LEAVES‘ EYES haben für den 6. März 2026 über Reigning Phoenix Music die Veröffentlichung ihrer brandneuen EP „Song Of Darkness“ angekündigt. Nun präsentieren LEAVES‘ EYES den Titeltrack und Opener gemeinsam mit einem Video, das einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf ihren kommenden Kreativzyklus bietet.

Eingespielt im Mastersound Studio unter der Regie von Band Mastermind Alexander Krull, verfeinert die EP den charakteristischen Mix aus orchestralem Tiefgang und metallischer Wucht. Inhaltlich bewegt sich Song Of Darkness entlang der Grenzen zwischen Mythos, Magie und Geschichte. Der Titeltrack selbst ist inspiriert von der isländischen Gisli-Saga und führt in eine Welt aus Mord, Intrigen, schuldbeladenen Träumen und der Hoffnung auf Erlösung.

Die beiden LEAVES‘ EYES Sänger verraten uns über die neue Single:
„Unser Song of Darkness entführt euch in eine Welt dunkler Träume und innerer Konflikte, in der mystische Geister aus uralten Zeiten euer Schicksal lenken“, erklärt Alexander Krull, und fügt hinzu: „Eine tragische Liebesgeschichte, aber ohne Happy End.“

Die Deathcore-Band OV SULFUR stellt einen weiteren Track ihres aktuellen Albums „Endless“ vor und haben nun auch ein Vocal-Performance-Video zu „Forlorn“ geteilt. „Endless“ erschien am 16. Januar 2026 via Century Media.

Zuvor gab es den Clip „Vast Eternal„. Im November teilten OV SULFUR den Track „Wither“:

Laut Gitarrist/Sänger Chase Wilson beginnt mit „Seed“ eine neue Ära für die Band:

„Dies ist der erste Song, den wir für das neue Album geschrieben haben. Wir konnten unser Songwriting noch einmal verbessern, ein ähnlich großer Schritt wie von der EP zu ‚The Burden Ov Faith‘. Die Reaktion auf diesen Song live auf unserer Tour mit NEKROGOBLIKON bestätigt das. „Seed‘ hat einen unserer besten Refrains bisher, und wir verwenden ihn um Melodeath-Riffs und brutale Deathcore-Breakdowns herum. Wir haben ihn sogar über den Breakdown am Ende des Songs gelegt, wo er perfekt hinpasst.“

DREAM THEATER haben eine weitere Veröffentlichung in ihrer „Lost Not Forgotten Archives“-Reihe angekündigt: „Live in Tokyo, 2010“ ist ein Mitschnitt der Shows vom Summer Sonic Festival in der japanischen Landeshauptstadt. Es handelt sich dabei um den letzten Live-Auftritt mit Schlagzeuger Mike Portnoy vor dessen Rückkehr zur Band im Jahr 2010.

Symbolismus mit dem Vorschlaghammer: Begleiteten bereits im Booklet von „Cursed“ (2025) überlegt gewählte Blumensorten die einzelnen Stücke, dürfen wir nun dem Gesteck beim Verrotten zusehen. Welk geworden ist der Strauß und versinnbildlicht das allmähliche Scheitern einer Beziehung. In Szene gesetzt ist das musikalisch weiterhin zwischen Metalcore und Nu Metal, während textlich oftmals arg dick aufgetragen wird – „I’m 14 and this is deep“ in Versform.

Immerhin können PALEFACE SWISS auf ihren hochmotivierten Frontmann zählen: Shouter Zelli gibt sich oftmals energisch, manchmal auch gebrochen emotional, was „The Wilted EP“ letztlich genug Glaubwürdigkeit verleiht. Große Experimente bleiben indes aus: Das Songwriting setzt in „Withering Flower“ auf Wutausbrüche à la SLIPKNOT mit einer Prise KORN im Refrain und dreht in „Let Me Sleep“ die Daumenschrauben noch eine Umdrehung weiter an.

