Die Funeral Doom Metal-Band OROMET hat mit „The Sinking Isle“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach „Oromet“ (2023) das zweite Album des US-amerikanischen Duos aus Sacramento und wird am 7. November 2025 via Hypaethral Records erscheinen.

„Thematisch konzentriert sich das Album auf die Unausweichlichkeit des Zusammenbruchs und die Zyklen von Untergang und Wiedergeburt. Diese Muster existieren sowohl auf makro-/globaler als auch auf mikro-/persönlicher Ebene, wobei jeder Song sie auf unterschiedliche Weise untersucht“, erklärt die Band.

„The Sinking Isle“ wurde von Drummer und Bassist Patrick Hills bei der Earthtone Recording Company produziert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Ted Nasmith ausgestattet. Vorab gibt es den Track „Forsaken Tarn“ zu hören.

„Der Song handelt von Selbstreflexion und davon, aus den Fehlern unserer Vorfahren zu lernen. Ein Großteil der Weisheit, die wir von unseren Ältesten erhalten, stammt aus der Erkenntnis der Wege, die zu ihrem Untergang geführt haben. Wenn wir auf die Vergangenheit zurückblicken, müssen wir darauf achten, dass die Reflexion nicht in Grübeln übergeht, damit wir unseren eigenen Weg nicht aus den Augen verlieren“, sagt die Band.

Alien Skin, the enduring project of George Pappas (formerly of Real Life, the Australian synth outfit behind 1984’s global hit Send Me An Angel) operates like an encrypted dispatch from another time. Since 2008, Pappas has pursued a disciplined excavation of early ’80s minimalism, tracing the cold geometries of darkwave, post-punk, and synth abstraction. His work feels less nostalgic than diagnostic, a meditation on the cultural residues left behind by modernity’s digital and emotional collapse.

She’s Here, the lead single from the new EP Cold Hand on a Glass Wall, unfolds like a mechanical lament. A steady, stomping drum pattern and pulsing bassline move with the precision of an old machine kept alive out of habit. The voice: dry, close, almost analytical, delivers a phrase that loops like a mantra: “she’s here, she’s here, but not for me.” The repetition becomes a psychological architecture. Inside it, the song builds an atmosphere of absence that feels both personal and political: the condition of human contact filtered through glass, distance, and disaffection.

The lyrics draw their strength from contrast: black tears on white fabric, dead love on a rose bed, silence carried as a vow. They are images that document alienation with the calm of a field report. There’s no melodrama, only quiet observation. The emotional voltage resides in what’s withheld, not declared. Each verse operates like a camera held steady on the aftermath of connection, where technology, loss, and longing blur into one.

Musically, She’s Here stands within a tradition that once articulated post-industrial alienation through drum machines and analog synths, yet it doesn’t imitate that past. It reanimates within a sound and structure that reveals how modern communication often fails to transmit feeling. This is less about nostalgia than archaeology: Pappas digs through the labyrinth of memory to uncover the quiet voids beneath our mediated lives.

“She’s Here is about absence, not presence,” he says. “It’s minimal, cold, and unresolved – exactly the qualities I think make coldwave resonate.” Pappas’ restraint functions as critique; his precision dismantles sentimentality while preserving emotion.

Le Mal’s “Red Maple Door” opens like a fever dream caught in celluloid; the kind of gothic fantasia where the air hums with perfume, smoke, and something far less earthly. Filmed at the storied Woodbury-Story estate (better known as the American Horror Story mansion), this first visual chapter from the Phoenix duo is an opulent séance of light, texture, and dread.

Set on Christmas Eve beneath the glint of a diamond chandelier and a crimson tree, the song paints a tableau of decadence and decay. It evokes an opulent hall of mirrors where pearls glint like armor, marble floors gleam with cold reflection, and a figure stands before a red door — hesitant, haunted, and half-remembered. The imagery bleeds between beauty and violence, the holiday warmth curdled into ritual and ruin.

The track’s pulse feels like a heartbeat trapped in glass — tense, insistent, and strangely devotional. Guitars slice through a fog of synthesizers, while the vocals coil like candle smoke around chandeliers that seem to sway with unseen motion. Beneath the glittering decor and fevered elegance lies a refrain of suffocation and surrender — as if the air itself has grown too heavy to breathe.

