27.03.2026 - “I Control My Destiny” — Toronto Post-Punk Act Modele Shares Bold Synth-driven Single “Now It’s Mine”

In my mind
That I could only want to trust your god
Now it’s mine
I control my destiny
Toronto duo Modele (aka Chris Huggett and Nathan Wiltshire) deal in confession, and on Now It’s Mine, they turn the act into something closer to a private coup. This is the second release from the new Modele album, Divine Surrender, due later this year, and the title of that record already hints at the tension running through the song: surrender as ritual, surrender as seduction, surrender as the last posture before someone stands up and takes hold of the room.
There is a thin line between reverence and hunger, between submission and self-invention. Modele takes that tension and lets it breathe, building a song that feels devotional at first, then increasingly charged with possession, until the whole piece seems to stand upright under its own severe and shining will.
Now It’s Mine boasts a chorus pitched low enough to rattle the body and guitars rising in long, bent shapes, as though they are reaching for some stained, distant light. Huggett sings from deep in the chest, his voice full of weight and want, carrying the strain of somebody still chasing meaning after the old answers have gone stale. Modele stay with the feeling, press on it, and let it darken without rushing toward relief.
You can hear familiar bloodlines running through the song: traces of The Mission in its sweep, the hypnotic melancholy of Clan of Xymox and Violator-era Depeche Mode in its cool nocturnal drag. Modele understand how to hold elegance and unease in the same frame, and that balance gives the song its real pull.
Now It’s Mine moves like a spiritual mutiny. It begins in devotion, with the speaker bent toward another’s truth, hungry for meaning, willing to surrender everything for a glimpse of the divine. Then the center of gravity shifts. Purity curdles into possession, sacrifice sharpens into self-command, and awakening arrives with its hands already on the wheel. By the end, the song has broken from borrowed faith entirely: heaven is no longer something distant to pursue, but something wrestled down, claimed, and made flesh. Hot!

27.03.2026 - Ottawa Darkwave Duo Violentene Unveil “Victims Of Light” EP — Includes Two New Songs “Overcome” and “Beginnings”

Violentene’s new EP, Victims Of Light, has the pale glamour of a city seen through a rain-streaked cab window at 2 a.m., all angles, reflections, and private wreckage dressed up for public display. The Ottawa synthpop duo knows how to hold a mood in place: across these five tracks, the duo sounds newly focused. The genre tags still hover nearby: synthpop, darkwave, retrowave, dreampop, synthwave, yet the record feels less concerned with scene allegiance than with emotional temperature.
Roland M. arranges the synth lines and drum programming with a sleek severity, as Mvrijo steps through the center of it all with a voice that carries cool distance and bruised longing in the same breath, giving these songs a soft, dangerous glow.
Savage City sets the tone with a sharp sense of modern alienation, full of pressure, suspicion, and the craving for something real in a world that keeps offering chrome substitutes. The hook has a sly persistence, and the production gives the track a taut frame that keeps its emotion from spilling over into melodrama. Other Side of Eternity goes deeper. The synths rise in long, gleaming waves, and Roland’s Moogs and Korgs lend the track a stately ache, as if some old cathedral had been rebuilt in glass and wired for electricity. Mvrijo’s performance carries the song with grave composure, turning its imagery of pain, peace, and passage into something felt rather than merely stated.
The title track is the EP’s finest argument for Violentene’s growth. Victims Of Light holds density and delicacy in an almost unnerving balance, letting the arrangement stretch and tighten with superb discipline. There’s a calm surface, although beneath that poise, you can feel all kinds of psychic wear and tear grinding away. Lyrically, the song is preoccupied with endurance, with sanity slipping by degrees, with survival becoming habit.
The two unreleased songs, Overcome and Beginnings, complete the EP by deepening the mood and broadening the emotional scope, showing that this release was sequenced with real thought rather than assembled for convenience or chronology.
“Creating these songs feels like a slow drift between beauty, tension, and emotional freefall,” says Mvrijo.
Roland adds, “We’re always stoked to get our music out to the world – in our heads the songs already exist in a space where beauty and collapse touch, but felt so inspiring to create!”
That tension between beauty and collapse is exactly where Victims Of Light lives, and Violentene handle it with rare poise. This EP feels cold to the touch, but there’s a live wire tingling under the skin.
Listen to Victims of Light below and order the EP here.
Victims Of Light by Violentene
Roland Marckwort launched Violentene in 2017 as a way to reconnect with the ambient and dream pop ideas he first explored in the late 1990s with Venus Swirls. That project later evolved into the electro outfit Liquified, which released two acclaimed CDs, earned significant chart success, and secured a deal with World Domination Records.
After a brief stint as a DJ, Roland went on to join the indie/new wave four-piece Politique, who released two albums, played many sold-out shows, and completed a Canadian mini-tour between 2008 and 2012. In 2017, he also collaborated with New York singer Dani Mari (Primitive Heart), producing and releasing the EPs Denial and Phantom Youth, both of which found a strong following within underground shoegaze and dream pop circles.
Mvrijo has been singing since her teens and has fronted several popular Canadian indie rock and pop acts. She and Roland connected in Ottawa in late 2019, united by a shared desire to finally bring the project to the stage and work together locally. They quickly began work on the Otherworld EP, and her arrival in Violentene proved to be the missing piece, helping bring the duo’s vision fully into focus.

