Es ist nach der 2022er-EP „Apologetica“ das erste Album der Italiener aus Rom rund um Gitarrist Enrico Schettino (HIDEOUS DIVINITY), deren Name und Konzept aus der Patristik stammen, der Lehre von den frühen christlichen Schriftstellern, die als Kirchenväter bezeichnet werden. Der Zeitraum wird im Allgemeinen vom Ende der neutestamentlichen Zeit oder dem Ende des apostolischen Zeitalters (ca. 100 n. Chr.) bis entweder 451 n. Chr. (dem Datum des Konzils von Chalkedon) oder bis zum Zweiten Konzil von Nizäa im Jahr 787 betrachtet.

„Catechesis“ wurde von Michael Zech (Ex-SECRETS OF THE MOON) in den The Source Studios gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Manuel Scapinello (u.a. für KANSEIL tätig) ausgestattet. Dwelling here might feel indulgent, a luxurious wallow in quietude, yet it replenishes our spirit, gently guiding us toward acceptance. Through this gentle confrontation, we unravel sorrow’s cryptic poetry, revealing truths about our enduring vulnerability.

Austin’s Porcelain plunges headlong into this emotional landscape with their latest single, Harmony, out now via TODO Records. This track, one half of their forthcoming 7″ release Harmony b/w Torch, set for a July 9th release, resonates with raw emotional sincerity. (Pre-save here.)

“Harmony is a song about loss and how we cope with it,” the band explains. “You tend to lose people more the older you get, and how we process that grief gets more important each time. Giving the space to reflect on how we feel in those moments is healthy and often gets overlooked.”

Formed by Steve Pike (vocals/guitar), Ryan Fitzgibbon (vocals/guitar), Jordan Emmert (bass), and Eli Deitz (drums), Porcelain emerged from the vibrant DIY underbelly of Austin, Texas, quickly establishing themselves with gripping live performances. Their relentless touring has placed them alongside heavyweight acts such as Chat Pile, Agriculture, Portrayal of Guilt, The Blood Brothers, and Trauma Ray, solidifying their presence within the underground community.

Following the success of their self-titled 2024 debut, Harmony marks an evolution in Porcelain’s intense exploration of emotional authenticity. With this release, Porcelain once again channels vulnerability and catharsis, offering listeners a resonant reflection on grief’s intricate depths.

Porcelain spoke with Post-Punk.com about the writing of Harmony, its themes, and their process.

 “Harmony” explores grief and the evolving ways we process loss as we get older. Was there a particular personal experience or story that inspired this song, and how did that emotional weight shape the writing or recording process?

It was a culmination of events over time. The feeling of people slipping away due to death and self abuse was really weighing heavy on my mind when we were writing it. But loss can take many forms to anyone.

Your sound blends post-hardcore intensity with dynamic shifts and emotional vulnerability—how did you approach balancing that raw heaviness with the more reflective, spacious moments on “Harmony?”

You can feel still and at peace while processing grief. You can feel volatile and raw while processing grief. I wanted to music to match those feelings and the experience of navigating those waves of emotions.

This is your first release with TODO Records and comes on the heels of your debut LP. How does “Harmony” represent an evolution or shift in Porcelain’s sound or artistic direction as you move into this next phase, including touring with Pelican? 

We just want to continue to push ourselves sonically and not be afraid to explore different sounds and textures. We’re still in the writing process for the next record, but it’s shaping up to something that we’re all proud of. §

Think Debbie Harry caught in a midnight rendezvous with Garbage and Ride beneath an expansive desert sky.

Aepex surges with a hypnotic intensity, fusing Middle Eastern melodies and a fuzzy warmth that draws listeners into its depths. Here, Kali interrogates the duality of ambition: ascending toward greatness while confronting the hollowness of modern existence. The song’s repetitive, ascending chorus embodies this paradox, each iteration amplifying the urgency and tension inherent in the pursuit of transcendence.

“There’s a point after which you can’t keep driving up against the current anymore,” says Kali. “You just want to pierce through it. I grew up in L.A. It’s my home. I love being in DIY community here. And yet sometimes being in the music scene during these dark political times can feel so daunting. Capitalism makes artists compete, turning us into content machines churning ourselves to a pulp…I don’t just want to keep pushing upward into oblivion. Aepex is the pinnacle of pleasure. A crest. A threshold. It’s about how meaningless the chase can be and finding other ways to forge meaning, finding transcendence amidst chaos and madness. All of these elements started driving me toward a darker direction, both during the songwriting process and in the studio when we were redefining our sound.”

