DEIMOS‘ DAWN veröffentlichen am 8. Mai 2026  das Livealbum „Live To The Slaughter“. Die Thrash Metal-Band hat dazu 13 Songs bei ihrer „God Of Pain“ EP-Release-Show am 26. Oktober 2024 im Subkultur in Hannover aufgenommen.

Die Black Metal-Band TARASK hat nach „Evocation III“ mit „Evocation VI“ einen zweiten Track ihres kommenden Albums „Sitra Ahra“ veröffentlicht. Es ist nach „Pharus Morti“ (2021) das zweite Album des französischen Solo-Projekts und befasst sich – anhand einer auf das Debütalbum aufbauenden Story – mit Konsumismus, der modernen Gesellschaft und einer Kritik an einer Welt, in der der Einzelne gewaltsam zur Konformität gezwungen wird und mit seinen Dämonen allein gelassen wird.

Die Melodic Death Metal-Band RAVENMOCKER hat mit „Where The Raven Flies“ eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

„“Where The Raven Flies“ ist ein hymnischer, filmischer Track, der die Entstehungsgeschichte des Raven Mocker erzählt, eines Fabelwesens aus den Überlieferungen der Adirondacks und der Cherokee. Der Raven Mocker, der als Vorbote des Todes gilt, ernährt sich von Kranken und Sterbenden und raubt seinen Opfern die verbleibenden Lebensjahre. Die Single zeichnet ein lebhaftes Bild von der Kreatur, die über Wälder und Dörfer schwebt und sowohl als Sensenmann als auch als Omen auftritt“, erklärt die Band.

Anfang das Jahres veröffentlichte die band die Single „Infallible“  mitsamt Video-Clip. Es war der erste Release der US-Amerikaner aus Kalifornien und erzählt die Geschichte eines Mannes, der zu lange in der Dunkelheit gelebt und alles für eine Instanz gegeben hat, die ihm nie etwas zurückgegeben hat. Der Track fängt den Moment ein, in dem er sich endlich davon löst und Wachstum, Klarheit und Selbstbestimmung dem Chaos vorzieht.

Die Symphonic Metal-Band MYSTFALL hat „Sleeper In The Abyss“ einen Video-Clip ihres kommenden Albums „Embers of A Dying World“ veröffentlicht. Es ist nach „Celestial Vision“ (2023) das zweite Album der Griechen aus Athen und beschreibt eine alternative Dimension, in der Träume lebendig sind und mit Albträumen kämpfen, um den menschlichen Geist am Leben zu erhalten.

„Embers of A Dying World“ wurde von Dionisis Christodoulatos (SORROWFUL ANGELS) in den CFN Recordings Studios produziert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Giannis Nakos ausgestattet. Release-Termin ist der 20. März 2026 via Scarlet Records. Vorab gibt es auch den Opener „Whispers In The Tempest“ und den Titeltrack zu hören.

Es ist eigentlich ein unbedeutender ein Nebenkriegsschauplatz und trotzdem bestimmt es den Diskurs: Mit ihrem zehnten Studioalbum verpassen sich LAMB OF GOD ein kleines Makeover. Steril, kalt und modern wirkt das überarbeitete Bandlogo, das „Into Oblivion“ ziert. Ein wenig erinnert uns das Design an die DARK TRANQUILLITY der 2000er Jahre, als Layout-Künstler Niklas Sundin gerade seine abstrakt-futuristische Phase durchlebte.

Aber wird das auch der US-amerikanischen Metal-Größe gerecht, deren klassischer Schriftzug bei aller Simplizität doch unverkennbar war? Immerhin versinken LAMB OF GOD nicht sofort in Beliebigkeit. Die Rhythmussektion arbeitet weiterhin präzise wie ein Uhrwerk, was folglich in diesem schwer nachzuahmenden Groove resultiert, der die Band auch 2026 noch auszeichnet. Federführend sei hier Art Cruz zu nennen, dessen Drumming den starken Titeltrack mit einigen Details ausschmückt und seinen eigenen Fahrplan bis zum Schluss beibehält. Nachteil dieser letztgenannten Konsequenz: Eine gewisse Monotonie ist über die komplette Spielzeit nicht zu vermeiden, zumal die Breakdowns oft nach demselben Muster gestrickt sind.

