Die Groovy Power Metal-Band ICE HOWL hat nach dem Opener “Snowfire” und “Crack the Earth” mit “Kyteler” ein weiteres Lyric-Video ihrer kommenden EP “Reborn and Reforged” veröffentlicht. Die Scheibe folgt auf eine 4er-Split mit MOURN THE LIGHT, HIGH PRIEST und ARCHDRUID aus dem Vorjahr nach. Zuvor haben die US-Amerikaner aus Indiana bereits drei Alben veröffentlicht.

Time, that relentless tide, sweeps all in its path—dimming brilliance, eroding grandeur, leaving behind whispers where once there were symphonies. Its ceaseless march strips us bare, peeling away layers of our certainty until we stand face to face with our own fleeting nature. We grasp at moments, futile as clutching smoke, hoping to halt the decay that turns all to echoes. Each tick is a thief, each second a reminder that permanence is but an illusion. In the face of time’s erosion, we struggle not to despair but to glean meaning, to create, to live vividly before the sands slip away.

Berlin artist Daniel Knutz’s latest offering, Victim of Time, strikes like a clock’s cold chime, its relentless rhythm echoing life’s battle against the unyielding march of moments. The lyrics speak to the slow erosion of all things, the steady fade of what once shone bright, leaving us to wrestle with the fleeting nature of existence. Yet, amidst the fading light, Knutz offers defiance—a rallying cry to rise, to waltz boldly through the fleeting hours, to hold fast to the fire of each moment. The track throbs with life’s urgency, its imagery rich with the paradox of beauty and impermanence. Victim of Time urges its listeners not to cower beneath the weight of inevitability but to carve meaning into the passing seconds, to embrace the fleeting with a fierce joy, and to celebrate the fragile dance that defines us all.

Knutz’s baritone voice crashes in like thunder, deep and resonant, filling every corner with an overwhelming gravity. His voice doesn’t merely accompany the music—it dominates, rolling and reverberating through the track like an unshakable force. The entire piece vibrates with a tension that tightens with every beat, pulling you further into its gravitational pull.  Victim of Time surges with the kind of dark ferocity that recalls Sisters of Mercy, Peter Murphy, Depeche Mode, and Clan of Xymox. Through this dense storm cuts a sharp, melodic synth, crackling dry and electric, flickering like lightning across the sky.

The video, directed by Knutz and captured through the lens of Apostolos Tsakiris, draws deeply from the angular allure of German expressionism. Knutz’s stark presence, both haunting and defiant, is interspersed with the relentless ticking of a clock, a grim reminder of time’s impartial march. Slow-motion sequences stretch moments into eternity, while overlays and fractured light evoke a sense of reality bending under the weight of passing seconds. It’s a bold visual meditation on time’s inescapable grip, the impartial force that unites us all in its steady erosion. In its stark contrasts and cinematic flourishes, it distills the paradox of existence: the beauty in our frailty and the strength in facing the universal passage of time with open eyes and steady resolve.

Before stepping into the solo spotlight, Daniel Knutz was the relentless force behind Brazil’s The Knutz, the post-punk deathrock band he formed with his brother Tiago Abud. With three albums and two live records, The Knutz carved their place in the scene, culminating in a 2017 Latin American tour and the critically lauded 2018 release The Tower. Seeking new horizons, Knutz left Brazil for Berlin, where he co-founded the flamboyant and theatrical Discodrama with Ludmila Houben. Eventually, Knutz struck out alone, fully embracing his artistic independence. From recording and directing to releasing his work, he charts a fiercely personal path.

LETZTE INSTANZ kündigt Auflösung für Ende 2025 an und veröffentlicht Abschieds-EP „XXVII“. Nach 27 Jahren bewegter Bandgeschichte gibt die deutsche Rockband LETZTE INSTANZ offiziell ihre Auflösung zum Ende des Jahres 2025 bekannt. Die Dresdner Band prägte mit ihrem unverwechselbaren Mix aus Rock, Gothic, und klassischer Instrumentierung über ein Vierteljahrhundert hinweg das Genre Brachialromantik. Mit einer letzten emotionalen EP, passend mit „XXVII“ betitelt, verabschieden sich die fünf Musiker von ihren Fans und schlagen damit das finale Kapitel ihrer Karriere auf.

Die Songs der auf 1000 Stück limitierten Abschieds-EP sollen sowohl das Erbe der Band reflektieren als auch ein Dankeschön an ihre treue Fangemeinde sein, die sie über die Jahre hinweg begleitet hat. Die Electro / Dark Wave-Band CORLYX hat mit “Zombie Kid” eine weitere neue Single von ihrem kommenden Album “Purple Pain” veröffentlicht. Das Doppel-Album mit 19 Tracks wird am 14. Februar 2025 via Out Of Line Music erscheinen.

