Die neunte Single unter dem neuen Label trägt den Namen „Ghost In The Water“ und folgt auf „Can You Feel The Pain„, „Love Is Dying„, „Pieces,“ „I Should Have Known Better„, „Like A River„, „Pretty Skin“ und „The Art Of Being Torn Out„, eine Zusammenarbeit mit HALF ME.

Entnommen sind die Stücke dem Zweitwerk „Lost In Hollywood“, das am 20. März 2026 via Arising Empire erschienen ist.

Auch die Tracks „The Fire“ und „Chasing Dreams“ sind als Video bei YouTube zu sehen.

2025 war die Formation zudem auf Tournee und spielte bis Ende des Jahres einige (Festival)shows.

Ricci betont, dass POWERRAGE eine eigenständige Band sind:

„Diese Band hat wenig mit EXCITER zu tun. Es war Zeit, weiterzumachen. Auch wenn EXCITER von meinem Gitarrenstil definiert sind, wollte ich ganz von vorne anfangen. So ein Neubeginn ohne sich auf vergangene Erfolge zu stützen, ist  eine sehr schwierige Aufgabe, aber ich bin zuversichtlich, dass ich das schaffen kann.

THE TROOPS OF DOOM haben ein paar Kollegen eingeladen und eine Coverversion von KISS‚ „God Of Thunder“ aufgenommen, als Gäste sind Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT), Martin Furia (DESTRUCTION) Andria Busic (DR SIN / ULTRAJE A RIGOR) und PJ (JOTA QUEST) zu hören.

Gitarrist Jairo „Tormentor“ Guedz erklärt:

„Seit unseren ersten Shows im Jahr 2020  THE TROOPS OF DOOM ist ‚God Of Thunder‘ unser Intro. Sobald das Publikum diesen Song hört, ist klar, dass die Band gleich die Bühne betreten wird. Das ist für uns fast schon ein Ritual. Wir sind alle mit Kiss aufgewachsen, dieser Titel hat schon immer eine besondere Bedeutung für uns.“

Bei der Coverversion sind Alex Kafer am Gesang, Marcelo Vasco und Jairo Guedz an den Gitarren sowie Alexandre Oliveira am Schlagzeug zu hören. Gitarrist Marcelo Vasco hat vor kurzem seinen Ausstieg bekannt gegeben, am 1. Mai beim CDM Metal Fest in Campo do Meio/MG gibt er sein Abschiedskonzert.

THE HU haben nach „The Real You“ zwei weitere Singfles veröffentlicht: „Warrior Chant“ und The Man“:

 

Anfang März teilte die Band den Track „The Real You“. Der Song basiert auf einem mongolischen Sprichwort: „Sorge dich nicht darum, was sich auf dem Kopf eines anderen befindet, sondern darum, was sich nicht auf deinem eigenen befindet.“

„Die Single ‚The Real You‘ ist repräsentativ für unser bevorstehendes neues Album“, sagt Temka. „Während unser drittes Album traditionelle Songs mit unserem charakteristischen Rhythmus enthält, gibt es nur wenige fröhliche, schnelle Songs wie diese Single. Wir haben diesen Song aufgenommen und dabei an unsere Vorfahren gedacht, die auf Pferden durch die Landschaft galoppierten.“

Ab September 2026 sind THE HU auf Tour, mit dabei sind SKÁLD sind als Special Guests.

Die Progressive Black / Death Metal-Band ASHEN HORDE hat mit „The Harvest“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das fünfte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Los Angeles und das erste mit dem neuen Sänger Karl Chamberlain (PUTREFIER). Jeder Titel des neuen Albums stehe für sich, doch alle drehen sich um das Thema des Endes – sei es auf persönlicher, gesellschaftlicher, historischer oder kosmischer Ebene.

