Berlin, a restless crucible of decadence and reinvention, has found in Blake Harley one of its more intriguing modern troubadours. With her sophomore EP, BLAKE HARLEY, released this Halloween through Duchess Box Records, she offers three songs that glint like fragments of broken glass under strobe light: playful, melancholy, and meticulously constructed.

Harley’s sound exists in a tension between hedonism and heartache. It owes something to the synthetic minimalism of Neue Deutsche Welle and the romantic introspection of early British darkwave, but its attitude is entirely hers: rebellious, flirtatious, a little punk, and bruised by sincerity. If her 2024 debut happy tears was a confession whispered beneath club strobes, this follow-up feels like an assertion of identity.

The opener, Under Your Spell, begins with the bright pulse of a bassline that might have once soundtracked an adolescent summer. Yet Harley’s delivery is tinged with disbelief, as if she cannot quite accept the happiness she describes. Xylophone chimes punctuate the track like nervous laughter at a wake, their percussive cheer offsetting the undercurrent of doubt. The song’s video, filmed and edited by Browzan under Harley’s direction, mirrors this tonal duality: vivid and intimate, yet threaded with unease. The charming video shows her walking through various landscapes, as if confronting the very thing she wants.

Wasteland, the EP’s centrepiece, extends her gaze from the personal to the civic. It is an ode to Berlin, that ever-crumbling metropolis where despair and desire coexist in a perpetual embrace. Harley sings not as a detached observer, but as a participant in the city’s strange communion of ruin and rebirth. Majestic tom fills rumble like distant thunder, while reverb-soaked synths expand the track into something cinematic and strangely uplifting. Directed by Diego Caetano Guerra of Patroden Studio, its accompanying video captures Berlin’s raw geometry: the graffitied underpasses, the nocturnal fluorescence, the people dancing as if to keep oblivion at bay.

From the scorched expanse of Tucson, Arizona, arises No Future, a name that implies impending annihilation yet conceals an oddly luminous optimism. Their new single, Egress, offers a paradox worth contemplating: a song of departure that sounds like rebirth, of melancholy bathed in a crystalline light.

The track fuses post-punk’s austere architecture with pop’s kaleidoscopic sheen. Bright, glassy guitars flicker like mirages above a foundation of stately bass and sleek, synthetic pulse. The rhythm moves with the steady discipline of ritual, but the melody brims with emotion. Each verse sways in languid contemplation before yielding to a chorus that feels like collective release: gang vocals, sharp percussion, and synths bursting like sunlight through blinds. What begins as resignation becomes revolt: a protest against inertia disguised as a pop refrain.

At its core, Egress is a study in controlled freedom. The title itself, cold, procedural, faintly bureaucratic, suggests an official withdrawal rather than an escape. Its protagonist, haunted by memory and loss, navigates the paperwork of detachment, signing off on sorrow before stepping into the unknown. Egress becomes a ritual of emotional deregulation; an act of autonomy performed in the face of repetition and regret.

Stylistically, No Future straddles a narrow fault line between precision and passion. Their sound glimmers with the tight angularity of early Spandau Ballet, the polish of The Killers, and the emotional gravity of Choir Boy, while the synths recall the fluorescent melancholy of Electronic Circus.

The accompanying video mirrors this tension between nostalgia and modernity. Rendered in lo-fi stop motion, it plays like an unearthed artifact: a forgotten VHS from the mid 1980s, recorded in the bland intimacy of a mall photo studio. The band performs with a whimsical sincerity that disarms cynicism. Its imperfections: jerky movement, soft lighting, a sense of amateur theatre, imbue the song’s emotional weight with unexpected tenderness.

Ultimately, Egress is an anthem of self-definition. It proposes that one can exit despair without bitterness, shedding the past as methodically as an old skin. In a time when detachment is currency, No Future reminds us that departure, too, can be an art form: an elegant, melodic refusal to remain where one no longer belongs.

Under the hot hum of Austin’s creative current, The Schisms (Carson Barker, Caleb Ditzenberger and Gregg Irick) unveil Don’t Clip My Wings, a delirious leap into the pulp-colored chaos of mid-century imagination. The three-piece band, long attuned to post-punk propulsion and subterranean moods, has turned its gaze upward to the bold, brash panels of a 1950s comic strip come to life.

That grain, however, is electric. The song moves with muscular ease: a taut, post-punk rhythm snaps beneath Barker’s suave croon, before a fuzz-laden chorus tears the frame wide open. There is a flash of Franz Ferdinand’s angular gait, the broad swagger of The Killers’ early pulse, but what follows is their own blur of dancefloor momentum that collapses into distortion.

