obsessive admiration tangles with bratty affection. Playground provocation sits beside art-punk longing. “I miss you, my sugar bear,” repeats like a dare, pet names piled high until devotion starts to tilt. Feedback and disco glare blur the boundaries between desire and indifference. Love becomes a taunt, a chant, a confession delivered with lipstick smudged at the corner of the mouth.

The result lands somewhere between electro-clash sleaze and post-punk abrasion. Clean electronic textures keep the body moving while shards of guitar noise cut through the gloss. The vocal performance leans toward Gordon’s cool cadence, half-spoken and half-sung, a studied homage that feels both affectionate and irreverent.

The video extends the mood. Directed by Montreal native Gavin Morais and filmed at the city’s after-hours haunt The Cave, it places the band in the periphery. Centre stage belongs to MSTR SSTR, whose choreography and lip-sync turn the song into a sly performance of devotion. Limbs slice through smoke and strobe; gestures sharpen the track’s wink and bite. Modern Friend step back, letting the fantasy play out in full view.

For Korab, this shift from DJ decks to duet feels like a return to essentials. The club remains in the bloodstream, but here it serves a different purpose. Gordon is fan mail written in eyeliner and feedback, a love letter with its teeth showing.

You could label the newly minted Corvin a supergroup, but that feels imprecise. This is a collaboration in the truest sense: members of Me And That Man, Shores Of Null, Guineapig, and Otus folding their separate histories into a single, sharply defined vision. The result is a formidable Gothic Rock project fluent in the grammar of the 1980s, deepened by the genre’s subsequent evolutions. The name signals omen and acuity, echoing the keen watchfulness of the raven. Their latest offering, Dead End Pyre, makes that intelligence unmistakable.

“Dead End Pyre is a song about witnessing the collapse of the world while burning with it, embracing a romantic form of nihilism and dancing on the ruins as everything turns to ash,” says the band. During those dire moments where lovers cling to one another while those structures fall, blood and tears are transfigured into ritual. The chorus circles the image of a “world on fire,” returning again and again, as if repetition itself might cauterise the wound.

Davide Straccione’s deep, weathered vocal is central to the song’s power. He delivers the lines with a sense of scale, as though addressing both a single body and a crumbling civilisation. Around him, Francesco Argentini and Gino Chiarizia construct tall, reverb-laden guitar architectures, lines arcing and colliding. Matteo Bassoli’s bass anchors the drama with a steady, funereal weight, while Leopoldo Russo Ceccotti’s drums move with processional intent. The bridge is immediate and memorable, a classic Gothic pivot that tightens the emotional focus before releasing it back into the anthemic chorus. There is a romance of extinction: kneeling to the void, gilding it, choosing the night over the glare of morning. The song portrays intimacy as both sanctuary and rebellion, two forces bound together as the empire collapses behind them.

The video, directed by Underroom Studio, was shot in stark, retro black-and-white and captures the raw, physical energy of a live performance. Its aesthetic and atmosphere mirror the song’s choral intensity. Monochrome sharpens the silhouettes. It feels archival and immediate at once, as though unearthed from a lost broadcast and reinserted into the present tense.

Corvin sound deliberate, invested, intent on situating themselves within a lineage that includes The Sisters of Mercy, Type O Negative, The 69 Eyes, and Fields Of The Nephilim, while articulating their own variation on grandeur and gloom. Dead End Pyre functions as an invocation and an introduction: a declaration that even in ruin, there can be communion; even in fire, a form of clarity.

Unease doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it accumulates through cycles—habits of thought, repeated gestures, sounds that return without resolution. That sense of slow internal pressure sits at the core of Monopolar by Strange Fruit, the Jakarta-based group known for blending subdued electronic rhythms with softened shoegaze contours. After a long period of quiet, the band re-emerges with new material slated for 2026. Rather than signaling rupture or reinvention, the track feels deliberately continuous: restrained, inward-facing, and attentive to atmosphere over declaration.

Monopolar, the new single from their forthcoming album Drips, unfolds through circular motion rather than forward thrust. The track advances at a measured pace, anchored by a low-end pulse that presses on without resolving, while textures repeat and subtly recalibrate. Nothing here rushes toward climax; instead, the song sustains itself through duration, allowing small shifts in tone and weight to register as meaning.

