Die australische Metalcore-Band POLARIS hat einen neuen Live-Mitschnitt geteilt: „Dissipate“ kann man sich bei YouTube ansehen und wurde wie der Clip „Nightmare“ auf dem Knotfest 2025 in Sydney aufgezeichnet. Den Audiomix übernahm Lance Prenc.

Die niederländische Heavy Metal-Band MARTYR veröffentlicht am 15. August 2025 ihr neues Album „Dark Believer“.

MOB RULES kehren nach „Beast Reborn“ (2018) im Jahr 2025 mit einem neuen Studioalbum zurück. „Rise Of The Ruler“ führt dabei das Konzept der beiden Werke „Savage Land“ (1999) sowie „Temple Of Two Suns“ (2000) um eine dystopische Endzeitwelt fort. Erscheinen wird die Scheibe zudem auch in einer limitierten Earbook-Edition mit fünf zusätzlichen Songs sowie einer gesprochenen Version der Story auf einer Bonus-Disc. Abgerundet wird diese Ausgabe durch eine alternative Fassung des Stücks „Dawn Of Second Sun“ sowie zwei Videoclips.

Mit einem Video zu „Future Loom“ haben MOB RULES nun eine weitere Single geteilt.

Am 13. Juni 2025 veröffentlicht die Progressive Rock-Band AVKRVST ihr neues Album “Waving at the Sky” via InsideOutMusic. Zuvor gibt’s mit einem Video zu „The Trauma“ eine weitere Single:

Mit “The Malevolent” hatten die Norweger im April die erste Single im Netz geteilt, bei dem Song ist Ross Jennings von HAKEN als Gastmusiker zu hören.

Für AVKRVST-Sänger Simon Bergseth ist das neue Album eigenständiger als der Vorgänger „The Approbation“:

„Die großartige Resonanz auf unser Debüt ‚The Approbation‘ übertraf alles, was wir uns jemals hätten träumen lassen. Wir haben Konzerte in England, Deutschland, Norwegen und den Niederlanden gegeben. Gleichzeitig machten wir viele Ausflüge in unsere mittlerweile berühmte Hütte, um neues Material zu schreiben, daraus wurde ‚Waving At The Sky‘. Wir haben versucht, uns in eine etwas originellere Richtung zu entwickeln, und vielleicht sind wir auch ein bisschen reifer? Das Album ist eigenständiger als ‚The Approbation‘. Sobald man Teil dieser Gruppe ist, ist man entweder ein Geier oder das elende Stück Fleisch, an dem sie sich laben. Noch so eine warnende Geschichte … Ich erkenne ein Muster.“

FALLUJAH haben Einzelheiten zum Nachflger ihres 2022er Album „Empyrean“ verraten: Das sechste Album der Progressive Death Metal-Band heißt „Xenotaph“  und erscheint am 13. Juni 2025.

Als dritte Single teilten FALLUJAH nun ein Video zu „Step Through The Portal And Breathe“ bei YouTube.

Im April stellte die Band ein Video zu „Labyrinth Of Stone“ und damit die zweite Single von „Xenotaph“ vor.

Mit „Kaleidoscopic Waves“ haben FALLUJAH im März den ersten Track ihres neuesten Albums im Netz veröffentlicht.

Sänger Kyle Schaefer erklärt, wie sich „Xenotaph“ von den anderen FALLUJAH-Album unterscheidet:

„Dies ist unser ehrgeizigstes Album und das technischste, dynamischste und progressivste Material der Band bis heute. Die Musik dieser acht Tracks ist mit ambitionierten Texten verknüpft, einer Geschichte, die sich über verschiedene Zeit- und Realitätsebenen in einer jenseitigen Existenz nach dem Tod erstreckt. Wie habennoch nie so eng zusammengearbeitet wie für ‚Xenotaph‘, mit dem breiten Inputs des aktuellen Line-ups konnten wir unsere Songwritings erweitern und allen Beteiligten gerecht werden.