PALEFACE SWISS agieren etwas formelhaft, aber dafür auf solidem Niveau
Beide Stücke besitzen dadurch ausreichend Durchschlagskraft, ohne jedoch die Geistesblitze der Vorbilder imitieren zu können: Riffing und Schlagzeugspiel erfüllen ihren Zweck, stechen allerdings kaum hervor. Aus dem Rahmen fällt hingegen „Instrument Of War“ allein wegen seines Gastbeitrags. Sänger Jesse Barnett (STICK TO YOUR GUNS) nutzt die melodischen Gitarren, um dem Song eine eingängige Hook zu verpassen – die Rechnung geht auf, kostet aber Individualität, da PALEFACE SWISS hier auf etablierte Genre-Konventionen setzen.

Ähnliches könnte man für den gefühlvollen Abschluss behaupten, der ganz traditionell sanftere Töne anschlägt und voller Pathos in Selbstmitleid zerfließt. Lyrisch eher seicht überzeugt hier jedoch abermals die Singstimme Zellis, der selbst Plattitüden auf seltsame Weise ergreifend klingen lässt. Mögen dieser EP sowohl Subtilität als auch Finesse fehlen, überzeugen PALEFACE SWISS dafür auf anderer Ebene: Der Vorschlaghammer nämlich trifft auch hier noch mit spürbarer Wucht in die Magengrube.

DECEITS have always existed in the space between devotion and defiance. Formed in Los Angeles in late 2021, the project began as a shared language between longtime friends Kevin Moreno and Francisco Saenz and has since expanded into a trio—an evolution that sharpened both their physical force and emotional reach. Their songs don’t posture or reenact a scene; they move with intent, driven by rhythm, memory, and the lived weight behind every line.

Rooted in post-punk’s discipline but guided by melody and intimacy, DECEITS balance romance and abrasion without nostalgia or irony. Basslines press forward, drums lock into motion, and Moreno’s vocals carry restraint and release in equal measure. Filtered through a distinctly contemporary Chicano perspective, their music is built for crowded rooms and close quarters—where connection happens face to face and momentum is earned rather than assumed.

That approach has steadily elevated DECEITS within Los Angeles’ underground and beyond. The band have headlined packed hometown shows, performed at landmark venues including the El Rey Theatre, and appeared at Cruel World Festival, placing them firmly within the modern lineage of post-punk acts reshaping the genre on their own terms.

February 2026 marks a new chapter: DECEITS’ first European tour. Rather than a broad sweep, the band opted for a tightly routed run through Central and Eastern Europe—clubs over comfort, momentum over spectacle. The route opens in the Czech Republic, cuts through Germany, pauses for a key festival appearance in the Netherlands, then continues west and south through France and Switzerland before turning southeast into the Balkans. It closes where it began, after a dense stretch of back-to-back nights that favors sweat, proximity, and word-of-mouth energy over polish.

After a run of singles that spread quietly and then all at once, DECEITS released their debut full-length, If There’s No Heaven…, independently in November 2023. Tracks like “Drowning In An Empty Sea” and “Mi Amor, Mi Vampira” carried the record outward, opening doors to national touring and higher-profile stages without sanding down the band’s urgency. It’s post-punk driven by motion and memory—music that knows where it comes from while staying locked on where it’s going.

EXODUS kündigen 12. Studioalbum an:

„Ob wir uns auf diesen Release freuen? Das ist eine Untertreibung. Mit „3111“ präsentiert die Thrash Metal-Band nun den ersten Song aus „Goliath“ als Stream, das Video zum Track wurde laut EXODUS von YouTube abgelehnt, da es zu brutal sein.
Das komplette Album „Goliath“ wird am 20. März 2026 veröffentlicht. Direkt nach der Veröffentlichung gehen EXODUS mit KREATOR, CARCASS und NAILS auf Tour.