The video, a collaboration with Three-Eyed Cat, is a feat of animated alchemy: rotoscoping, hand-drawn reverie, and artificial intelligence stitched together with the nerve of experimentation. Its surfaces gleam with nostalgia: chrome skies, atomic silhouettes, a wash of sci-fi phosphor—and then warp into something stranger. Faces distort, limbs fracture, reality folds like celluloid caught in heat. It is both homage and autopsy of Americana, splicing Leave It to Beaver with Videodrome.

“Most of our videos and music have dark and moody concepts,” says Barker, the band’s leader and founder. “We wanted to switch it up on this video and do something against the grain.”

“I’ve collaborated with Carson and The Schisms many times before and it’s always a ton of fun,” said Nate Bayless, founder of Three-Eyed Cat. “Carson’s concept for this video was 100% up my alley, so I couldn’t wait to get started hashing it out and jump into animation.”

Each frame feels alive, ink breathing against phosphorescent light. The video’s climax abandons vintage charm for fevered mutation, where the clean lines of mid-century idealism melt into grotesque futurism. Barker’s bandmates, caught inside the comic’s frames, become both players and prisoners of their illustrated world.

“I think the basic storyline started with me, then Nate really fleshed it out,” Barker said. “He’s much more knowledgeable about comic book art styles and older sci-fi movies than I am so I pretty much gave him free reign.”

That freedom pulses through every second of Don’t Clip My Wings. It is a creation born of play and precision, a collaboration that reanimates nostalgia until it convulses with new life.

Known for their raucous live performances and self-produced videos, The Schisms have shared the stage with legendary acts like Richie Ramone of the Ramones, Barb Wire Dolls, The Goddamn Gallows, Peelander Z, Cheetah Chrome of The Dead Boys, Flametrick Subs, and more.  The Schisms have been touring East and West Coast since 2017 after the launch of their first full-length album on Stray Wavs Records.

Funded in part by the City of Austin Live Music Fund, Barker’s vision thrives in the strange frontier between music and media experiment.

“That music fund opened up worlds of opportunities for me,” Barker said. “Austin is still a great place for musicians to live.”

Wir freuen uns nach dem großen Erfolg der „Power From Hell“-Tour Anfang dieses Jahres riesig auf die neuen Konzertdates. Euch erwartet das Beste unserer Alben „Power from Hell“ und „The Force“,  immerhin feiern sie 40-jähriges Jubiläum. Wir haben eine Moster-Setlist dabei, für alle, die bei der vergangenen Tour nicht nicht dabei sein konnten… Let there be Thrash – Wir sehen uns im Pit…!!

Mit dabei ist übrigens auch Sänger Sy Keeler, der nach sechsjähriger Pause zurück bei der Band ist.

There’s a particular madness that grips the Catskills come autumn, when the woods crackle with burnt leaves and stray spirits, and the moon leans in close, hungry for a story. Dmitry Wild answers that lunacy with Alive, a delirious rock-and-roll séance that swaps out the sermon for a snarling grin and a raunchy guitar lick. It’s part B-movie fever dream, part jukebox exorcism, a slice of pure pulp that howls with joy at its own absurdity.

Filmed in Woodstock and Hudson, New York, by Strangehouse Media and Jenniffer Claroscura, the video opens like a drive-in reel from another dimension. A pack of leather-clad riders (Gary Hews, Alan Coxon, and Wild himself) roar through those ancient hills as if pursued by the ghost of Link Wray. The rhythm bites; the bass growls like something half-feral. Then comes the twist: our rebel frontman catches the devil’s groove and grows a snout under the strobe. Rockabilly gives way to lycanthropy.

The transformation scene plays like a Pee-wee’s Playhouse nightmare directed by Russ Meyer. There’s glorious camp, but also a strange sweetness; the sense of a man devoured by his own muse. Wild waltzes with the chaos. His eyes gleam with the same delirious devotion that drove Screamin’ Jay Hawkins to crawl out of coffins and set microphones on fire. The guitars shriek, the drums stomp like iron hooves, and the editing, cut to ribbons by Strangehouse Media, keeps the whole spectacle twitching with electric mischief.

The video moves like an invocation of forgotten jukebox spirits, the ones who never made it past the B-side. It’s a love letter to 1950s drive-ins, to grindhouse monsters, to the small-town bands who believed a three-chord song could raise the dead. Wild channels that lineage without nostalgia – more invocation than imitation, the same party soundtrack provided by bands like Screamin’ Rebel Angels and The Gun Club.

By the time the credits roll, you half expect smoke to curl from your screen. The werewolf dances off into the woods,  leaving behind nothing but laughter and feedback. Alive is what happens when the moonlight hits the jukebox just right, and the music decides to bite back.