Renowned as the voice behind flower-punk outfit TÜLIPS, Taleen Kali melds her Armenian heritage with Lebanese and Ethiopian rhythms, breathing life into a genre often starved of diverse cultural textures. Her vocal presence slices through the night air with neon intensity, guiding listeners through an ever-evolving musical landscape.

Outside her role as performer, Kali helms the avant-garde Dum Dum Records and the celebrated DUM DUM Zine, ventures pushing boundaries far beyond the typical indie milieu. Her sonic explorations further encompass the mystical realm of sound healing, reflected vividly in her meditative 2021 release, Songs For Meditation, a gentle counterpoint to her punk-rooted rebellion.

For Aepex, the band returned to the familiar embrace of The Cave Studios under the watchful ear of engineer Josiah Mazzaschi (Light FM, Bizou, Child Seat), alongside mixing virtuoso Chris King (Cold Showers, Kai Tak). Notably, Kali steps into the role of co-producer for the first time, imbuing the recording with an intimate creative vision. The track also marks bassist Miles Marsico’s inaugural turn on drums, enhanced by a poignant cameo guitar solo from former member Royce Hsu and an introduction to new guitarist Genevieve Quiquivix. Touring drummer Anthony Schillaci adds rhythmic flourishes.

Aepex‘s release comes ahead of the band’s ongoing support tour with Ringo Deathstarr. They will culminate the tour at The Echoplex on Sunday, June 8, which will also serve as the single release party for Aepex. The band will release a limited edition 7-inch lathe-cut record to celebrate.

Renowned as the voice behind flower-punk outfit TÜLIPS, Taleen Kali melds her Armenian heritage with Lebanese and Ethiopian rhythms, breathing life into a genre often starved of diverse cultural textures. Her vocal presence slices through the night air with neon intensity, guiding listeners through an ever-evolving musical landscape.

Outside her role as performer, Kali helms the avant-garde Dum Dum Records and the celebrated DUM DUM Zine, ventures pushing boundaries far beyond the typical indie milieu. Her sonic explorations further encompass the mystical realm of sound healing, reflected vividly in her meditative 2021 release, Songs For Meditation, a gentle counterpoint to her punk-rooted rebellion.

For Aepex, the band returned to the familiar embrace of The Cave Studios under the watchful ear of engineer Josiah Mazzaschi (Light FM, Bizou, Child Seat), alongside mixing virtuoso Chris King (Cold Showers, Kai Tak). Notably, Kali steps into the role of co-producer for the first time, imbuing the recording with an intimate creative vision. The track also marks bassist Miles Marsico’s inaugural turn on drums, enhanced by a poignant cameo guitar solo from former member Royce Hsu and an introduction to new guitarist Genevieve Quiquivix. Touring drummer Anthony Schillaci adds rhythmic flourishes.

Aepex‘s release comes ahead of the band’s ongoing support tour with Ringo Deathstarr. They will culminate the tour at The Echoplex on Sunday, June 8, which will also serve as the single release party for Aepex. The band will release a limited edition 7-inch lathe-cut record to celebrate.

30 Jahre nach dem erfolgreichen selbstbetitelten Debüt veröffentlichen GARBAGE dieser Tage ihr „inzwischen“ 8. Album. Acht Alben in drei Jahrzehnten zeugt ja eigentlich nicht gerade von fleißiger Produktivität, aber dafür sind diese allesamt geraten und das Bandgefüge seit dem konstant stabil. Selbst wenn die Formel von GARBAGE ab dem Debüt irgendwie gleich geblieben ist, klingen alle Alben immer noch sehr modern bzw. sind gut gealtert und weiterhin relevant. Auch auf „Let All That We Imagine Be The Light“ sind die bewährten Inzidenzen diesmal wieder nur dezent anders vermischt und natürlich perfekt ganz weit vorn produziert. Auffällig hier der deutlich gestiegene EDM-Anteil, welcher mittels Vintage Analog-Equipment das saftig-groovig Fundament für die insgesamt 10 neuen Songs bietet. Gegenüber dem politisch wütenden Vorgänger „No Gods No Master“ sind diesmal die Themen der Texte jedoch mehr persönlicher Natur und die Vocals von Shirley wurden sogar in ihrem Schlafzimmer aufgenommen. Die Gitarren sind dafür nicht ganz so präsent, aber immer noch vorhanden und punktuell um so treffender. Shirley Manson ist ebenso stimmlich weiterhin top in Form und fast alle Songs haben richtiges Hit-Potential, allerdings nur, wenn wir noch in den 90ern wären und die Videos dazu auf MTV laufen würden. Wer nach 7 Alben von GARBAGE immer noch nicht genug hat, sollte mit Nummer 8 absolut kein Problem haben und wer jetzt als Neuling mal reinschnuppern möchte, hat mit „Let All That We Imagine Be The Light“ nicht die schlechteste Möglichkeit. Ein Hingucker diesmal auch das Artwork des Albums, welches im Vinyl- und CD-Format mit einem zusätzlichen transparenten Schuber ausgestattet ist. Die Hälfte des Jahres ist ja nun schon fast um und bisher konnten mich noch nicht allzu viele Werke überzeugen, aber „Let All That We Imagine Be The Light“ schon! (Marco Fiebag)