‚Kaleidoscopic Waves‘ ist perfekt, um die neue Ära von Fallujah einzuläuten. Die Heavy Rock-Band APPALOOZA hat mit dem Video-Clip zu „Magnolia“ eine erste Single ihres kommenden Albums „The Emperor of Loss“ veröffentlicht.

„Dieser Song erforscht auf subtile Weise das Thema des Stockholm-Syndroms, indem er ein tiefes Gefühl von Verlust, Isolation und existenzieller Desorientierung vermittelt“, sagt die Band. „Die Erzählerin – eine Frau – scheint emotional gestrandet zu sein, als wäre sie in den Nachwehen einer Trennung oder eines Verschwindens gefangen, das sie in der Zeit hängen gelassen hat, während sie auf etwas wartet, das sie nicht definieren kann. Mit subtiler Ironie verweist das Lied auf die symbolische Treue und Hingabe der Magnolie und verdreht sie in eine dunklere Sehnsucht: Sie sehnt sich nach ihrem Peiniger, nach genau der Person, deren Abwesenheit ihr ein Gefühl der Leere beschert hat. Mit „Magnitudo“ wird am 6. Juni 2025 via Go Down Records das neue Album der Post-Punk / Progressive Rock-Band PERCOSSA FOSSILE erscheinen. Es ist das erste Album der Italiener aus Padua, die zuvor eine selbstbetitelte EP veröffentlicht hatten.

„Magnitudo“ wurde gemeinsam mit Marco Santaniello aufgenommen und von Daniel Grego gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Marco Checchin.

There is a quiet sanctity in waiting in that breathless pause before joy arrives. The air thickens with anticipation. You begin to cherish the smallest details: the whistle of a kettle, the slant of late-afternoon light, the soft creak of your own breath. The pleasure isn’t in possession, but in the poised heart, the almost-touch, the stillness before the storm. In these suspended moments, the soul rehearses its own awakening. Even amid the mundane frictions of daily partnership, there’s still a quiet magic in discovering something new, something unexpectedly tender, in the person you thought you already knew.

N8NOFACE (say it like “Nate-no-face”) has already lived the kind of life most frontmen fake: a drug-drenched, death-defying descent that reads like a script Fred Durst might option, only to realise it’s too raw even for him. Long before Limp Bizkit tapped him for their Loserville tour, a carnival of chaos storming arenas across the US and Europe, N8 had been busy barely surviving his own B-movie biopic in Tucson, Arizona. There, amid the cracked desert concrete and flickering motel signs, he forged his sound: brutal, breathless, and blitzed by violence.

He began in the MySpace muck as one half of Crimekills, a scrappy, unhinged chiptune-punk duo bashing out one-minute missives in a closet-turned-studio. From there, the collaborations came: Eyedress, The Bloody Beetroots, Cypress Hill – and with them, a growing cult of chaos clung to his name. But somewhere along the way, after a move to Long Beach in the early 2010s, the chaos cracked into a healthier life of sobriety and clarity.

Now signed to Stones Throw, an unlikely but oddly perfect fit, N8NOFACE  is straddling the snarling and the sensitive. Still rooted in synth-punk spit and static, his latest release Waiting to Wait for You hints at something more human: longing, fragility, the awkward ache of connection.

“It’s about still finding joy in watching your partner try outfit after outfit on; feeling like your whole night is waiting to wait, and you can’t wait to do it,” he says.  “Most songs I have written have come to me through things I have seen or experienced (drug tales, border life and the streets), But I have always been a fan of love, and wrote about that too. Love found in the darkest places, sometimes by the scariest people. I always bounce back and forth from heartbreak in the streets or from a lover. This song explores the cool things about love, while still having a backdrop of the scary hard world around us.”

Waiting to Wait for You finds him in collaboration with Marcos Garcia (better known as Chico Mann, founding architect of Antibalas and Here Lies Man). Garcia, who’s also served as N8’s touring right-hand on guitar and keys, brings a haunted warmth to the track, letting longing seep into the static.