27.03.2026 - Madeline Goldstein Radiates Defiant Unity in Video for Luminous Synthpop Single “One Star One Body”

The mind is not a ghost riding inside the body, but a movement of the whole being, like a wave that cannot be separated from the sea. To be fully alive is to stop treating thought and flesh as adversaries and to feel them as one unfolding process. In that recognition, the body ceases to be merely a personal vessel; it becomes part of the great human current, joined to every hand, every breath, every sorrow, every joy. What we call self is not sealed off, but woven continuously into the living fabric of humankind.
Madeline Goldstein’s lovely new track One Star One Body arrives with the cool blaze of a private revelation beamed through a busted public world. As the final single before her new album Speaking To The Body drops on April 10th, it carries a sense of gathering consequence, as though Goldstein has been building a small altar out of dread, desire, discipline, and steel-lit beauty, then finally decided to set the whole thing ablaze. The song reaches toward the spiritual without going soft in the knees about it. It is tense, elegant, and full of pressure.
Those precise melodic turns and clear, glassy textures bring to mind Berlin, Eurythmics, and Til Tuesday, though Goldstein handles those touchstones like tools rather than trophies. The effect is theatrical, sleek, and a little severe, with a living-room intimacy pulled through chrome and voltage. There is anxiety in it, modern and intimate, bound up in the blur between the digital self and the physical one, in the daily business of watching the world deform people while trying to keep your own face from cracking in the mirror.
That emotional and political current runs straight through her lyrics. “This song is a protest song in a sense, trying to protest against the feelings of being paralyzed in the face of the inhumanities we visualize everyday,” says Goldstein. “It’s about fighting to become human again before we’ve lost our world. Our one star is our planet, our sun, our universe. And we have one body, our own with which we choose either to unite with the human body or to isolate.” That statement lifts the track beyond style and places it squarely in the realm of spiritual emergency.
The video, directed by Molly Dario and shot by Antonio Zapiain Luna, places Goldstein in a realm that feels suspended between ritual, simulation, and pop martyrdom. She appears transformed, heightened, almost transmitted from somewhere just beyond ordinary flesh, with a visual presence that calls to mind Enya meets early-90s Madonna by way of some celestial public-access fever dream. Every frame has a clean, stylized force to it. Goldstein moves through these synthetic environments like someone searching for communion in a world built from projection, code, memory, and want.
“I wanted to make a video where the universe it lived in was synthetic and created from nothingness,” says Goldstein. “It seemed the most fitting to represent the worlds we create for ourselves now online, both a source of creative freedom and of imprisonment and torture. Molly Dario is an amazing VFX artist who creates limitless retro-futuristic landscapes. This was our creative homecoming, as we both worked together in the infancy of our projects, and now have grown our distinct creative voices.”
One Star One Body feels like a transmission from somebody trying to pull spirit back through the machine before the machine swallows the signal whole.

27.03.2026 - Austin’s Sinclair Noire Confronts the Surveillance State and Digital Panopticon in Video for ‘Blackshore”