LAMB OF GOD setzen auf vertraute Strukturen, eingängiges Riffing und etwas Monotonie
Die Thrash-Wurzeln des Subgenres treten derweil im flotten „Parasocial Christ“ zu Tage und lassen sich überdies in „St. Catherine’s Wheel“ sowie „The Killing Floor“ ausmachen. Roh sowie massiv präsentiert sich zunächst das malmende „Sepsis“, bevor der Track zur Halbzeit an Tempo gewinnt. Schnell fällt auf, dass LAMB OF GOD beim Songwriting auf vertraute Strukturen setzen, das für gewöhnlich eingängige Riffing jedoch wenig abwechslungsreich gestalten.

Immer mittendrin finden wir Randy Blythe, dessen mächtige Vocals nichts von ihrer einschüchternden Dominanz eingebüßt haben, doch im hohen Bereich die frühere Variabilität nicht ganz erreichen. Dass der Frontmann sich mit dem Klargesang in „El Vacío“ breiter aufstellen will, ist darüber hinaus löblich, wenngleich der zurückgenommene Track als Zäsur vielleicht ein wenig zu früh kommt und so den anfänglichen Schwung ausbremst.

In der zweiten Hälfte büßt „Into Oblivion“ an Dringlichkeit ein
All diese kleinen Makel führen letztendlich dazu, dass „Into Oblivion“ in der zweiten Hälfte seine Dringlichkeit zusehends verliert. Zwar vermeiden LAMB OF GOD durch effiziente Arrangements größere Längen, doch auf markante Höhepunkte müssen wir im Gegenzug gleichermaßen verzichten.

Immerhin: Spaß macht uns das insgesamt kurzweilige Werk durchaus, dem es grundsätzlich an Qualität nicht mangelt. Nur in Erinnerung bleiben uns die einzelnen, an und für sich guten Stücke am Ende dieser 39 Minuten ebenfalls nicht – ein verschmitzter Verweis auf den Titel böte sich an, wenn da nicht das neue Bandlogo wäre, welches dem ambivalenten Dasein des Albums tatsächlich noch das passende, leidlich aussagekräftige Gesicht gibt.

Fuzz Rock aus Boston: Am 15. Mai 2026 bringen GOZU ihr neues Album „Gozu VI“ raus.

„Wir wollten etwas machen, das Menschen bewegt und einen Nerv trifft“, sagt Marc Gaffney, Sänger und Gitarrist von GOZU, über die Entstehung des sechsten Studioalbums der Band. „Während des Schreibens war ich emotional ziemlich angegriffen. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren habe ich mehr Gitarre gespielt als je zuvor. Ich ging zur Arbeit, ins Fitnessstudio, kam nach Hause, aß etwas und spielte dann Gitarre, bis ich ins Bett ging.“

Bettina Köster, formidable and trailblazing vocalist, songwriter, saxophonist, actress, and producer, has passed away on March 16th at age 66.

Köster began her music career in 1978, playing saxophone for an early lineup of Berlin-based avant-garde electronic band Din A Testbild, where she met like-minded musician Gudrun Gut. Koster was a member of German art collective genius dilettantes, members of which collaborated across several bands in a short period of time. Around the same time period, Köster and Gut would open Eisengrau, a shop that celebrated underground fashions, distrubuted fanzines, showed experimental films, and served as a hot spot for the genius dilettantes members to exchange ideas and conversation.

In the heat of the budding Neue Deutsche Welle movement, Köster and Gut (along with Beate Bartel and Eva-Maria Gößling) co-founded project Mania D., a deeply influential collective who recorded one single in 1980 that drew upon the experimental sides of post-punk, industrial, and music concrete. After performing in New York and releasing a live record that same year, Mania D. went their separate ways. While Gößling would join an early lineup of Die Krupps and Bartel would go on to perform with Matador, Einstürzende Neubauten, and Liaisons Dangereuses, Gut and Köster would quickly form Malaria! in 1981.