​“Ich hatte dieses Mal keine bestimmte Geschichte im Sinn, aber in den Texten kreisten die Gedanken immer wieder um Reaktionen auf Dinge, die zu Ende gehen. Vom Zusammenbruch der Gesellschaft über alte Rituale bis hin zu den letzten Tagen von Pompeji – alles fügte sich ganz natürlich zusammen“, erklärt Trevor Portz.

Das Albumcover, auf dem zwei rote Skelette in einer unheimlichen, herbstlichen Szene zu sehen sind, stammt von der Künstlerin Venus Kohana, deren Arbeiten Bandgründer Trevor Portz auf einer Kunstausstellung entdeckt hatte.

​“Ich habe einen Druck gekauft und konnte meinen Blick nicht davon abwenden. Schließlich wurde mir klar, dass dies das Cover sein musste. Es hat sogar die Texte zum Titelsong inspiriert“, sagt Portz.

„The Harvest“ wurde von Ricardo Borges gemixt und von Tony Lindgren gemastert. Release-Termin ist der 1. Mai 2026. Vorab gibt es zu „Entropy and Ecstasy“ einen Video-Clip. Der Song fange die Kernidee des Albums ein: Freude am Zusammenbruch zu finden. Der Song handelt von einem Paar, das im Chaos einer Welt, die auseinanderfällt, aufblüht – ein Konzept, das, wie Portz zugibt, wahrscheinlich durch die ersten COVID-Lockdowns inspiriert wurde.

„When I Wake Up“ handelt laut Sängerin Taylor Momsen davon, wie ein Leben voller Exzesse und emotionaler Achterbahnfahrten schnell vom Traum zum Albtraum werden kann. Momsen war es wichtig, dass das Video die realen Gefühle widerspiegelt, die den Song inspiriert haben. Deshalb wurde es ohne Color Grading und Filter gefilmt.

Die Doom / Sludge Metal-Band KULK hat einen Labeldeal bei Church Road Records unterschrieben. Erstes Zeichen dieser Zusammenarbeit ist der Release der Single „Ache„.

„“Ache“ ist nicht nur für unsere Freundin Meg, die wir 2023 verloren haben, sondern für uns alle, die wir zurückgelassen wurden. Dieser Song war der erste, den wir nach ihrem Tod geschrieben haben, und er eröffnet nun schon seit einiger Zeit unsere Konzerte. „Ache“ beschreibt das Leben mit Trauer nach all den Jahren. Es ist nicht der immense Schmerz der ersten Tage, aber er ist allgegenwärtig und beständig. Wie ein gebrochener Knochen, der nicht richtig verheilt ist, hat er die Art und Weise verändert, wie wir uns bewegen, handeln und denken; er ist immer da und lässt nie nach.
„Es war auch eine Ehre, dass Hannah Asprey von der Band IAN einen überwältigend schönen Cello-Part beigesteuert hat“, sagt die Band.

Der Song wird auch Teil eines neuen Album des englischen Duos sein, das davor mit „Here Lies Kulk“ (2020) und „We Spare Nothing“ (2021) zwei Alben veröffentlicht hat.

Die Psychedelic Stoner Rock-Band STONED JESUS hat mit dem Video-Clip zu „See You On The Road“ ein weiteres Video ihres neuen Albums „Songs to Sun“ veröffentlicht.

Im Vorjahr hat die Band mit „Low“ einen weiteren Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

„In ‚Low‘ geht es darum, dass man versucht, alle zufrieden zu stellen, aber scheitert. Die Frustration entlädt sich schließlich mitten im Song in unserem bisher direktesten Metal-Song“, sagt Frontmann Igor Sydorenko.

Im Juli hat die Band mit dem Video-Clip zu „Shadowland“ eine erste Single veröffentlicht.

„In diesem Song geht es darum, inmitten der Instabilität der letzten Jahre einen festen Boden unter den Füßen zu finden“, sagt Frontmann Igor Sydorenko.

Das Album ist der erste Teil einer Trilogie, die die verschiedenen Phasen von der Band abdecken wird. Weitere Alben sind das düstere „Songs to Moon“ und das proggigere „Songs to Earth“.