Somewhere between cathedral and cabaret, the video for “Red Maple Door” finds its rhythm. The camera glides through corridors thick with red fog, tracing the breath of a memory that refuses to stay buried. A veiled figure drifts across black marble floors, her reflection flickering beneath garlands and candlelight. Pearls gleam, glass darkens, and the walls seem to whisper. The band stands within this crimson mausoleum, playing to no audience but their own reflection.

Their movements are ritualistic, deliberate — as though invoking the ghosts of every decade that ever danced in eyeliner and ennui. The rhythm drives forward, relentless yet graceful; its energy encased in beauty’s brittle shell. The performance isn’t staged so much as possessed: the musicians seem less like players than apparitions keeping tempo with time’s own decay. By the final frame, the viewer has wandered through a house that feels alive — or unwilling to stay dead.

Red Fox Productions and Le Mal capture a deep sense of texture: lace, smoke, candlelight. Every shot feels soaked in nostalgia yet cut with menace, the kind of duality that defined the best of ’80s horror and post-punk’s morbid glamour. The aesthetic is sharpened, deliberate, and aware — the lighting bleeds from carmine to violet to pitch, each hue swallowing the last.

Anglo-Swiss post-punk duo Lebanon Hanover — Larissa Iceglass and William Maybelline — launch their expansive North American tour today, October 20, 2025, at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. Presented by Persona Grata, the tour marks the band’s most ambitious North American itinerary to date, including long-awaited Canadian stops in Toronto and Montreal, and a Halloween-weekend appearance at Chicago’s Sanctum Festival. The tour is promtoion of their latest album, Asylum Lullabies, out now via Fabrika Records.

Mit Regen starten wir in das zweite Album namens „The Codex Universam“ der deutschen Black Metal Band DRAUGRHANAZ, welches an Halloween erscheint. Das mir vorliegende Vinyl ist das dritte Album, was von Blutmondsphären herausgebracht wird. Als CD erscheint „The Codex Universam“ als Kollaboration über Rigor Mortis Productions und Vama Marga Productions. Damit ist es auch die erste Scheibe von Blutmondsphären, die nicht vorher auf Schattenkult Produktionen erschienen ist.

Das schöne 180g Heavy Vinyl ersucht euch mit alternativem Cover (von poisonous.nk), welches mir persönlich besser gefällt als das der CD-Version. Zusätzlich bekommt ihr hier ein 12″ Insert mit Infos und Musikerfotos auf der einen und den Lyrics auf der anderen Seite. Obendrauf gibt es noch ein A2 Poster mit dem Vinylcover auf der einen und dem Vinylcover plus Musikerfotos auf der anderen Seite. Schönes Ding.

Musikalisch wird eine bedrückende Stimmung aufgebaut, die sich meist im mittleren bis Uptempo bewegt, welches selten (z.B. bei „Antimatter“) von Blasts unterstützt wird. Eigentlich gehöre ich ja zur Highspeedfraktion, aber hier wäre ein Hochgeschwindigkeitsmassaker völlig kontraproduktiv. Das würde viel zu viel von der bedrohlichen Stimmung nehme, die das Album in Verbindung mit der Produktion perfekt rüberbringt. Auch der in moderatem Tempo vorgebrachte, meist gerufene Gesang unterstützt das angemessen.

Das Vinyl klingt sehr gut, auch wenn ich für mich persönlich an der Anlage über den Equalizer noch ein paar Höhen und wenige Mitten herausgekitzelt habe, damit es mir noch besser schmeckt.

Hier und dort, vor allem im Song „Ahriman“ kann ich ein paar Referenzen von Shining vernehmen, welche ich an den Gitarrenemelodien und dem Zusammenspiel von Gitarre und Bass festmachen würde. Aber alles ohne das man auch nur ansatzweise in den DSBM-Bereich rutschen würde.