Malaria! served as a figurehead of the German post-punk and new wave scene, combining minimal electronics, experimental lyrics, and dark, abstract grooves. The duo released their first eponymous single in 1981, collaborating with percussionist Christine Hahn, who officially joined the band afterwards. The band quickly expanded to include Die Haut’s Susanne Kuhnke on synthesizer and multi-instrumentalist Manon Duursma. This solidified lineup of the band would record a session for legendary DJ John Peel in 1981. Peel would dub Köster (as well as Gut and Bartel) as the “Queens of Noise,” championing these early recordings and helping draw attention to the fruitful NDW scene.

Malaria! then recorded a series of legendary singles, including 1982’s “Kaltes Klares Wasser,” “Your Turn to Run,” and “How Do You Like My New Dog?” followed by the Emotion LP later that year. The success of these releases led to independent chart success throughout Europe and the United States as well as tours and supporting slots with Nina Hagen, The Slits, New Order, The Birthday Party, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and John Cale. Malaria! would dissolve in 1984, shortly after the release of the excellent Beat the Distance EP, consisting of recordings made in 1982-1984 and featuring two recordings of “You You,” both which can still be heard in clubs to date.

Köster, living in New York at the time, would embark upon a solo career and branch into film work, collaborating heavily with Swiss director Isabel Hegner. Malaria! would reunite for a brief period in the early 90s, releasing 1992’s Elation single and 1993’s Cheerio LP before disbanding once more, with their unique and innovative work serving as heavy inspiration to punk, alternative, electronic, and gothic bands to follow.

In the early 2000s, Köster would form Autonervous with San Francisco-based musician, fellow saxophonist, and singer Jessie Evans of The Vanishing. Autonervous would release a single in 2004 and an eponymous full-length LP in 2006. While still working in film, Köster released her first solo LP in 2009, taking its title after the nickname John Peel would bestow upon her at the beginning of her career. She would continue performing live throughout Europe and the US, performing at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and at New York’s legendary Wierd party. She would record a follow up, Kolonel Silvertop, in 2017.

At the time of her death, Köster was living in Italy. We truly wish all the best to her family, friends, and collaborators during this time.

Am 17. April 2026 veröffentlichen THUNDERMOTHER das Livealbum „Live’n’Alive“. Mitgeschnitten wurde das Album bei der THUNDERMOTHER Europa-Tour 2025, unter anderem in Köln und Göteborg. Nun hat die Band mit „Can You Feel it“ einen weiteren Mitschnitt geteilt, aufgenommen wurde der Track in Köln:

 

Einen Eindruck der Platte vermittelt außerdem das Lyric-Video „Hellevator„.

Als erste Single veröffentlichten die Schwedinnen den Livetrack „Whatever – Live in Gothenburg“:

Gitarristin Filippa Nässil hat eine besondere Beziehung zu dem Song:

„‚Whatever‘ liegt uns sehr am Herzen, denn wir haben den Song bei jeder einzelnen Show gespielt, seit der Song 2018 veröffentlicht wurde. Es ist einer meiner liebsten Songs für die Live-Performance. Diese Version unterscheidet sich von der Studio-Aufnahme und hat ein längeres 4-to-the-floor-Gitarrensolo. Der Kampf gegen die Drogen geht weiter – man braucht für Rock’n’Roll keine Drogen, man braucht Adrenalin!“

 

Das Album sei eine ungeschönte Momentaufnahme, betont die Bandgründerin:

„Alles ist live. Wir nutzen hier keine Backing-Tracks, wie es sonst heutzutage fast jede Band tut. Wir haben keine Overdubs und haben auch keine Instrumente neu aufgenommen. Es ist ALLES live und Rock’n’Roll. Ich an der Gitarre, Majsan Lindberg am Bass, Joan Massing an den Drums und Linnéa Vikström als Leadsängerin und in manchen Songs auch als Rhythmusgitarristin. An der Song-Reihenfolge haben wir auch nichts verändert – das ist unsere Setlist aus 2025. Genau so macht man das!“

