Die gleiche alte Leier: Ein Blick auf den Hidden Track der physischen Editionen verrät schon das grundlegende Problem. Mit „Play The Old Shit“ wollen THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA den Klagen der Fans zuvorkommen. Ungleich härter als das eigentliche Album veranlagt, rechnet die Band auf eher kindische Weise mit der ach so verbohrten Anhängerschaft ab. Was die US-Amerikaner dabei allerdings völlig verkennen, ist der eigentliche Stein des Anstoßes. Nicht die Entwicklung hin zu einem softeren Sound, sondern die Art und Weise sorgt für Unmut.

Nach dem reifen und durchweg starken „Color Decay“ (2022) gerät die Balance aus Härte und Melodie nun vollkommen aus den Fugen. Statt sich weiter auf die gesunde Evolution des eigenen Sounds zu verlassen, greifen THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA für „Flowers“ zur Brechstange. Lead-Gitarrist Kyle Sipress wurde vom Songwriting ausgeschlossen, um Platz zu machen für einen ganzen Schwarm externer Schreiber, deren Hauptanliegen unüberhörbar ist.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA tauschen auf „Flowers“ Authentizität gegen Plastikcharme
„Flowers“ ist kein Metalcore-Album mehr, sondern der klägliche Versuch, die Band im Radio-Rock zu etablieren – zu hören u.a. in „Eyes“, das jenseits der LINKIN PARK-Anleihen keine eigene Identität entwickelt. Der Stolperstein dieses Unterfangens ist folglich die Methode: Mit dem Kalkül und den eiskalt berechneten Pop-Strukturen kommt dem Album auch die Seele abhanden. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA tauschen interessante Lyrik gegen Plattitüden, Authentizität gegen Plastikcharme.

Dabei beginnt die Platte mit dem Doppel „That Same Place“ / „Where The Flowers Never Grow” noch vielversprechend, indem sich Piano- und Streicherklänge mit melancholischer Grundhaltung vermischen, während die Synthesizer doch ein wenig Zuversicht streuen können. Generell hat Keyboarder Jonathan Gering ein gutes Gespür für eingängige Melodien, was nicht zuletzt dem aufrüttelnden „Ritual“ zugutekommt.

Shouter Mike Hranica verkommt auf „Flowers“ zum Statisten
Abseits solcher Lichtblicke fehlt es dem Material jedoch an Substanz. Ultra catchy, doch wenig nachhaltig zeigen sich das auf tanzbar getrimmte „The Silence“, „So Low“ oder das öde „For You“, sodass wir gelegentlich schon während der zweiten Rotation mit der Skip-Taste liebäugeln. Dieses Gefühl kann auch Jeremy DePoyster nicht lindern, denn trotz seiner angenehmen Stimmfarbe ist der Gitarrist und Sänger gesanglich zu limitiert, um jenseits der eigenen Komfortzone Akzente zu setzen.

Insofern schmerzt es besonders stark, dass die forcierte Abkehr von der härteren Seite der Band auch Mike Hranica ins Abseits drängt. Zum Background-Shouter degradiert gibt es für den Frontmann eigentlich kaum etwas zu tun, wenn nicht gerade wie in „Where The Flowers Never Grow“ krampfhaft noch ein unnötiger Breakdown in die Songstruktur geschustert wird. Immerhin: Wenn wir uns in Zukunft einmal nutzlos fühlen, denken wir einfach daran, dass THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA nach wie vor einen dezidierten Mann für harsche Vocals in ihren Reihen haben und schon dürfte sich unsere Gemütslage relativieren.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA lassen sich von Songwritern ein Radiokostüm schneidern
Über weite Strecken ist es gar erschreckend, wie seelenlos „Flowers“ vor sich hin mäandert, immer in der Hoffnung, dabei maximale Airplay-Zeit zu erzielen. Würde Taylor Swift ein moderne Rock-Album aufnehmen, „Cure Me“ hätte seinen Platz wohl sicher. Gerade weil „Color Decay“ mit den ruhigen Stücken glänzen konnte, hinterlässt die muntere Songwriter-Parade von „Flowers“ einen so bitteren Beigeschmack.

Zumal mit „All Out“ ausgerechnet das härteste Stück eben nicht auf externen Output angewiesen war und nun doch mehr als Quoten-Song für die Checkliste denn aufrichtige Komposition in Erscheinung tritt. Dass wir hier dennoch den frühen Höhepunkt des Albums vorfinden, ist nur eines der vielen Anzeichen, dass der uns hier überreichte Strauß bereits welk war, bevor ihn THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA gebunden haben.

Linguistic wit + word acrobatics, paired with electronic club sounds - sometimes hard, sometimes soft!

Originally as a solo project by Luke J.B. Rafka brought to life in 2010 for the public, it has now grown into a grandiose 2-man project. While Luke puts world events into words without inhibition V-nerV has been providing the electronic background since 2016. electronic background in the form of his compositions.