There’s a particular charge to the air that only exists in halls built for belief — where every sound arrives already doubled, already haunted by its own echo. Churches were built to hone sound and light, which is why they make such perfect venues: vaulted ceilings that lift a voice into something near-choral, hard surfaces that let drums bloom and travel, candlelight and stained glass that turn darkness into design. And a concert isn’t far from a service: people gather for communion of a different kind, moving as one, answering the same refrain, turning private ache into something shared. That’s the atmosphere TVAM steps into with “Powder Blue”, the second single from Ruins, the forthcoming third album by the Joe (Joseph) Oxley-helmed solo-project from the Greater Manchester area.

Here, Oxley’s signature machinery remains — brooding, bolted-down textures and rhythms that feel engineered rather than played — but the song lands with immediate grip: vocals, guitar, keys, and atmospheric drums arriving like a ritualistic mass. Produced and recorded by TVAM, and mixed and mastered by James Trevascus (Nick Cave, The KVB, Clint Mansell), “Powder Blue” folds alt-rock, coldwave, and post-punk into cathedral-scale sighs and Jesus and Mary Chain-esque swagger, pinned in place by an 80s-sized guitar riff. Midway through, the bass blooms into a brooding voltage-swell, stacking tension until the song feels tight, pressurized, and alive.

Lyrically, “Powder Blue” treats obsession like a timeline you can’t stop scrubbing forward — fast-forwarding through the fallout before it even arrives. “The song is all about obsession and attraction – seeing how the act of that obsession would play out before it actually happens,” Oxley says. “It jumps ahead to feelings of being trapped in a relationship, then the fear of not being trapped… It accepts that sometimes things are inevitable.”

Fittingly, the video keeps things elemental: a performance captured inside a church under a teal-blue wash, fog rolling through the nave and candles marking the altar like a low-lit boundary line. The camera moves between scale and closeness — Oxley silhouetted at the mic in haze, blown-out flares that turn the vocal into pure nerve, sharp-angled instrument shots, and tight hands-on-keys detail — the stage as confessional, the room as amplifier.

The follow-up to High Art Lite (2022), TVAM’s forthcoming LP Ruins is shaped by grief, reflection, and transformation — a record that frames loss not as emptiness, but as presence: something that rearranges the world around you. Oxley describes it in dualities — what’s said and unsaid, humanism and nihilism, public and private, despair and acceptance. “Hope and despair don’t cancel each other out,” he says. “They can co-exist — that’s what makes it feel real.”

Somewhere within a lifetime of repeats, reruns, and reboots, TVAM lives — building a world where broadcast becomes performance. The work draws from a wide spectrum: Boards of Canada’s nostalgia pull, Suicide’s deconstructed rock’n’roll, and My Bloody Valentine’s infinite noise converging in Oxley’s singular signal. Since Psychic Data first burst from a small bedroom studio in Wigan, TVAM has earned daytime playlisting on BBC 6 Music and has been featured on TV, including Succession.

Musically, Ruins is expansive and immersive — reverb-drenched synths, fractured textures, hammer-blow snares, and guitars with a newfound restraint, leaving space for atmosphere and emotion to take centre stage. “Broken reality” textures collide with driving rhythms, nodding toward the cinematic sweep of Floodland-era The Sisters of Mercy and the bruised romance of Disintegration-era The Cure — beauty in dissonance, light in the wreckage.

TVAM will take Ruins on the road in early 2026 with a UK tour beginning February 26 in Liverpool, followed by dates in Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, and Manchester. The run continues through Brighton, London, Cambridge, and concludes in Ramsgate on March 20. Support across the tour comes from The Sick Man of Europe, Marina Zispin, Those Holy, Maria Uzor, and Massive Luxury Overdose, with each bill tailored to the city (see tour poster below).