Vor wenigen Wochen ist mit “The Letdown” eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip erschienen.

“Ich wollte die überwältigenden Wellen der Traurigkeit ausdrücken, die von Kindheitstraumata herrühren, etwas, mit dem ich mich immer wieder auseinandersetze, und manchmal ist Musik der einzige Weg für mich”, sagt Sängerin Caitlin Stokes.

Davor hat die Band mit “The Sacrifice” eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

“Ich wollte die Geschichte einer Waldhexe erzählen, die zu Unrecht ermordet wurde und wieder aufersteht, um sich zu rächen. Sie ist auch ein Euphemismus für Mutter Erde und die Zerstörung der Natur, ihr Zorn richtet weiterhin Schaden an der Bosheit der Menschen an…wir sind ihr Opfer”, sagt Caitlin Stokes.

Zuvor hat die Band nach “Kill Cave” mit “Ghost Of The West Coast” eine weitere neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Der Track symbolisiert quasi die Flucht des Duos, welches aus Caitlin Stokes und Brandon Ashley besteht, aus Los Angeles – ein Wendepunkt, der zu neuen Identitäten und der Gründung der Band führte.

Im September 2023 ist die Single “Wasted And Alone” mitsamt Video-Clip erschienen. Die Single folgte auf 2022er-Album “Blood In The Disco”.

“”Wasted & Alone” ist eine Reise zurück in unsere zerstörerische Selbstsabotage-Vergangenheit”, sagt Sängerin Caitlin Stokes. “Sowohl Brandon (Ashley) als auch ich waren als Teenager drogenabhängig; wir hatten eine Menge Traumata zu verarbeiten, bevor wir in der Lage waren, besser auf uns selbst aufzupassen. Dieser Song verherrlicht nicht den Drogenmissbrauch. Es ist die Anerkennung unserer sehr realen und menschlichen Bewältigungsmechanismen.”

Frontmann Mikael Åkerfeldt kommentiert den Track: „‚§4‘ ist ein verrückter Song, der ganz intuitiv entstanden ist, denn ich bin kein schlauer Kerl, was das Musikschreiben anbelangt. Die Leute nennen unsere Musik ‚Metal für Denkende‘, worüber ich immer sehr lachen muss. Ich bin in so vielen verschiedenen Genres beheimatet, dass ich gar nicht in einem einzigen bleiben kann. Diese Idee, irgendwo hingehören zu müssen, langweilt mich. Wir bieten für jede und jeden etwas und ich denke, dass dieser Song unsere Vielschichtigkeit ganz besonders hervorhebt. In diesem Fall ließ ich mich von der sogenannten ‚Zwölftonmusik‘ leiten. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Begriff aus der Klassik, der auf zwölf Noten beruht, wobei keinerlei Dopplung erlaubt ist. Ich habe einige Pianistinnen und Pianisten diese Art von Musik spielen hören und ich muss sagen, dass sie eine unglaublich irre, bösartige, wirklich merkwürdige Wirkung entfaltet, die nun auch dem Basis-Gitarrenschema des Songs zugrunde liegt. Das Stück beginnt mit einem Mellotron-Thema, das beim ersten Hören etwas fehl am Platz und wie eine Art Free-Jazz-Solo klingt. Dieses wandelt sich jedoch rasch zu einem beinahe traditionellen Metal-Thema, das von Death-Metal-Gesang im üblichen Stil beantwortet wird. Jene Stereo-Growls haben wir zur Effektverstärkung gar doppelt aufgenommen.

Sweden’s Bo Magnusson first carved his name into Sweden’s underground with the industrial mayhem of Dr. Evil and The Boys From Below. Rising in the ’80s and early ’90s, their chaotic performances—pig skulls, towering test tubes, and levitating washing machines—blurred the line between music and performance art, stirring awe and unease in equal measure. By 1992, the group dissolved, and Magnusson vanished from the music world, his creative fire seemingly dimmed.

Reigniting in 2015, Magnusson unveiled The Below, a project steeped in his experimental origins yet daringly different. Scavenging forgotten instruments and repurposed relics, he shapes a raw, metallic cacophony where post-punk collides with industrial grind. The Below transforms noise into something visceral, carving bold new paths from the remnants of sound’s past.

Tabla Motors confronts the slow crawl of age and the looming specter of death with a raw honesty that pierces the veil of comfort. Its lyrics sketch a world teetering on the edge, where the sacred crumbles and the revered gods lie abandoned, their temples dissolving into ash. Darkness seeps through every line, erasing memories and igniting panic. In the wake of their ruin, new creeds sprout like weeds, promising fleeting solace to weary souls grasping for meaning in the storm of chaos. The final silence settles like ash, heavy with the echoes of anguish and the relentless churn of a force that refuses to yield. The simple, almost ancient-sounding melody grips with taut beauty, a reflection of life’s fleeting passage and the restless shifting of belief and existence.