This spring and summer, N8NOFACE hits the road again, dragging the ghosts of Tucson into the limelight. First stop: this weekend’s Cruel World Festival, before linking up with longtime co-conspirator Eyedress for The Stoner Tour, a cross-country séance of scuffed beats and smoke-ring nostalgia. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have unveiled Future Ruins, a bold new festival billed as a “cinematic ceremony,” charting uncharted territory by spotlighting the sublime talents of film and television composers. In a city steeped in celluloid history, Los Angeles now readies itself for a singular spectacle at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center on November 8, where composers will reimagine their revered scores, reshaping familiar filmic refrains for the concert stage.

Future Ruins will unfold across three stages at the Equestrian Center, with a mission as ambitious as its name: to embolden its performers to “take big swings and reimagine their work for a live audience.” The formidable bill includes Mark Mothersbaugh, Questlove, Danny Elfman, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Isobel Waller-Bridge, Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein, and a rare performance of Howard Shore’s score for Crash—conducted in homage to the body-horror auteur himself, David Cronenberg.

Future Ruins pledges reinvention of the classics in a grand gathering where cinema’s musical masterminds boldly break free from studio seclusion, stepping into the spotlight to summon symphonic splendour anew.

“There’s no headliner. There’s no hierarchy. This is a stacked lineup of visionaries doing something you might not see again,” Reznor and Ross explained in a statement. “It’s about giving people who are, literally, the best in the world at taking audiences on an emotional ride via music the opportunity to tell new stories in an interesting live setting.”

Always in a delirium where there’s nothing else but fever dreams
Keeping circadian rhythm with a sleep cycle that just repeats
Dreams are curious things. They are the theatre in which the child within us continues to play, unbothered by time’s relentless march. In sleep, we return to golden afternoons and rain-slicked sidewalks, to laughter echoing through hallways now silent. But upon waking, we are struck by the great cosmic joke: everything changes. The treehouse rots, the friends move on, and the world…well, it forgets. Yet there’s beauty in this ache, for it reminds us that permanence is an illusion. The past was never ours to keep.

Jym Persaud touches upon that nostalgic melancholy of revisiting halçyon memories of childhood in a dreamstate, and then being confronted with the harshness of waking reality. Persaud, no stranger to the post-punk scene of London, moves into an experimental noise folk style here, fusing punk influence with world music and electronica. He displays equal reverence and contempt for traditional genre convention, creating music that balances melody with a glitchy cacophony of noise.

Fever Dreams describes a surreal return to a dreamlike version of the past, where memories blur and sleep becomes a cycle of haunting familiarity. Trapped between reality and hallucination, the speaker navigates a looping state of delirium. Waking brings no clarity; just the realization that the imagined past, once comforting, no longer matches the altered present.

Die Zeit des Außenseiterdaseins ist vorbei. Zwar können sich Frontmann Vessel und sein Schlagzeuger II weiterhin hinter ihren Masken verstecken, nicht aber im Schatten abseits des Rampenlichts. Der Durchbruch vom obskuren Geheimtipp zum arenafüllenden Crossover-Phänomen vollzog sich im Falle SLEEP TOKENs in weniger als zwölf Monaten. Der Einfluss sozialer Videoplattformen machte es möglich, die Folgen neben ausverkauften Hallen und millionenfachen Streaming-Aufrufen aber sind nicht nur positiv, wenn man den Briten Glauben schenkt.

„Even In Arcadia“ ist ein zutiefst persönliches Album; eines, das einen Blick hinter die weiße Maske gewährt und tief blicken lässt. Von Selbstzweifeln, Druck und überzogenen Erwartungshaltungen erzählt Mastermind Vessel, aber auch von Sehnsucht und Verlangen. Hier trägt der Frontmann gerne dick auf, sowohl hinsichtlich der Wortwahl („Provider“) als auch in der gesanglichen Umsetzung. Pathos und Theatralik sind für den Frontmann auch diesmal wieder fundamentale Stilmittel, um seinen Gedanken Ausdruck zu verleihen.