Sinclair Noire comes stomping out of Austin with their latest video for Blackshore like they’ve been locked in a back room with a busted television, a stack of J.G. Ballard paperbacks, and a police scanner that won’t shut up. Somewhere in that splendid civic sickness, they’ve found a beat fit for the age. This is darkwave with a dirty mirror held up to the digital state, gothic rock with nightclub nerve, industrial percussion with enough blunt-force momentum to make your ribs feel like they’ve joined the argument. Ethan Stafford leads the charge with the kind of presence that suggests a man who has seen the wires behind the walls and come back with a grin that is equal parts warning and dare.
The track itself moves with severe purpose. Cold synth lines spread out like fluorescent weather over Stephen Fernandez’s bass, which carries the tune with a lean, limber menace, while Von Dasa’s drums keep landing like steel doors slamming in some municipal basement where all the ugly truths get filed and forgotten. The guitars cut in at just the right moments, bent and needling, like somebody etching bad news into the side of a train. William Faith’s mix gives the whole thing a hard gleam without sanding off the abrasion, and that matters because Blackshore lives on abrasion. It feeds on it.
What Stafford and company are chasing here is bigger than atmosphere and smarter than mere alarm. “Blackshore is our current moment,” says Ethan Stafford. “A parasocial macrocosm under constant watch, where even dissent is observed, indexed, and co-opted. The video captures the tension between chaos, altered states of consciousness, and the fragmentation of reality by technologies like artificial intelligence. From the streets, to the nightclub, to the stage; and the struggle to assert agency in a world that constantly erodes it with surveillance.”
That could read like mere theory if the band didn’t make it feel so bodily, so bruising, so close to the skin. This track understands that modern control is slick, seductive, ridiculous, and rotten clear through.
The video pushes that idea into a full-blown fever pageant. Stafford prowls city streets lit like a bad omen, wanders through protest wreckage, stares down a warped media circus populated by grotesques in Epstein and Charlie Kirk masks, then plunges into a nightclub chase that feels half pursuit, half possession. There’s a room scrawled with graffiti, a glitched rave, gang violence, cameras everywhere, and finally a purple-lit studio where power, lust, image, and authorship all get thrown into the same blender. By the time Von Dasa finds Stafford collapsed and the codename Blackshore flashes across every screen, the point has landed with ugly elegance: the machine can market your rebellion before you’ve even caught your breath.
And then there’s that shouted line, “Our nation’s bloodied; the tempest’s fate!” – a grand, ragged cry that drags Shakespeare through the Epstein Files and somehow makes it sound appropriate for the republic we’ve built, this peep-show panopticon where every scandal gets swallowed, tagged, and sold back to us by morning.

27.03.2026 - SCHEITAN :: Neue Single „A Million Days“

Bandcamp: https://scheitan.bandcamp.com/track/a-million-days-gothic-rock
„A Million Days“ continues the band’s exploration of melodic gloom, featuring lyrics that touch on themes of endurance, internal conflict and the weight of „dead desires“. The song describes a journey through „a thousand fires“ and „a thousand battles“, centred around a heavy refrain of emotional isolation and the „drowning of a lonely soul“.

27.03.2026 - MORTEMIA :: Coverversion von „Take on Me“

Listen: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/mortemia/take-on-me-feat-marcela-bovio
Quote – Morten Veland:
„I’m proud and honoured to welcome back my friend and collaborator Marcela Bovio as my special guest for ‚The Cover Collab Sessions‘. The song of choice this time is the timeless classic ‚Take on me‘ by my fellow Norwegians of the band a-Ha. I still remember very well when this song was released back in 1985 although I was just 7 years of age at the time, it was something very different that I had never heard before. The band also grew to be the biggest success ever to come out of Norway, and the band is just as huge today. I wanted to make a tribute to a-Ha for a long time, but I could not decide on which song, as there are so many great songs to choose from, but I eventually ended up making a rendition of their greatest hit ‚Take on me‘. After discovering how well the iconic synth riff transcended to the 7-string guitar my choice was basically made“.

27.03.2026 - RESURRECTED: neue Single vom „Perpetual“-Album

27.03.2026 - Darmstadt Post-Punk Duo Latex Release Debut Full-Length “Silk” — Listen to the Title Track