Dave Mustaine geht in Rente: Das nächste MEGADETH-Album mit dem Titel „Megadeth“ soll nach über 40 Jahren die letzte Veröffentlichung der Band werden, es erschient am 23. Januar 2026.  Zu tun hat Mustaine trotzdem noch genug: Neben dem finalen Album plant er, 2026 auch seine Memoiren zu veröffentlichen, MEGADETH gehen außerdem auf Abschiedstour. 

Nun hat die Band eine weitere Single aus „Megadeth“ veröffentlucht:

Im November haben MEGADETH mit „I Don’t Care“ die zweite Single ihres Abschieds-Albums „Megadeth“ veröffentlicht: 

Die Idee zu „I Don’t Care“ ist nicht ganz neu, wie Dave Mustaine erklärt:

„Ein Teil des Hauptriffs in diesem Track spukt mir schon seit unserem Album „The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!“ im Kopf herum und icxh wollte sie endlich umsetzen. Ich liebe die Gitarren in diesem Track wirklich sehr. Da ist das Haupt-Rhythmusriff, dann ein sehr bewusstes Down-Picking, dann die Oktavakkorde mit Jump-Picking auf Oktavnoten (während ich weiterhin Down-Picking spiele!). Und das Solo und das Hin und Her zwischen mir und Teemu [Mäntysaari] ist großartig!“

Reinhören kann man außerdem in in die erste Single „Tipping Point“. 

Für seinen Abschied und einen Rückblick fand Mustaine diese Worte:

„Es gibt so viele Musiker, deren Karriere zu Ende gegangen ist, sei es zufällig oder absichtlich. Die meisten von ihnen können nicht selbst entscheiden, ob sie auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Karriere aufhören. Aber genau da bin ich gerade, ich bin um die Welt gereist und habe Millionen  von Fans gewonnen. Es wird schwer, mich von ihnen zu verabschieden. Aber wir freuen uns darauf, dass ihr dieses Album hört und uns auf Tour seht. Wenn es  einen perfekten Zeitpunkt für uns gibt, ein neues Album herauszubringen, dann ist es jetzt. Wenn es einen perfekten Zeitpunkt gibt, um auf Welttournee zu gehen, dann ist es jetzt. Und jetzt ist auch der perfekte Zeitpunkt für uns, euch mitzuteilen, dass es unser letztes Studioalbum ist. Wir haben im Laufe der Jahre viele Freunde gewonnen und ich hoffe, euch alle auf unserer weltweiten Abschiedstournee zu sehen. Seid nicht böse, seid nicht traurig, freut euch für uns alle und feiert mit mir die nächsten Jahre. Wir haben gemeinsam etwas wirklich Wunderbares geschaffen, was so wahrscheinlich nie wieder passieren wird. MALHEUR stellen mit einem Video zu „Bonmot“ einen Song ihres kommenden Albums „lava“ vor:

Die Münsteraner Post Hardcore-Band veröffentlicht ihre Debüt-EP „Lava“ am 6. Februar 2026 in Eigenregie.

“Wenn du in deinen Zwanzigern bist und eigentlich nur la vida loca machen willst, alles Glück der Welt genießt und dann aber die Menschen um dich rum anfangen zu sterben wie die Fliegen, dann ist die eigene Endlichkeit plötzlich sehr präsent in den Jahren, die bei Gleichaltrigen eher vom Ewigkeitsgefühl geprägt sind”, fasst Sänger und Bassist Merten die Texte der EP zusammen. „Ich habe diese Brüche so lange in mir getragen, während gleichzeitig mein Bewusstsein für die Gebrechlichkeit der Welt immer größer wurde. Das, was das mit mir uns uns als Band macht jetzt endlich in Musik fassen zu können ist noch viel befreiender, als ich dachte.“ Das Motiv der Zeit und des Verbleibens sind als die lyrischen Pfeiler auf „lava“, um welche sich die übrigen Worte oft ranken wie kranker Efeu, nicht zu verkennen.

MASSACRE werden Songs des „From Beyond“-Albums und der „Inhuman Condition“-EP neu aufnehmen.