SLEEP TOKEN lassen verschiedenste Genres ineinanderfließen, zeigen sich teils jedoch berechenbar
Insofern kann „Even In Arcadia“ zunächst kaum auf den Aha-Effekt des Vorgängers „Take Me Back To Eden“ (2023) hoffen: Die grundlegende Ausrichtung bleibt unberührt, indem SLEEP TOKEN abermals Genres von R&B bis zeitgenössischem Metal ineinanderfließen und sich dabei doch immer wieder vom Erfolgsrezept des Drittwerks beeinflussen lassen. Insbesondere den harten Eruptionen, die anno 2025 überraschend rar gesät sind, fehlt es oft an Inspiration. Als hätte man beispielsweise im ausladenden Rausschmeißer „Infinite Baths“ schlicht noch ein Häkchen auf der To-Do-Liste setzen wollen: Immerhin sind die tiefgestimmten Breitwandgitarren beim letzten Mal ja auch schon gut angekommen.

Das ist einerseits ernüchternd und trotzdem spielen die lauten Ausbrüche eine entscheidende Rolle, da sie dem sonst so ruhig angelegten Album den bitter nötigen Gegenpol spendieren. Fast drei Minuten lang nimmt sich beispielsweise „Look To Windward“ zeit, um in das Werk einzuläuten, bis die einsetzende Rock-Besetzung den repetitiv-meditativen Auftakt ablöst. Ab hier lassen SLEEP TOKEN alle Zügel fallen, um genau das fortzuführen, was ihnen eine treu-fanatische Anhängerschaft eingebracht hat.

Auf „Even In Arcadia“ zeigen SLEEP TOKEN erneut ein Faible für Gegensätze
Ohne Scheuklappen und einem Faible für Gegensätze erkundet „Even In Arcadia“ somit kein unerforschtes Terrain, erweitert die Spielwiese der Band aber durch neue Facetten und die eine oder andere Selbstreferenz. So erinnert „Gethsemane“ kurzzeitig an „Euclid“ vom Vorgängeralbum, während im Hintergrund der Arrangements immer wieder bekannte Melodien vorbei zu huschen scheinen. Das geschieht oft subtil, drängt sich im kauzig-naiven „Past Self“, dessen Loop frappierend an das „Great Fairy Fountain“-Thema der „The Legend of Zelda“-Reihe erinnert, allerdings regelrecht auf.

Dennoch: Gerade die Ausgestaltung der Synthscapes und Ambient-Teppiche verleihen den einzelnen Tracks ihren individuellen Anstrich. Von den 8bit-inspirierten Sounds zu Beginn von „Look To Windward“ über die 80er Note des Titeltracks bis hin zu den Trap-Beats von „Dangerous“ finden SLEEP TOKEN stets einen anderen Zugang, ohne das schlüssige Gesamtbild aufzugeben. Auf diese Weise kann „Caramel“ problemlos den getragenen Pop-Hit in ein rohes Post-Black-Finale übersetzen, während der sonst etwas unterbeschäftigte Drummer II endlich sein komplettes kreatives Repertoire abrufen darf.

Manchmal lassen sich SLEEP TOKEN zurück in die Komfortzone locken
Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass wir hiervon gerne mehr gehört hätten, wobei „Even In Arcadia“ völlig bewusst andere Schwerpunkte setzt. Obgleich sich SLEEP TOKEN hin und wieder doch zurück in die Komfortzone locken lassen, sucht das Gespann im Allgemeinen neue Horizonte zu erschließen. Diese fallen der Thematik entsprechend ruhiger und konsternierter aus, während die Musiker beizeiten auch mal etwas zu richtungslos durch die verschiedenen Genres mäandern. Die Kurve aber bekommt das Album letzten Endes immer noch rechtzeitig, so dass selbst mitten im Rampenlicht und der sterilen Überproduktion zum Trotz viel zu entdecken bleibt – so man denn die Einladung annimmt, einen verstohlenen Blick hinter die charakteristische Maske des eigenwilligen Frontmanns zu wagen.

FÏX8:SËD8 have announced their return to the stages with the “Lessons in Humility 2025” tour this autumn with fourteen dates in their native Germany as well as one show each in Belgium, Poland, and Switzerland. The German dark electro act will be touring in support of their upcoming next album “Octagram”. Label mates 2ND FACE and also DATA VOID will join the road trip as support bands on many dates as well as more opening acts.