Mike Coles crafts a hypnotic visual odyssey for Tabla Motors, splicing found footage with jagged, modern animation to create a fractured, poetic vision of time unraveling. The result is a fever dream—a stark and startling portrayal of humanity on the precipice, where each frame trembles with the weight of a world nearing collapse. Will we ever learn our karmic lessons?

“Killing Joke is one of the most influential bands ever, and I have always loved their graphic profile,” says Magnusson. ‘To be able to work with Mike Coles, who has done a lot of their artwork and videos, is a true honour.”

The Below follows the acclaim of this summer’s Immutable Decay with a new five-track EP, Behaviour in Public Places, a collection that dives even deeper into dissonance and despair. While Immutable Decay struck with its metallic percussion and unrelenting industrial clamor, its collaborations with Aaron Sutcliffe brought an anguished humanity to its stark exploration of environmental collapse and existential unease.

This time, Jesper Hanning steps into the fold, lending a fresh urgency to Behaviour in Public Places. The EP veers into more experimental territory, its sound rawer and more unsettling. With this release, The Below delves into its darkest recesses yet, a blistering confrontation with the uncanny.

Die Psychedelic / Neo-Krautrock-Band ZEMENT hat mit “Station to Station” einen Video-Clip ihres kommenden Albums “Passagen” veröffentlicht. Schon zuvor ist mit “Move/Procession” der Opener des Albums erschienen.

“Da ‚Passagen‘ die Geschichte einer Person erzählt, die sich auf eine Reise begibt, um ein neues Selbst zu entdecken, neue Orte zu erforschen und eine neue Utopie im Leben zu finden, markiert die erste Single ‚Move/Procession‘ – die auch als Opener des Albums dient – den Startpunkt dieser Reise”, erklärt die Band.

Es ist das vierte Album des süddeutschen Duos, welches aus Christian Büdel (Drums, Percussion) und Philipp Hager (Guitars, Synths, Drummachines, Effects, Flutes) besteht.

“Passagen” wurde gemeinsam mit Florian Helleken bei Hersbrooklyn Recordings aufgenommen, von Lolo Blümler in den Iron Bar Studios gemixt und von Chris Hielscher bei Subsounddistortion gemastert. Release-Termin ist der 14. Februar 2025 via Crazysane Records.

Die Progressive Art Rock-Band KLONE hat nach dem Lyric-Video zu “Magnetic” mit “After the Sun” nun einen Video-Clip ihres neuen Albums “The Unseen” veröffentlicht. Es ist das zehnte Album der Franzosen und ist am 8. November 2024 via Pelagic Records erschienen. Im September hat die Band den Titeltrack veröffentlicht.

“”The Unseen” ist ein kontemplatives Stück, das Zeit braucht, um sich vollständig zu öffnen”, erklärt Sänger Yann Ligner. “Musikalisch haben wir versucht, ein empfindliches Gleichgewicht zwischen Melancholie und Optimismus zu finden, und textlich habe ich versucht, die flüchtige Schönheit einer verletzlichen Natur zu reflektieren und damit die Wichtigkeit, den gegenwärtigen Moment zu umarmen, was auch immer er bringen mag.”

Vorab gibt es auch den Opener “Interlaced” zu hören.

Was gibt es zu MÖTLEY CRÜE und ihrem Megaseller zu sagen, was Kollege Oliver vor über 20 Jahren in seinem Review zu „Dr. Feelgood“ nicht schon gesagt hat?! Nun ist das Hitalbum, allein in den USA 6-fach Platin, auch schon 35 Jahre alt. Und beamt uns in verschiedenen Editionen zurück in die späten 80er, in die MTV-Rotation der Hits, aufgebrezelt mit reichlich Haarspray und neuem Remaster aus 2024.

MÖTLEY CRÜE feiern 35 Jahre „Dr. Feelgood“
Nach dem unnötigen Intro zappelt man unweigerlich sofort tänzelnd durch die Bude, hach fühlt man sich da wieder jung. Dass das nicht mehr so ist zeigt „Slice Of Your Pie“, die morschen Knochen knacken bei jedem Move. Das ging in der 80er Rockdisco noch geschmeidiger, noch besser beim energischen „Rattlesnake Shake“. „Kickstart My Heart“ sorgt wie seit jeher dafür, dass ich danach in die THE SWEET-Sammlung greife und die echten Glam-Urväter feiere. Ohne Ballade ging halt nichts, MTV brauchte das. Bleibt bei MÖTLEY CRÜE Geschmackssache, die quäkigen Vocals von Vince Neil haben da für mich nie gepasst. Zudem ist „Without You You“ eine klassische Klischee-Ballade, die so oder ähnlich jeder 80er Rockact hatte. Die schauen dann auch passend vorbei, die Jungs von SKID ROW, BRIAN ADAMS und AEROSMITH´ Steven Tyler liefern ein paar Vocals.