I Wear My Lipstick Like Warpaint
Darmstadt’s Latex understands that the best post-punk records carry a little danger in their bloodstream. Their latest offering, Silk, moves with sleek impatience, striding in fast, lithe, and keyed up, as though it has already decided the room belongs to it. The duo, Robin Lexow and Johanna Amberg, have been at it since 2022, and this single finds them sounding tighter, sharper, and far more sure of where to make the first cut and how deep. The track takes cues from the cooler corners of post-punk and Neue Deutsche Welle, then sends them back onto the dancefloor with fresh polish and real purpose.
Part of the pleasure lies in how efficiently the song is built. The lines cut cleanly through the arrangement, bright and brisk, leaving elegant streaks across the beat. The lineage is audible, certainly. There are traces of PJ Harvey, Xmal Deutschland, and Early Cure in its skeletal drive, clipped tension, and emotional economy. Yet Silk never feels pinned beneath its references or trapped in period dress. This track is built for bodies, for momentum, for the strange chemistry that happens when attraction curdles, and the feet keep moving anyway.
Silk carries powerful feminist energy and fun without becoming weightless, remains polished without feeling sterile, and stays emotionally charged without flowing over itself. The guitar adds lift, the rhythm section provides backbone, and Johanna Amberg’s vocals give it edge. Some words are stretched just enough to brush against the skin, while others hit in sharper shapes that tighten the groove. The song revolves around intimacy, rupture, and the dazed churn that follows emotional impact, yet it never slumps or sprawls. It maintains its posture. It sustains its pace.
Latex have made a track that knows exactly how to turn powerful tension into motion. Listen to Silk via streaming, or below, and order the single here.
Silk by Latex
Since forming in 2022, Latex have moved with the kind of purpose that suggests they were never interested in lingering at the level of promise. Robin Lexow and Johanna Amberg quickly built a name through live sets that balance cold poise with physical force, sharing bills with Lydia Lunch, Ghostwoman, Witch Club Satan, and Poison Ruin. Working with guitar, bass, drum machine, and synthesizers, the Darmstadt duo favor pressure, shape, and atmosphere in equal measure, while Amberg’s vocals carry a cool severity that gives even their most dancefloor-minded material a deeper bruise.
Their early run of releases laid the groundwork neatly. The first two tracks arrived on cassette in 2024 via Frankfurt label ICHIICHI, followed by the Defective EP in 2025, a sharp four-song set full of chorus-soaked guitars, taut basslines, and a clear affection for the sleeker edges of the mid-80s. Now, with their debut album Silk out via Wiesbaden-based label Besser Samstag, Latex widen the frame. The record moves easily between post-punk, NDW, death rock, and a lean kind of punk bite, giving the duo room to push further into mood, movement, and menace. It is their most complete statement so far: brisk, stylish, and cut with enough tension to leave a mark.

27.03.2026 - Boy Harsher’s Jae Matthews Shares Cover of Buzz Kull’s “Man On The Beat” — 12 Inch Single With Spike Hellis Remix Out in April

Tonight
Windows down
We try to find a way
Got to hide away
Jae Matthews (Boy Harsher) gets hold of Buzz Kull’s Man on the Beat like somebody slipping out a switchblade hidden in a garterbelt: cool hand, bad intent, perfect timing. A cult track to begin with, the song already carries its own hard stare, but Matthews reimagines it as a dark, hypnotic late-night anthem, and suddenly that stare turns cinematic. Her unmistakable voice hangs over a cold synth pulse with the kind of poise that suggests she has seen the room, sized up every soul in it, and chosen exactly how much danger to bring.
Matthews inhabits the material: there is glamour and a sly kind of severity in her delivery, a little poison slipped into the lipstick. She sings with the cool confidence of somebody who understands that desire and dread often share the same address. The track moves with nightclub discipline, each beat stepping forward like a polished boot on a sticky floor, while the electronics smear and gleam around her in long, lean lines. It feels sleek, severe, and gloriously indecent.
The song lives in its sense of after-hours inevitability, the feeling that the city has finally emptied enough for its worst ideas to begin to look elegant. Matthews turns restraint into tension, letting every phrase land clean and dangerous.
The B-side sweetens the trouble. Spike Hellis takes the tune and stretches it into a longer, harder, synth-charged club cut, something built less for staring across the room than for surrendering to the floor. Between the two versions, Man on the Beat gets to exist as both cool seduction and dance-floor compulsion.
Listen to Jae’s cover of “Man On The Beat” below:
Jae Matthews’ cover of Man On The Beat is out digitally everywhere now, with the vinyl due April 17 for the Buzz Kull Deep Hate / Void Vision show in Los Angeles, where Jae will be DJing at Pacific Electric.

27.03.2026 - The City Gates Trace a Wintry Commute Through Brutalist Montreal in Video for Icy Post-Punk Single “Capitol Hill”