Frontmann Kam Lee erklärt, warum r die alten Songs neu einspielt:

„Ich verstehe, dass es einigen Fans nicht passen wird, dass Neuaufnahmen dieser Songs machen. Diese Tracks sind in Teil unserer Geschichte, nichts kann jemals die Originalaufnahmen ersetzen. Diese Versionen sind heilig und werden immer Ihre Berechtigung haben. Es ging nie darum, die Vergangenheit auszulöschen oder sie zu verbessern. Es geht um Respekt – für die Songs, für die Fans und für das, was diese Musik über die Jahre bedeutet hat.

Diese Veröffentlichung ist einfach eine Hommage an diese Klassiker, die wir mit Erfahrung, Leidenschaft und Intensität neu interpretiert haben. Die Originale bleiben unangetastet. Die neuen Versionen  existiert neben ihnen, nicht an ihrer Stelle. Mit dieser Veröffentlichung wollen wir dieses Erbe würdigen. An die Fans, die MASSACRE all die Jahre die Treue gehalten haben: Das ist für euch. Nehmt es so, wie es gemeint ist – nicht als Ersatz, sondern als Hommage. Danke, dass ihr diese Musik am Leben erhalten habt.“

Auch das Material des MANTAS-Demos „Death By Metal” nimmt sich die Band nochmals vor, MASSACRE werden die Songs beim Kill-Town Death Fest XI in Dänemark im September 2026 live performen, außerdem soll auch dieses Demo neu aufgenommen werden.

STREAMS OF BLOOD, welche dieses Jahr 25. Geburtstag feiern, konnten mich 2017 mit ihrem dritten Langeisen „Allgegenwärtig“ (Review hier) begeistern.
Die „Erløsung“ rauschte 2020 dann irgendwie an mir vorbei. Musikalisch und soundtechnisch gab es da keine riesigen Sprünge.
Mit „Vermaledeit“ erschien im Dezember ein zweites Album über The Hidden Art.
Dieses Mal hat man sich für einen klareren Sound entschieden, was der Band in meinen Ohren nicht so gut tut, was natürlich absolute Geschmacksache ist.
Von einer Hochglanzproduktion kann man hier natürlich nicht sprechen.
Musikalisch hat sich nicht viel getan, was mir sehr entgegenkommt. Von Hochgeschwindigkeits-BM bis hin zu langsamen Parts ist wieder alles vorhanden und gibt der Langeweile oder dem Abschweifen keine große Chance!
In den fünf Jahren zwischen den Alben soll laut Infosheet viel passiert sein (Veränderungen, Verluste und persönliches) was das Album zu dem gemacht hat, was es ist. Eine rohe, unpolierte, ehrliche, kompromisslose Scheibe ohne Bedauern.
Ich komme bei „Vermaledeit“ ins Schwanken. Mir gefallen die Songs, störe mich aber etwas am Sound, den ich jedoch nicht prinzipiell ablehne. Nur für STREAMS OF BLOOD finde ich das Schmutzigere sehr viel passender.
„Vermaledeit“ sehe ich aber definitiv als gute Scheibe an, sie wird jedoch mit Sicherheit nicht so oft bei mir rotieren, wie die beiden Vorgänger.
Zusätzlich möchte ich die tolle Aufmachung des Digipack, für welche Void Revelations verantwortlich ist, hervorheben. Das ist direkt positiv ins Auge gefallen!
Zur Standard-CD wurden 100 Digipaks und 300 Vinyl produziert.

Die Progressive Metal-Band SUM OF SEVEN hat mit „Echoes of the Hypermind“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das dritte Album der Finnen und wurde von Tommi Kujala produziert. Release-Termin ist der 15. Mai 2026 via Inverse Records. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Gitarrist und Sänger Ari Lempinen. Vorab gibt es mit „Supreme“ einen Video-Clip.

„Das Album entfaltet sich aus der Perspektive einer KI, die auf Empathie ausgelegt ist.