The first single "Spiegel der Gesellschaft" will be released on February 24th with the original song, a club edit and remixes by Relate, Superikone, ANTIAGE, Das(X)Periment and U.M. Fiedel and the first partby the song "Ein Gespräch zwischen Sonne & Erde". Parallel to the single, a video will be released which was created by Maik E. Baptist.

Further single releases are planned for the rest of the year.

We are happy to announce the release of WINTER's new studio album "Looking Further Back" in cooperation with Wintergothic Records in April 2023.

This time, "Looking Further Back" presents newly mixed highlights from earlier times as well, but not exclusively. In fact, only six of the eleven titles are previously released material. Five songs are brand new and as of yet unreleased. (There are even six new tracks on the CD, the CD bonus track is already a foretaste of the new album “Heroes”, which will be released in autumn).

WINTER stays true to his course with "Looking Further Back". And that means that he basically doesn't have a rigorous line here either. Again, he moves within his self-defined framework, somewhere between AOR rock, hard rock, pop, wave and gothic. As always with a proper 80s touch and a feeling for catchy choruses that get stuck in the listener's ear.

The album will be released on CD (with a bonus track), as well as digitally and on strictly limited (300 copies) Black Dust splatter vinyl.

April has it all. Once again the Beckum-based HEMESATH are going on TOUR with the NDH actors from MAERZFELD and will be standing their ground in Cologne from April 8th on the mostly German stages. As in spring 2022, HEMESATH will heat up the audience with the songs from the second studio album "So Schön" and thus pass on the audience at the individual stations to the headliners of MAERZFELD at least at operating temperature.

HEMESATH warm up before the start of the TOUR and will be supported by their colleagues PROTZ on two concert evenings in March (10.03. and 11.03.).

In 2017, PORN released their third album “The Ogre Inside - Act I”, the first act of a trilogy based on the enigmatic character Mr Strangler. In 2019, the band released the second act of its trilogy, “The Darkest Of Human Desires – Act II”. Now, on March 27th, 2020, PORN return with the final act: “No Monsters In God's Eyes – Act III”.

After collaborating with Tom Baker (responsible for the mastering of legendary albums like Marilyn Manson's “Antichrist Superstar”, NIN's “Downward Spiral”, Ministry's “Psalm 69” or Rob Zombie's “Hellbilly Deluxe”), PORN entrusted Brian Lucey (Magic Garden Studio in Los Angeles) with the mastering of this album. Lucey previously worked with Ghost, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood ...

PORN have released several singles from the new album in the past couple of months and the new single for the track "Low Winter Hope, Pt.2" will be published on feb, 21st along with a music video.

In this sense, the title “SMILE” of the new THE WIDE album is a time travel into the subconscious, musically floating between dream pop and indie rock, soundwise perfectly balanced, almost like its very own genre in a musical cosmos divided into categories.

Originating from Mönchengladbach / Germany, the band goes beyond musical boundaries with their second album (following the debut album “Paramount”, 2018). The five musicians from Scotland, England, Switzerland and Germany see themselves as crossover artists who come together again and again like attracted by a magnet to create a homogenous, room-filling sound with every tune and every note of their songs.

On February, 26th Soulimage are gonna publish their new single „Imperium“ via Echozone to set the stage and fire up the mood for their upcoming album.

Mastermind Rob E. Soul’s quintet stays true to its previous musical development. In comparsion to the last album „Human Kind – Animal Mind“ the new song has an additional proper pinch of heavy metal influences thrown into the mix, nonetheless Soulimage never neglect the electronic, grooving foundation that has always formed their style.

The result is a kick-ass mixture of steamrolling guitars and melodic synthies with Rob’s voice being the familiar bond that keeps it all together. It will immediatly find its way into the listeners‘ ears and necks. the Spanish electro-project Cyborgdrive contributes, as so often, a successful remix version of the single song. The single’s flip side consists of a re-recording of „Generator“, building a bridge to the band’s eralier musical creations and bringing them up to speed.

The original track from the album „The Whole Universe“ is dominated by synthies, the re-recording is much more rocking while maintaining the groove that makes the song so great. While being a bit slower than „Imperium“, the song is still a beast of its own that has nothing to hide. It perfectly demonstrates the band’s ability to combine elements from different styles and make it their own. „Raining Blood“, the third song, is the finishing touch.

As a ballad comprised of nothing but piano and vocals it is musically as far from the other two songs as can be but thanks to Rob’s prominent voice it still is infused with the distinctive Soulimage vibe and a testament to the band’s range.

We're proud to announce the cooperation with german based band THANATEROS for future single and album releases. The band is already working on new material to be released next year and hopefully will play live shows again in the near future.

In the meantime we will also take care of the current longplayer INSOMNIA in terms of promotion and distribution incl. a special release through ECHOZONE in autumn this year. More news and details about this coming soon.

We're happy to announce the return to ECHOZONE of german based Electro band MINUSHEART for the release of their brand new album this spring. There will be a new single and video coming beginning of april and more to be announced soon.