Schmutzig, catchy, Zeitgeist – „Dr. Feelgood“ steht für die späten 80er
„Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.)“ hätte auch auf „Girls, Girls, Girls“ stehen können. Man sieht förmlich Pamela Anderson beim Pole Dance im eigenen Wohnzimmer … äh … auf der Bühne performen. „Sticky Sweet“ tritt Popo, zeigt wie sehr sich die Crüe wie auch bei anderen Songs des Album an AEROSMITH orientiert hat. Die ja tatsächlich zeitgleich ebenfalls im Little Mountain Studio in Vancouver ihr Hitalbum „Pump“ aufnahmen. Es wird schmutzig mit „She Goes Down“, das schunkelige „Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)“ mit leichtem Southern-Touch und der Feuerzeug- (1989) bzw. Handylicht- (2024) Schwenker „Time For Change“ beenden ein Album, das für den Zeitgeist vor 35 Jahren steht, dabei auch heute noch total Spaß macht. Und schlichtweg in jede Hard `n´ Heavy-Sammlung gehört!

Als Bonus gibt es fünf Hits des Albums live, ein etwas lebloser Boardmitschnitt. Nett, aber nicht wirklich wichtig. Dazu kommen fünf Demos, die man so ja auch schon kennt. Immerhin wurden Demos und Livesongs in einem Rutsch mit remastered und klingen nochmal etwas kraftvoller.

„Dr. Feelgood“ gehört in jede Sammlung, Fans interessiert eher nur die Luxus-Edition
Es bleibt das übliche Dilemma mit den Jubiläumsdingern dieser Genre-Meilensteine, die in keiner Sammlung fehlen dürfen: Wer das Album schon hat bekommt in der Standardversion nur einen mehr aufgeblasenen, zeitgemäßen Sound. Das Bonuszeug hat man bereits, wenn man einen der Re-Releases hat. Hat man „Dr. Feelgood“ nicht, dann wird es Zeit, dann ist es jetzt soweit. Echte Fans hingegen müssen wieder schauen, mit welcher der zahlreichen Versionen, als Vinyl oder Superdooper-Edition sie ihre MÖTLEY CRÜE-Sammlung upgraden wollen.

Collaborating with RAUMM, Stioui shapes a visceral, magnetic piece—one that pulses with nostalgia while surging with present-day urgency. Minuit Machine’s early phase, between 2013 and 2015, yielded two albums. After a three-year respite, the duo recommenced their journey, their third album INFRAROUGE. Their groundbreaking EP Don’t Run From The Fire marked a turning point, demonstrating their deft blend of EBM, dark wave, and techno. Released during lockdown alongside a viral livestream, it played a pivotal role in catapulting their career. They later released the LP 24, shedding their darkwave skin to explore a medley of electro-pop and high-energy tech influences, marked by daring compositions, compelling instrumental layers, catchy beats, and unforgettable vocal lines. In December 2022, Hélène, due to health concerns, decided to take a step back.

Vorab sind bereits die Singles “The Quest” und “Nymphet” mitsamt Video-Clip erschienen. “Ennea” ist das dritte Albums der Engländer aus Ipswich. Zuvor hat die 2020 gegründete Band die Alben “Mirrored Revenge” (2020) und “Constantine” (2021) veröffentlicht.

Die Progressive Metal-Band ERELEY hat einen Labeldeal bei Wormholedeath Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen haben die Tschechen ihr neues Album “Garden” veröffentlicht. Mit “Type 0 Steel” ist nun ein weiterer Video-Clip erschienen.

“Garden” sei eine ergreifende Erzählung über Liebe, Verlust und Selbstfindung, die den Hörer auf eine transformative Reise durch das Labyrinth der menschlichen Gefühle einlädt. Verwurzelt in persönlichen Erfahrungen und Introspektion, folgt das Album der Suche des Protagonisten nach einem Abschluss inmitten der eindringlichen Echos einer zerbrochenen Beziehung.

“Garden” ist nach “Katharsis” (2015) und “Diablerie” (2020) das dritte Album der 2014 gegründeten Band und ist am 31. Mai 2024 erschienen. Vorab gab es nach dem Video-Clip zu “Symphony of Hell” mit “Orient Flowers” auch ein Lyric-Video.

“”Orient Flowers“ ist ein Stück, das die Reise eines Mannes verfolgt, der sich von seinem Zuhause verabschiedet.