EXODUS kündigen 12. Studioalbum an:

„Ob wir uns auf diesen Release freuen? Das ist eine Untertreibung. Wir haben alles in dieses Werk (sowie seinen bereits zu 80 Prozent fertigen Nachfolger, doch das ist eine Geschichte für ein andermal) gesteckt und wird sind sehr stolz darauf: Für ‚Goliath‘ haben wie so eng wie nie zuvor als Band zusammengearbeitet: Vier Songs kommen von Lee, die Lyrics von Gary, Rob, Lee und Tom, und es ist insgesamt einfach grandios. Mit einem Clip zum Titeltrack teilten EXODUS im Februar die zweite Single aus „Goliath“.  Der Song unterscheidet sich vom restlichen Material, wie die Band berichtet:

„‚Goliath‘ ist wahrscheinlich das Härteste, was wir je gemacht haben, und sicherlich der langsamste Song in unserem Repertoire, so nah an Doom Metal, wie EXODUS nur kommen kann – das ist pure, finstere Bösartigkeit. Unsere Freundin Katie Jacoby verwandelt mit ihren 18 Streicherspuren in der mittleren Harmoniepartie den Song von purem Horror in etwas Schönes.“

Mit „3111“ präsentiert die Thrash Metal-Band im Januar den ersten Song aus „Goliath“ als Stream, das Video zum Track wurde laut EXODUS von YouTube abgelehnt, da es zu brutal sei. Nun hat die Band das Video auf  ihrer Webseite exodus3111.com/video geteilt.

Das komplette Album „Goliath“ wird am 20. März 2026 veröffentlicht. Direkt nach der Veröffentlichung gehen EXODUS mit KREATOR, CARCASS und NAILS auf Tour.

Die brasilianische Electronic Noise Punk-Band DEAFKIDS hat mit „Cicatrizes Do Futuro“ ein neues Album angekündigt.

„Konzeptionell ist das Album eine eindringliche Diagnose einer Welt, die von ihren eigenen Machtfiktionen berauscht ist; es zeichnet die Anatomie einer systemischen Großtäuschung nach und untersucht deren Mechanismen psychologischer, sozialer und materieller Herrschaft, die unauslöschlichen Spuren, die Körper und Geist eingeprägt werden, sowie deren katastrophale Folgen. Es ist eine Reise von der vergifteten und süchtigen kollektiven Psyche hin zur verzweifelten Suche nach einem Gegenmittel, während die Zukunft bereits von jenen Kräften verflucht zu sein scheint, die vorgeben, sie zu gestalten“, sagt die Band.

Channel receptors to block out the pain 

It’s the kind of relationship that keeps dragging its busted carcass back to the same street corner, lighting the same cigarette, coughing up the same complaint, like two people hooked on the rancid comfort of hearing their own old injuries echo off the walls. Nobody swings, nobody surrenders, nobody even has the juice left for a grand collapse. It just hangs there, sour and stale, a low electrical hum of grievance, two souls pacing circles in a room gone airless from reruns of the same sad script. They land somewhere between war and peace in a washed-out purgatory where fatigue puts on the mask of patience and calls itself love.

Peak Flow comes shambling out of Doncaster with the catchy Repetition, a song that understands one of the great rotten jokes of romance: sometimes the fight never really ends; it just changes chairs, freshens its drink, and settles back in for another evening of mutual exasperation. This song is a bruised little machine, all fuzzy guitar abrasion and cold-lit synth lines, with melody held up in the middle like a cigarette still burning between two people too tired to storm out and too stubborn to say they were wrong three Thursdays ago.

Repetition sticks in the ribs by catching that deadlocked emotional weather without turning theatrical about it. This is not a lovers’ brawl with plates flying past the cat. It is the slower, stranger misery of saying the same thing for so long that the words lose shape, until every reply sounds pre-recorded and every pause feels older than the furniture. The song moves with that same drained persistence, as if it knows the argument by heart and could perform it in its sleep, which, come to think of it, is how most bad relationships operate anyway.