There is a particular kind of warm loneliness that only a city in late winter can produce: not the theatrical kind, nor the sort that begs for witness, but the quieter condition of moving through vast public spaces while feeling privately sealed inside yourself, while the numbness in your fingers warms around a coffee during that icy commute. The City Gates understand that sensation well. On Capitol Hill, the Montreal outfit turns it into something graceful and grand, letting driving post-punk rhythms, gauzy shoegaze textures, and distant vocals gather into a song that feels like a long exhale against a freezing pane of glass.
The single arrives as the latest glimpse into the band’s forthcoming third LP, due May 15 via Icy Cold Records and Velouria Recordz. The record promises a deeper push into cold, expansive terrain, and Capitol Hill makes good on that premise straight away. A propulsive bassline keeps the track moving with real purpose while icy synth drones hang overhead and the vocals drift in from somewhere just out of reach. When the harmonies gather, the effect lands with unusual force: tender, remote, and unmistakably human. The album will also include the tracks Lapidation and La douleur (des mortels), the latter appearing only on the digital version. Produced & Mixed by The City Gates at Velouria Studio, Montreal, the release was mastered by Francesco Giuliano at Innerwood Music Mansion in Succivo, Italy.
The video, produced and edited by TWEAX & The City Gates, gives the song a fitting visual counterpart. Shot on Montreal’s cold streets, in the Metro, and throughout the city’s concrete arteries, it turns the urban landscape into a study in stark geometry, motion, and estrangement.
Rendered in severe black-and-white, the clip moves through snow-choked sidewalks, brutalist overhangs, circular wall forms, station corridors, escalators, revolving doors, and the blur of a Metro train streaking past in bands of light and shadow. Men in dark coats drift through these spaces like half-remembered thoughts. Faces appear in overexposed close-up, then dissolve again into glass reflections, scratched surfaces, and passing bodies. Elsewhere, the band gathers in interior spaces that offer brief shelter without ever fully dispelling the chill outside, culminating in scenes shot at restarant, where the city’s social warmth feels momentary, almost provisional. Even the most ordinary elements, a tunnel of ceiling lights, the ribbed metal teeth of an escalator, a revolving door catching figures in fragments, take on a strange emotional pressure. The result feels less like a literal narrative than a sequence of urban impressions: transit as ritual, architecture as mood, companionship as something glimpsed between departures.
What makes the video work so well is its trust in atmosphere, repetition, and place. Montreal becomes both setting and state of mind: a city of thresholds, underpasses, stairways, passing trains, café windows, and brief encounters, where movement never quite guarantees arrival. That suits Capitol Hill perfectly. The song carries a steady forward motion, yet everything around it seems caught between memory and disappearance.
Watch the video for “Capitol Hill” below:

Diavol Strâin comes roaring back with 11 Ecos like somebody kicked open the doors to a sealed chamber and let all the old curses, all the state lies, all the bloodstained memories come spilling across the floor in a rush of black smoke and broken glass. This is the first shot from Eterno Retorno, and brother, it lands with the kind of force that makes you sit up straight and wonder what exactly got disturbed in the walls.
For a band already carrying close to eleven years of hard-earned history, Lau M and Ignacia Strain, bona fide icons of Chilean and Latin American darkwave, sound possessed by fresh purpose here, as if they found a deeper wound to press until the room changed colour. The track drags the memory of dictatorship and civic terror into the present tense, and it does so with a terrible elegance, with guitars stacked in great collapsing sheets and rhythm moving underneath it all like boots down a corridor.
11 Ecos hit carries historical violence without turning into a lecture or museum placard. The Spanish-language track feels feverish and full of pressure. The lyrics circle rage, pain, ruined hope, exile, numbness, torture, and the sleazy theatre of power, where the guilty hide their hands and the dead keep walking beside the living. There is menace in that vision, and there is also sorrow in the older, heavier sense of the word: communal hurt, the kind that gets passed from body to body, year to year, until it starts to feel like leather.
The video, directed and edited by Lau M, pushes the song further into a world of symbolic horror. A strange bacchanalian feast unfolds in a red velvet room, performance footage cutting through the ritual like a blade. The imagery has that Lynchian perfume, and there is a trace of The Hunger in the whole decadent pageant, with fruit, bodies, ghosts, and power all slipping into one another until you start asking the right question: what exactly are these people becoming? “We took it to more symbolic imagery, we wanted to represent characters who wield political power, with an esoteric and tense aesthetic, a focus on violence and the idea of ghosts that haunt and frighten people because of their actions,” says the duo’s vocalist and bassist.
Watch the video for 11 Ecos below:
…And then there is the muscle behind the Diavol Strâin’s latest record. Pablo Giadach handled the sessions at Estudio Lautaro, and William Faith took care of mixing and mastering, which gives the whole enterprise extra weight, extra reach, extra poison in the perfume bottle. 11 Ecos feels like the opening of a major statement, the sound of a band widening its frame while keeping the knife sharp. If Eterno Retorno follows through on this promise, Diavol Strâin may have delivered an album that turns the song’s pressure into a prophecy.