„Songs to Sun“ wurde von Karl Daniel Lidén im Studio Tri-Lamb gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Vadym „Karaska“ Karasiov ausgestattet. Release-Termin ist der 19. September 2025 via Season of Mist.

Die Technical Death Metal-Band COGNIZANCE hat mit dem Video zu „A Game Of Proliferation“ eine zweite Single ihres kommenden Albums „In Light, No Shape“ veröffentlicht. Es ist das vierte Album der Engländer aus Leeds und das erste, auf welchem Gitarrist Alex Baillie hauptverantwortlich für die Vocals ist, nachdem Bandgründer Henry „Big Mac“ Pryce die band verlassen hat.

„In Light, No Shape“ wurde von Ronnie Björnström gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Jef Whitehead ausgestattet. Release-Termin ist der 1. Mai 2026 via Willowtip Records. Vorab gibt es auch zu „Witness Marks“ einen Video-Clip.

Ein Sequel verspricht für gewöhnlich mehr vom Bekannten, oft natürlich ein wenig größer inszeniert. Diese Erwartungshaltung wäre im Falle von „Knochengesänge II“ jedoch fehlgeleitet: Nicht als Fortsetzung, sondern als Alternativangebot ist das Album gedacht, das den Bruder „Knochengesänge“ (2025) aus einem anderen Blickwinkel unter die Lupe nimmt.

Dementsprechend handelt es sich bei den sieben Stücken nicht um gänzlich neue Kompositionen: Die Kompositionen des klassisch gehaltenen Hauptwerks erfahren hier mitunter großen Wandel: neu arrangiert, teils intim und zerbrechlich, manchmal bis an den Rand der Unkenntlichkeit überarbeitet. Besonders deutlich tritt das in „Crusade In The Dark“ zu Tage, das „Von Hypnos und Thanatos“ lose in ein getragenes Atmospheric-Rock-Stück übersetzt, das mehr Alternative als Black Metal in sich trägt.

WALDGEFLÜSTER erfinden ihre Songs neu, sind dabei aber nicht immer gleich mutig
Leider gehen WALDGEFLÜSTER nicht immer derart mutig vor: Das traditionelle „The Parting Glass“ trägt Frontmann Winterherz a cappella vor, während der Einstieg „Das Klagelied der Krähen“ – ähnlich wie das Titelstück „Singing Of Bones“ – lediglich ins Akustische übertragen wurde. Die nackten Versionen der beiden Tracks funktionieren dank Akustikgitarre und bedachter Streicherbegleitung durchaus, erreichen jedoch nicht die Intensität der Originale, zumal sich Ersteres dennoch über die volle Distanz von achteinhalb Minuten erstreckt.

Spannender ist dagegen „Frankfurt, 19. März“, das dank seines nun doomigen Einschlags schwermütiger und damit für uns auch ergreifender wirkt. Die Ambient-Soundscapes von „In Lethes Fluten“ wiederum sind ein interessantes Experiment, das für uns isoliert allerdings besser funktioniert als in der ohnehin recht ruhig angelegten zweiten Albumhälfte.

„Knochengesänge II“ kann und will sich nicht vollständig vom Geschwisterwerk lösen
Nichtsdestotrotz sind es diese kreativen Kniffe, die „Knochengesänge II“ seine Daseinsberechtigung geben, wobei der „Remix“-Charakter des Materials sich letzten Endes mehr nach begleitender Bonus-Disc denn eigenständigem Release neben den „Knochengesängen“ (2025) anfühlt. Dafür ist das Gesamtpaket dann doch zu experimentell, ohne sich aber völlig vom Geschwisterwerk lösen zu können.

Athens has always seemed like the sort of city where the old gods might still be loitering behind the clubs, smoking clove cigarettes and waiting for somebody to plug in a guitar loud enough to wake the Kraken.  On Burning Obsidian Star, Greek goth rockers Reflection Black come on like alchemists turning ritual into rhythm, hauling myth, mortality, and a little metal-bred menace.