Ich bin total überrascht, dass ein BM-Album, welches mit einer Handvoll Blastbeats auskommt, mich so packen kann, denn davon gibt es nur wenige. Die von DRAUGRHANAZ erzeugte Stimmung hüllt mich aber vollkommen ein. Die Band muss ich definitiv im Auge behalten. (hendrik)

Wir selbst hadern immer noch ein wenig mit der Entscheidung, doch BLOODRED HOURGLASS meinen es ernst: Wie schon auf dem Vorgänger „How’s The Heart?“ (2023) vertrauen die Finnen die Melodieführung überwiegend den Keyboards an. Soll heißen: Trotz dreier Gitarristen stehen die Synthesizer an vorderster Front, wenn es ums Songwriting geht. So setzt „The Crown Is Permanent“ auf ein rhythmisches Fundament ohne große Schnörkel, während die elektronischen Einspieler die Marschrichtung vorgeben.

Das ist selten so packend wie beispielsweise noch auf „Your Highness“ (2021), aber durchaus eingängig und zumeist gefällig. Ein wenig göteborgsches Riffing blitzt wenigstens im Titeltrack hervor, bevor das Stück mit einem Breakdown einen walzenden Einschnitt wagt – nicht unbedingt Metalcore, doch durchaus mit Berührungspunkten zur modernen Ausprägung des Genres.

Die Zeit mit „We Should Be Buried Like This“ vergeht wie im Flug, aber ohne bleibenden Eindruck
Die meiste Zeit aber balancieren BLOODRED HOURGLASS zwischen traditionellem Melodeath-Vokabular und elektronischen Begleitspuren, die zwar dominant auftreten, aber in weniger experimentellen Eskapaden enden, wie es IN FLAMES in den frühen 2000er Jahren wagten. „Chasing Shadows“ müht sich um Elan und Tanzbarkeit, findet sogar etwas Raum für dosierten Klargesang. „Dance Of The Dandelions“ wiederum atmet phasenweise den Geist von „Soundtrack To Your Escape” (2004), zeigt sich dabei allerdings etwas spritziger.

Singalongs und Clean-Vocals à la “Mirage” bleiben auf „We Should Be Buried Like This” nichtsdestotrotz die Ausnahme. Fast ausnahmslos agieren BLOODRED HOURGLASS mit Zug nach vorne, wobei allein „God Has Favourites“ das Tempo gegen einen frustig-klagenden Ton eintauscht. Dass die Kompositionen aber ausgerechnet beim Riffing auf Sparflamme fahren, hält das Album letzten Endes zurück. Stets solide, bisweilen sogar gut vergeht die Zeit mit dem Sextett wie im Flug, wenngleich zumeist ohne bleibenden Eindruck. Hier hätten wir uns mehr Akzente erhofft, mehr individuellen Charakter, den im Melodic Death Metal für gewöhnlich eben doch die Gitarren ausformulieren und den die überfrachteten Keyboardspuren bei aller Umtriebigkeit nicht zu fassen kriegen.

Die Speed / Heavy Metal-Band REDSHARK hat mit dem Lyric-Video zu „Hypnotized“ eine zweite Single ihres kommenden Albums „Sudden Impact“ veröffentlicht. Der Song beschäftigt sich mit Täuschung und wie diese die Realität verzerren kann, wodurch die Grenze zwischen Wahrheit und Illusion verschwimmt. Es ist die Geschichte eines Zaubers, inspiriert von Medusa und den Sirenen aus der griechischen Mythologie.

Es ist nach „Digital Race“ (2022) das zweite Album der Spanier aus Barcelona rund um Bandgründer und Gitarrist Philip Graves (INVERTED CROSS, EMISSARY).

„Sudden Impact“ wurde von Jaume Perna in den Capricorn Studios aufgenommen und von Javi Félez in den Moontower Studios gemixt und gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Stanislav Atanasov. Erscheinen wird das Album am 31. Oktober 2025 via Listenable Records.

Die Progressive Heavy Metal-Band HARKON hat mit dem Lyric-Video zu „The Errorist“ eine zweite Single ihres kommenden Albums „Love And Vore“ veröffentlicht.

„‚The Errorist‘ befasst sich damit, Fehler nicht als Versagen zu sehen, sondern als Chance. Jeder Mensch macht Fehler – man kann aber durch sie lernen, zu sich und in einer immer gespalteneren Welt vielleicht auch wieder zueinander zu finden, und dabei den wahren Terror vom vermeintlichen Error unterscheiden“, erklärt die Band.

Es ist nach der 2019er-EP „Ruins of Gold“ das erste Album der Deutschen aus Nordrhein-Westfalen und wird am 31. Oktober 2025 via Doc Gator Records erscheinen.