There is a nice, sickly pleasure in the collision of textures here. The staticky guitars crawling through a cheap television at 2 a.m., while the synths gleam with that pale, pretty chill that made whole generations of pale people buy hairspray and stare at their shoes in provincial clubs. You can hear the family resemblance to post-punk, goth, and synth wave forebears like The Sisters of Mercy, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and Clan of Xymox, but Peak Flow avoids turning the track into a museum piece for black-coated purists and men who still alphabetize their Cure 12-inches.

Directed and edited by Human Noire, the video plays like memory after a minor electrical accident, with the band superimposed amid a rush of symbols and fractured images, all glitch and lo-fi unease, as though somebody dumped a box of old anxieties onto the editing timeline and had the good sense to leave the mess intact. It fits the song perfectly. Repetition dwells in that blurry territory where love has hardened into habit, where nobody wins, nobody leaves, and even the pain begins to sound familiar enough to sing back.

Scimitar’s latest single, Razors, comes with the kind of bruised glamour that made the dark side of post-punk worth chasing in the first place –  back when a band could look half in love with the dance floor and half ready to crawl out from beneath it. This LA trio has been mutating at a healthy clip since forming in the aftertaste of lockdown, first pulling themselves up from deathrock soil, then stretching toward something sleeker, stranger, and more fatalistic. You can hear traces of that old hunger still clinging to their frame, but here it gets dressed up in sharper lines, cleaner hooks, and a sense of emotional damage worn with perverse elegance.

Razors, the lead single from their debut LP Errare, due April 25th via Cigarettes & Alcohol Records, turns romantic ruin into a lonely procession for all eyes to see. This is the morning after the grand self-betrayal, the stagger home after the final argument has burned itself out, after whatever fragile pact held two people together has finally snapped in the middle. The song deals in severance: shared obligations turned into dead weight, devotion reduced to debris, the sick realization that what once felt permanent has become one more mess to drag behind you in daylight. Heartbreak blends with humiliation in this song, and that’s a far richer fuel. Heartbreak can still flatter the ego. Humiliation leaves you out on the curb with your collar turned up, trying to look composed while your spirit eats dirt.

Scimitar sets that feeling in motion. The track carries itself with a lean, disciplined chill that recalls Interpol’s metropolitan tension, while some of the abrasive physicality of A Place To Bury Strangers hangs around the edges like static on a bad line. There is also a body-moving undertow that brings Pelada to mind, that sense that despair ought to come with a beat severe enough to march to. The arrangement keeps tightening the screws without overplaying its hand. Synths drift in layered sheets, then the rhythm comes down with club-born purpose, turning private ruin into something communal enough to move inside.

Nestor Valenzuela’s video gives the song a handsome split screen of alienation. One thread places the band in the desert, staging a sword dance against a landscape that looks old enough to have seen entire civilizations rise and fail. Those scenes feel ceremonial, almost punitive. Then come the city sequences, all solitary movement and hollow distance, a figure walking through urban space with the posture of someone trying to survive being seen. Between those poles sits the performance setup, beautifully lit and suspended like some glowing borderland between exile and afterlife.

That in-between space is where Razors really lands. It lives in the cracked zone between regret and release, between posing and pain, between wanting one more chance and knowing better. Scimitar play it with style, but also with enough poison in the bloodstream to make the style matter.

Their upcoming album Errare has a central theme of moral judgment. “Errare,” literally “to err” in Latin, is inspired by the phrase “Errare Humanum Este” which translates to “to err is human.” The album asks, “Who among us is without sin? Who will cast the first stone?” Certainly stones are cast. The song’s themes throw blame at would-be lifelong lovers, shame the political elite, and guilt-trip consumerism while also making sure to melt into familiar comfort despite its wrongs. Only perfection can judge us but we’re still obligated to practice discernment.