Baldi Calvianca’s vocal enters in fragments—elongated syllables, wavering phrases, breaths held just long enough to register tension. The voice remains suspended between states, neither fully grounded nor fully drifting. Synthesist Irza Aryadiaz has described the track as occupying a film-score-like dimension, and that sensibility carries through the arrangement: pressure builds through repetition, mirroring a mental space shaped by looping thought rather than release. Listeners familiar with artists such as The Horrors, Jagwar Ma, TVAM, Ulrich Schnauss, Primal Scream, or Pale Blue may recognize shared coordinates in tone and pacing. Monopolar, however, stays firmly within its own internal logic—defined by containment, motion, and quiet insistence.

“This is essentially a restless, unsettled song—an odd and slightly absurd mood,” says Calvianca. “Monopolar represents a bottled-up unease, the kind of activity that happens when you’re in dialogue with yourself. It’s about holding onto dreams and hope in the middle of a world that’s growing darker.” The unease he describes is not theatrical; it remains contained, cycling inward, sustained by rhythm rather than release.

The official music video, directed by Mellow Splice, extends this inward logic into visual form. Shot at PasMing Experience, the crew treated the camera like a musical instrument. Drawing on the hypnotic blues of the Indian Ocean and layers of optical distortion, the video blurs reality and imagination, capturing Strange Fruit as a rock-and-roll band performing somewhere between the physical world and the interior spaces of their own minds. Image and motion follow the same principles as the track itself, favoring repetition, texture, and perceptual drift over narrative clarity.

35 years after their inception Nittedal-based TULUS are still going strong and return with a new album. Only three years after its predecessor, the notorious three-piece is back with their eight full-length entitled Morbid Desires which Darkness Shall Rise are very proud to be releasing.-> >;

Instead of straying from their path, Morbid Desires comprises nine tracks that continue the trademark TULUS sound. An abundance of hellishly catchy riffs moulded into concise mid-tempo songs performed by proficient musicians accompanied by Blodstrup’s grim vocals are still the main characteristics of TULUS. Having said that, Morbid Desires is by no means a one-dimensional album. Fast parts, beautifully chanted vocals, flamenco and acoustic guitars etc. woven into some of the songs provide the album with plenty of variety. “Sabbat”, the album’s closer and by far the longest track surely sticks out the most. Undeniably conceived as a tribute to BLACK SABBATH the song is nothing short of amazing and impressively proves the outstanding musicianship of TULUS’ members.-> >;

Founded by Samoth and Ihsahn in 1991, EMPEROR became widely acclaimed for their innovation and sophistication. They unquestionably rank among Black Metal’s most seminal bands. Throughout their exceptional career, they released landmark albums that will forever belong to the genre’s canon. Given EMPEROR’s status and popularity, it may then come as a surprise to some that this legendary band was a side-project of the Norwegian duo. This is especially true given that, at the time that EMPEROR was established, Samoth and Ihsahn’s main band was THOU SHALT SUFFER.-> >;

Although quite a short-lived entity and bound to forever dwell in the shadows of its members’ celebrated offshoot, the material which had spawned under the name THOU SHALT SUFFER is notable and worth being paid attention to. Even though the three recordings which comprises of a five-track-rehearsal, the EP Open The Mysteries Of Your Creation, and the demo Into The Woods Of Belial that the horde managed to unleash in 1991, are no less dark than what EMPEROR came up with subsequently, THOU SHALT SUFFER weren’t a Black Metal band, but were sworn to Death Metal of a distinctly tenebrous nature. Like many Norwegian bands, including IMMORTAL, ENSLAVED, BORKNAGAR, and HADES ALMIGHTY – who began as Death Metal acts under different names in the late 1980s and early 1990s before shifting towards Black Metal, Ihsahn and Samoth, aided by various members, (most infamously Ildjarn on bass), cut their teeth in a Death Metal outfit. It is sonically somewhat comparable to the earliest period of DARKTHRONE, PARADISE LOST, SENTENCED and the like when all of them still played Death Metal, and with some hints of CARCASS, which are especially audible in the fast parts, THOU SHALT SUFFER put to tape some great Death Metal darkness of lasting quality.-> >;

Despite the members being very young at the time the recordings were done, the tracks are proficiently composed and competently performed. They frequently shift between doomy, mid-tempo, and fast sections that are accompanied by Ihsahn’s morbid growls, which have nothing in common with his high shrieks that he would later be known for. This, plus some obscure keyboards on top, which adds a sombre layer to the compositions, the band were able to turn their music into a mandatory feast for devotees of dark Metal.-> >;