„An Evening Of Atonement“. Es hat was von klassischem Understatement, was LEPROUS hier betreiben. Hinter dem bescheidenen Titel steckt nämlich weit mehr als ein paar Live-Aufnahmen des aktuellen Studioalbums aus dem Jahr 2024. Obwohl das neueste Werk gemeinsam mit seinen beiden Vorgängern „Aphelion“ (2021) und „Pitfalls“ (2019) im Vordergrund steht, nehmen uns die Norweger mit auf eine Reise durch ihre komplette Karriere.

Zwei Sets mit einer Gesamtlänge von rund 126 Minuten hat die Progressive Rock-Band Anfang 2025 im niederländischen Tilburg mitgeschnitten. Das Resultat ist ein abendfüllendes Live-Dokument, das durchaus als Referenz für ähnliche Unterfangen dienen könnte. Denn was „An Evening Of Atonement“ auszeichnet, ist der authentische Klang: Das Publikum hält sich während der Stücke zumeist zwar vornehm zurück, dafür brilliert die Darbietung selbst in jeglicher Hinsicht.

LEPROUS verzichten auf übertriebene Postproduktion, sondern lassen ihr Talent sprechen: Das Schlagzeugspiel Baard Kolstads ist natürlich gewohnt herausragend, genauso wie Sänger Einar Solbergs Performance, die durch den Mix etwas stärker in den Vordergrund gerückt wird. Zwar hätten wir uns die Gitarren gerne ein wenig prominenter gewünscht, ein großes Manko ist dies dank der tollen Gesangsleistung in Stücken wie „On Hold“, „Below“ oder „Alleviate“ jedoch nicht. „Slave“ und „Forced Entry“ wiederum schaffen gar Platz für etwas harsche Klänge, was der Dynamik des Sets nur guttut.

Andere Stücke wiederum entfalten live deutlich mehr Atmosphäre als in ihrer Studioversion Dazu zählen das nach wie vor etwas repetitive „Faceless“ mit Publikumschor sowie „Like A Sunken Ship“, dessen Synth-Arbeit nun auch emotional greifbarer wird. Zwischen bewährten Hits à la „The Price“ oder „From The Flame“ und Deep-Cuts à la „Passing” vom Debüt “Tall Poppy Syndrome“ (2009) schaffen es LEPROUS, alle Facetten ihres unverkennbaren Progressive Rocks herauszustellen. Trotz der überlangen Laufzeit ist „An Evening Of Atonement“ somit eine kurzweilige Angelegenheit, deren Vielfalt der nüchtern gehaltene Titel eigentlich nicht gerecht werden kann. Buße müssen hier letzten Endes nur diejenigen tun, die sich diesen Live-Mitschnitt dennoch nicht ins Regal stellen wollen.

Am 26. Oktober 2024 spielten MOONSPELL ihr erstes symphonisches Orchesterkonzert mit dem Titel „Opus Diabolicum“ in der MEO Arena in Lissabon mit dem 45-köpfigen Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra. Die Band schrieb bei diesem unvergesslichen Live-Event Geschichte und fügte sowohl der portugiesischen Metal-Musik als auch ihrem eigenen Vermächtnis ein weiteres großartiges Kapitel hinzu, während sie ihre Klassiker und das bombastische Album „1755“ bei einer einmaligen, exklusiven Show und ihrer bislang größten Produktion neu interpretierte.

Jetzt, ein Jahr später, erschein am 31. Oktobe über Napalm Records das Konzert auf VD/Blu-ray, 2 CDs, schwarzem und farbigen Vinyl sowie in digitalen Formaten. Um die Wartezeit zu verkürzen, präsentieren die Dark-Metal-Pioniere heute ein Live-Video zu „Extinct“, dem hymnischen Titelsong ihres legendären Studioalbums aus dem Jahr 2015.

Die Deathcore-Band OV SULFUR stellt einen weiteren Track ihres kommenden Albums „Endless“ vor und haben nun auch ein Video zu „Wither“ geteilt. „Endless“ erscheint am 16. Januar 2026 via Century Media.

Als zweiten Vorab-Song präsentierte die Band „Evermore“ bei YouTube.

Auch in den Track „Seed“ kann man bei YouTube reinhören.

Laut Gitarrist/Sänger Chase Wilson beginnt mit „Seed“ eine neue Ära für die Band:

„Dies ist der erste Song, den wir für das neue Album geschrieben haben. Wir konnten unser Songwriting noch einmal verbessern, ein ähnlich großer Schritt wie von der EP zu ‚The Burden Ov Faith‘. Die Reaktion auf diesen Song live auf unserer Tour mit NEKROGOBLIKON bestätigt das. „Seed‘ hat einen unserer besten Refrains bisher, und wir verwenden ihn um Melodeath-Riffs und brutale Deathcore-Breakdowns herum. Wir haben ihn sogar über den Breakdown am Ende des Songs gelegt, wo er perfekt hinpasst.“

EQUILIBRIUM haben eine neue Single mit dem Titel „Borrowed Waters“ veröffentlicht, an dem Song ist Sängerin Roniit als Gastmusikerin beteiligt. 