Die erfolgreiche Mittelalter-Folk-Rockband SCHANDMAUL hat eine neue Single veröffentlicht. Auf „In der Hand“ übergibt Thomas Lindner das Mikrophon offiziell an Marco Klingel alias Till Herence, der schon seit fast zwei Jahrzehnten Teil der großen Schandmaul-Familie ist. Nach Tätigkeiten als Merchandise-Verkäufer, Tourbusfahrer und Vocalcoach hat Till die Formation bereits auf ihren letzten Konzerten wie dem vergangenen Folkfield Festival gesanglich unterstützt. Mit „Magnitudo“ wird am 6. Juni 2025 via Go Down Records das neue Album der Post-Punk / Progressive Rock-Band PERCOSSA FOSSILE erscheinen. Es ist das erste Album der Italiener aus Padua, die zuvor eine selbstbetitelte EP veröffentlicht hatten. Mit der Single „WC“ gibt es nun eine Hörprobe bei bandcamp.

Ruhrgebiet, in den Siebzigerjahren: Mille Petrozza wächst als Sohn einer Malocherfamilie im Essener Stadtteil Altenessen auf. IMPERIAL CRYSTALLINE ENTOMBMENT haben den Nachfolger des 2023er Albums „Ancient Glacial Resurgence“ angekündigt: Die neue Platte „Abominable Astral Summoning“, das dritte Album der Black Metal-Band, erscheint am 11. Juli 2025 via Debemur Morti Productions.

Produktion, Mix und Mastering kommen von Ron Vento aus dem Nightsky Recording Studio. Das Artwork ist von Mike Hrubovcak, das Layout von Yurii Kazarian / Into The Abyss Design.

Die Heavy / Stoner Rock-Band BORRACHO hat mit „Ouroboros“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das sechste Album des US-amerikanischen Trios aus Washington, DC und erforscht das alte alchemistische Konzept der kontinuierlichen Transformation, angewandt auf zeitgenössische soziale Missstände.

„Ouroboros“ wurde von Frank “The Punisher” Marchand bei Waterford Digital in Pasadena produziert und wird am 8. August 2025 via Ripple Music erscheinen. Vorab gibt es zum Opener „Vegas Baby“ einen Video-Clip.

„Sin City konnte nur von Amerika geschaffen werden. Wo sonst gibt es einen Ort, an dem die Sucht gefördert wird? Die Sucht nach Glücksspiel und käuflichem Sex, aber auch der sehr amerikanische materialistische Lebensstil verleiten die Menschen dazu, alles zu riskieren, um den amerikanischen Traum zu verwirklichen. Aber das Haus gewinnt immer. Inspiriert von unserer Reise nach Las Vegas im letzten Jahr, habe ich so viele verschiedene Aspekte des menschlichen Zustands beobachtet. Also beschloss ich, die Geschichte von jemandem zu schreiben, der viel gewinnt und es sich zu Kopf steigen lässt, so dass er aufgrund seiner Arroganz am Ende alles verliert und auf der Straße landet und seinen Körper verkaufen muss. Es ist wirklich eine Geschichte über Arroganz, Ego und Niedergang“, erklärt die Band.

„Vs The World“ wurde von Ben Jones gemixt und gemastert und ist am 23. Mai 2025 erschienen. Mit „Dying Every Day“ – mit Devin Swank (SANGUISUGABOGG) – gibt es nun einen weiteren Video-Clip.