Too many bands dabble in the occult like they bought the Cliff’s Notes for The Lesser Key of Solomon. Reflection Black sounds like they have actually spent some time in a dungeon with these ideas, letting them stain the walls and seep into the songs. The whole album carries itself with conviction, but not the kind that turns pompous and topples over under its own robes.

Reflection Black have influences all over the place: The Sisters of Mercy, The Damned (particularly in their Phantasmagoria era), The Mission, a little of that newer cemetery-club cool, and yes, some steel in the spine from older metal, but they never sound like record collectors playing dress-up. They sound hungry, focused, and a little dangerous in the way all good gothic rock should.

Dreams Fade to Nothing opens the album with the kind of hook that knows exactly how to plant itself in your head and redecorate. From there, the band move with a cool, deliberate gait, letting the guitars carve sharp lines while the synths mass in the distance like storm fronts over stone ruins. The rhythm section keeps everything taut and driving, never overplaying, never wandering off in search of some grand statement. That discipline gives the songs their force. Nobody is showing off for the mirror; they are too busy building the mood and keeping it alive.

The Architect in Slumber reaches into Lovecraftian dread without turning into costume drama, which is harder than most groups seem to realize. It has scale, it has pressure, and it has a voice at the center that lands with enough gravity to keep the whole thing from floating off into gothic pageantry. The title track is where the album really bares its teeth.

Burning Obsidian Star swings harder, drags in blackened edges, and gives the band room to show how comfortably they can move between post-punk tension and heavier instincts without sounding confused about who they are. It is a hymn for people who’d kiss the apocalypse on the mouth and call it communion. These lyrics turn annihilation into ascension, with fire as sacrament and the black star as cruel saviour. Flesh chars, blood boils, mouths fill with ash, and somehow the whole damned thing still glows with ecstatic purpose.

Alex offers insight into the theme of Wonders of Night: “Nyx…according to Orphic Theogony, is a primordial force from which the universe has spawned. She is considered the mother of several divine beings, but also breeds a number of primordial negative forces like Thanatos, Nemesis and Eris.” In that lineage, the song finds its gravity. It carries the sense of standing before something older than doctrine, older than daylight.

Burning Obsidian Star is a strong, fully formed album by a band that seem to know exactly where they’re headed, even if the destination happens to be a boat ride with  Charon to the underworld.

Anja Huwe walked onto the stage at Le Poisson Rouge on Bleecker Street in Manhattan looking like she had just stepped out of some glamourous midnight ambush: fluffy black jacket, leather pants, killer heeled boots, and those famous ice-blue eyes staring out over the room with the kind of cool, electric poise that can still make a crowd forget its own name. This was the triumphant kickoff of her first North American tour in forty years…which is the sort of sentence that sounds unreal even when you’re standing there watching it happen, drink in hand, shoulder to shoulder with a room full of devotees.

After a thrilling intro, the band tore into Boomerang, and just like that, all historical reverence got kicked to the curb in favour of the far better business of being gloriously, physically present. Huwe sounded as robust as ever, particularly considering she was fighting off a bad cold, and there was something almost absurdly thrilling about hearing her voice. Huwe proved her legacy was never preserved in amber or propped up by nostalgia; nor gingerly handling old glories like museum pieces, but alive, kicking, and swinging a belt around the stage.

Flanked by Mona Mur (and Tom Ashton of The March Violets), the set moved beautifully between material from Codes and the Xmal Deutschland canon, making a convincing case that this wasn’t some heritage lap or victory crawl through old headlines. Songs like Living in the Forest, Pariah, Exit, and Rabenschwarz carried the newer material with a fierce, tensile grace, while Xmal staples like Geheimnis, Allein, Young Man, Augen-blick, Eisengrau, Autumn, Polarlicht, Incubus Succubus, and Qual arrived like dispatches from a parallel era where post-punk could still sound dangerous, theatrical, and weirdly elegant all at once. Eden, the Mod Con cover, slipped in like a sly little detour, and Sleep With One Eye Open had the room leaning forward as if the floor itself had become conductive.