Entnommen ist der Song dem neuen Album „Equinox“, das am 28. November 2025 via Nuclear Blast auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital erscheinen wird.

Im September teilte die Band „I’ll Be Thunder“ als zweite Single.

Am 31. Oktober 2025 erscheint ein Live-Album von MOONSPELL: „Opus Diabolicum“ wurde 2024 in Lissabon mitgeschnitten, an dem Konzert wirkte das Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa mit.

MOONSPELL-Sänger Fernando Ribeiro betont, dass „Opus Diabolicum“ keines der gewöhnlichen „Metal trifft Klassik“-Projekte ist:

„Ich war nie derjenige, der MOONSPELL in eine orchestrale Richtung gedrängt hat. Ich meine, wie jeder Fan weiß ich um den Einfluss der Klassik auf den Heavy Metal (Quorthon von BATHORY nannte Wagner als seine Lieblingsband), und in meiner Musiksammlung finden sich Mussorgsky, Prokofiev und Ravel neben den bereits erwähnten BATHORY, CELTIC FROST, SARCÓFAGO oder MAIDEN. Aber ich selbst war kein Fan von Metal-meets-Orchestra-Projekten, und als ich Jaime (Gomez Arellano) bat, dieses Monster zu mischen, fragte ich ihn: Hast du S&M und andere „Live mit Orchester”-Alben von Metal-Bands gehört? So etwas wollen wir nicht! Dies ist ein Werk der Leidenschaft: wahrhaftig das Werk des Teufels (opus diabolicum): unvollkommen, unbearbeitet, ungezähmt. Eine Veröffentlichung von Freunden für alle Freunde, die wir in dieser von Gothics verlassenen Welt haben und die in einer Arena in Lissabon oder in einem verschwitzten Club in Texas den Bann aufrechterhalten, bis wir nicht mehr sind.

Nun kann man sich auch das Live-Video zu „Extinct“ ansehen: 

MOONSPELL-Sänger Fernando Riberio erklärt, warum das Arrangement für diesen Song nocht einfach war: 

„Das ‚Extinct‘ Album war ein Meilenstein für uns.  Es hat uns geholfen, uns von dem schweren Erbe unserer frühen Alben zu befreien, was damals dringend notwendig war. Fans auf der ganzen Welt feierten dieses Album  Wir mussten einen Teil davon aufgegreifen und auch ihm eine „orchestrale Behandlung“ verpassen. Den Oroginalsong haben wir mit dem Streichensemble The Mumim Sezler aus der Türkei aufgenommen. Es war jetzt eine eine weitere Herausforderung für die Musiker, dieses orientalische Flair wieder aufleben zu lassen. Am Ende passt aber alles zusammen, es klingt kraftvoll und hat Stil. Mit Opus Diabolicum wollten wir die Kraft des Heavy Metal und die Größe des Orchesters zusammenbringen, ohne das Ganze zu versüßen oder für empfindliche Ohren zu verwässern. Das ist MOONSPELL in voller Kraft, unterstützt von einem Orchester. 

Den Mitschnitt von „In Tremor Dei“ kündigte Fernando Riberio im September so an: 

„Unser Album „1755“ war unverzichtbares für diess Konzert mit Orchester, das Album mit portugisischen Texten handelt vom großen Erdbeben, dass Lissabon im 18. Jahrhundert erschüttert hat. Dieser Song fängt das Westentliche der gesamten Show und Inszenierung ein: Lissabon bebte erneut, aber das Orchester spielte weiter.“

Frontman Fernando Ribeiro sagt dazu:

„‚VAMPIRIA‘ ist ein Moonspell-Klassiker, so alt wie die Zeit selbst. Es war unsere erste Wahl als Single, weil es eines der bemerkenswertesten Arrangements der gesamten Show ist, das einem zeitlosen, ewigen Song neues Blut und neues Leben (sind das nicht dasselbe?) verliehen hat. Seht mit eigenen Augen, wie es nach einer ‚Reise durch die Ozeane der Zeit‘ von den Toten aufersteht.“

Torny Gottberg/Progress Productions: Als ich das erste Mal mit dem Material dieser Band konfrontiert wurde, war ich verblüfft. Es ist lange her, dass ich direkt das Gefühl hatte "DAS ist etwas, was ich einfach machen MUSS", ich hatte sogar das gleiche Gefühl wie damals, als ich zum ersten Mal ein anderes schwedisches Duo hörte, das "Ways to dance" spielte und das wir später über 10 Jahre zu einer der größeren Bands in der heutigen Szene aufbauten.