Huwe, who stepped away from music after Xmal Deutschland’s distinguished run to focus on visual art and painting, has spoken about being haunted for years by the legend of the band and by endless requests to return, all of which she refused until recently. Maybe that’s part of what made this show feel so exciting and fresh: there was none of that grim ceremonial duty that so often dogs long-awaited returns. She was genuinely delighted to be there, dancing, trading energy with her bandmates, cracking little jokes with the audience before snapping back into business with the easy authority of one who knows exactly how much mischief and majesty a room can take.

At one point, she brought out a Polaroid camera and started taking photos of the audience, handing the pictures out to ecstatic fans like party favours from a beautifully strange aunt who had just descended from another dimension. Sacred Bones cohorts were spotted in the crowd, appropriately reverent but also visibly thrilled, because Codes, her first solo album for the label, has helped complete this restoration in a wonderfully organic way.  That record, shaped in collaboration with Mona Mur and sharpened by the return of Manuela Rickers’ guitar presence, carries the same hard emotional line that always made Huwe so powerful. Live, you could hear that continuum clearly: the old material still bristling, the newer songs seamlessly blending in perfectly.

By the end of the night, Huwe admitted she was having some vocal trouble, and you could hear the strain around the edges. But then came the encore, Orient, followed by a second run through Mondlicht, and if there was any fragility in the moment, it only made everything hit harder. The audience happily, loudly and gratefully erupted in pogo dancing and a delightful singalong.

Anja was then generous enough to spend the end of the evening signing treasures and taking selfies with her fans. It was truly heartwarming to behold.

I used to be a little boy
There’s a peculiar weight to songs from 1993—the kind that settles in the bones differently now than it did then. Back when The Smashing Pumpkins first released Disarm, its listeners were children, teenagers, half-formed people trying to make sense of feelings they didn’t yet have the language to name. Three decades on, those same listeners have grown, carrying the sediment of those years with them. Memory has done its usual work: sanding edges, tinting everything in a wistful sepia, even the parts that hurt. Especially the parts that hurt.

Disarm was never a comfortable song. It arrived like a confession disguised as a lullaby, its sweetness masking something far sharper beneath. Billy Corgan later framed the song as a response to the damage inflicted by his parents, not with raw fury but with beauty—choosing tenderness as a weapon and letting the song carry the hurt he could not express more directly. The mordant irony, he noted, was that it went on to become his mother’s favorite track on Siamese Dream.

That tension between tenderness and accusation is what has kept Disarm lodged so deeply in people’s lives. Decades later, it still feels like a song that knows how memory softens nothing, only stains it with a warmer light. Corvin understands that instinct. Rather than flatten the song into a straightforward remake, they preserve its ache and deepen its atmosphere, drawing out the warmth in the melody and wrapping it in resonant guitar tones, deep bass, and a stately sense of drama.

Their take does not try to overpower the song so much as inhabit it from another angle. The arrangement gives the sorrow more body, the longing more room, and the nostalgia a darker glow. It feels less like an act of reinvention than one of recognition, as though Corvin have found the gothic heart that was always beating inside the song and brought it further into the open.

On the approach they took with the cover, Corvin explains:

“We chose Disarm as our second single because of its unique melancholy. The original song is stark and fragile—it almost feels unfinished, the perfect canvas for a gothic rock reinterpretation. With distorted guitars and drums, we tried to push its emotional core into darker territory and make it our own. The violins you hear were performed by Norwegian musician Sareeta… we couldn’t be happier with how the final result turned out.”

Directed by Underroom Studio, Corvin’s video for Disarm unfolds like a private rite conducted in the half-light of recollection.

An older man sits alone in a candlelit room, surrounded by objects that feel less like décor than evidence of life once lived. A thick, timeworn book rests in his hands—its pages heavy, reluctant, as though each one carries a history that resists being revisited. He turns them slowly, deliberately, the gesture somewhere between study and self-punishment.

There’s a domestic stillness to the space—fireplace, wooden floors, soft amber light—but it never settles into comfort. The camera lingers on small, telling details: the tremor of a hand against paper, the glint of glass as liquor is poured, the quiet ritual of drinking alone. It’s a language of gestures, each one suggesting a life lived in uneasy dialogue with its own past.

Intercut with this solitary figure are the band themselves, emerging from darkness under stark, suspended lights. Their presence feels almost accusatory, as if they are manifestations of memory rather than performers—voices given form, standing just outside the man’s reach.

The video’s most striking turn comes as the act of remembrance becomes destruction. Pages are torn free, fed to flame. Fire consumes what was once carefully preserved, the past reduced to ash in an attempt—futile or necessary—to finally let it go. The imagery doesn’t offer resolution, only transformation: memory burning, but never entirely disappearing.

It’s a simple premise, but executed with a painter’s attention to tone and texture, where everything glows with the same warmth the song evokes.

Rising from the overlapping worlds of Me and That Man, Shores of Null, and beyond, Corvin are a newly formed entity rooted firmly in gothic rock’s lineage, yet unafraid to thicken its shadows. Their sound thrives on contrast—force and fragility, weight and restraint—turning emotional tension into something tactile.

This cover of Disarm doesn’t attempt to replace the original. Instead, it stands beside it like a later chapter, written by those who have lived long enough to understand what the song was really about in the first place.

Because if Disarm once belonged to youth—to confusion, to unformed pain—then Corvin’s version belongs to what comes after: the long reckoning, the slow burn, the quiet realization that the years don’t just pass.

They stay with you.

Born oceans apart and now based in Prague, Kaan and Mindolé have made the sort of record that feels designed for twilight hours and private reveries. Odd Little Thrills work with atmosphere, certainly, but there is also real finesse in Happy Together, a song that enters quietly and settles in with confidence, carried by a steady beat, soft-focus guitars, and an intimate mood.

The duo describes their transcontinental chemistry as sounding “like faded VHS tapes of half-remembered dreams,” and it is one of those rare self-descriptions that actually rings true. The drum pattern keeps everything gently in motion while the guitars wind around it with a subtle eastern inflection, and the vocals arrive in a hushed, reverberating tone that never overwhelms the arrangement. Happy Together unfurls the quiet power of warmth and restraint.

You can hear traces of Boy Harsher in the ominous pop pull of it all, and a touch of Morcheeba in the unhurried, down-tempo sensuality. There are also moments that call to mind Beth Orton, Moby, Cocteau Twins, and Sarah McLachlan, especially in the softness of the vocal presence and the way the song carries emotion without overselling it.

The red-tinged video deepens that feeling, wrapping the track in a muted glamour that fits it beautifully. Split screens pass like fractured memory, dark visions unfold in the club, and a rush of symbols keeps surfacing and slipping away: flashes of nature, hands clutching a rope, a scene by the lake, a guitar held by a tree, tunnels giving way to huge open landscapes. Watching it feels a bit like being dragged along on tour with the band through a beautifully unsteady fever dream, half-documentary, half-delirium, with every image arriving charged and slightly out of reach.

The EP, There Was, There Wasn’t, carries that same duality throughout. The press notes describe “simultaneous, layered timelines travelling together yet apart, like parallel trains,” and in this case, the image fits. The music holds contrasting sensations in delicate balance: closeness and distance, comfort and unease, tenderness and tension. The cool throb of the drum machine, the textured percussion, and the dreamlike drift of the guitars give the songs a feeling of movement through memory, as though past and present are brushing against one another in real time.

This is a track equally at home in a Berlin basement party, in a coffee shop sipping a lavender latte, or stretched out on the couch with a beer and a cigarette. Odd Little Thrills are elegant, alluring, and quietly affecting, a debut that moves with grace and leaves a gentle impression.