Chameleons – ”Arctic Moon”

Following a triumphant 2024, the celebrated Manchester-formed post-punk legends Chameleons (formerly The Chameleons) are revving up momentum with the announcement of their long-awaited new album, ‘Arctic Moon’. Scheduled for release on 12th September 2025 via Metropolis Records, it follows the ‘Where Are You?’ and ‘Tomorrow Remember Yesterday’ EPs that were issued last year.

 “Our new album is finally finished and being prepared for release,” beams vocalist and bassist Vox (aka Mark Burgess). “There is an obvious maturity to the songwriting on this record, while anyone familiar with our past work will hear that this is a positive step forward.”

The band will continue to tour extensively either side of album release, with dates in Spain and Portugal between 6th-19th June followed by a set at the Forever Now festival in Milton Keynes on 22nd before a return to the US for headlining shows plus a dozen with The Psychedelic Furs commencing on 26th.

A further headlining tour of North American cities kicks off a fortnight after the release of ‘Arctic Moon’, plus mainland European dates in Germany and the Benelux scheduled from late October ahead of a previously announced UK tour in November. All concert and ticket info can be found HERE.

“We’re really pleased with how the album has turned out and really looking forward to the challenge of performing songs from it live when we begin the ‘Arctic Moon’ tour,” continues Vox. “For the first time, we’ve been able to use real orchestral strings on a couple of songs, which were arranged and performed by Pete Whitfield at Real Strings in Manchester. They have been given a truly epic quality, but we have every confidence our keyboard player Danny [Ashberry] will utilise all his skill to help bring this to the stage!”

Long cited as a hugely influential act, having inspired the likes of (The) Verve, Oasis, Interpol, The Killers, Editors and White Lies, Chameleons are renowned for their transformative catalogue and intense, emotionally charged live performances, creating a legacy that extends far beyond their four studio albums to date. Their widely acclaimed debut, ‘Script of the Bridge’ (1983) has been cited by many as a masterpiece way ahead of its time, and was followed by ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically!’ (1984), ‘Strange Times’ (1986) and ‘Why Call It Anything?’ (2001).

 With ‘Arctic Moon’ soon to be added to these, the band has propelled forward musically while retaining the essence that made them iconic. “While we are proud of the band’s legacy, we really wanted to forge something fresh while retaining that profound and imaginative quality we are known for,” Vox reflects. “We think that we have managed to do that and deliver a very strong record.”

 With new music from ‘Arctic Moon’ to be rolled out in the coming weeks, Vox and the band are excited for this next chapter in the band’s story. “Everyone involved brought their ‘A’ game to this project and personally I can’t wait for people to hear it,” he says. “I’m sure we can generate a lot of momentum that will propel us forward and galvanise the band for the next album we make.”

Im Sommer 2025 ist KING DIAMOND auf Tour. Je nach Termin wird die Band dabei von PARADISE LOST, ANGEL WITCH und/oder UNTO OTHERS begleitet. Ende vergangenes Jahr war noch MYRKUR als Special Guest in der KING DIAMOND-Band angekündigt, nun gab die Band via Facebook bekannt, dass stattdessen Hel Pyre die Backing Vocals übernehmen wird.

Angekündigt sind Konzerte in Berlin, Wiesbaden, Oberhausen, Ludwigsburg, Zürich (CH) sowie auf dem ROCKHARZ OPEN AIR.

Single „Spider Lilly“: erster Teil einer Horror-Trilogie
Mit einem Video zu „Spider Lilly“ stellte KING DIAMOND Ende 2024 einen ersten Song seiner Horror-Trilogie vor. Für den Track arbeitet die Band zum ersten Mal mit Arthur Rizk zusammen, zur aktuellen KING DIAMOND-Besetzung gehören KING DIAMOND, die Gitarristen Andy La Rocque und Mike Wead, Bassist Pontus Egberg und Schlagzeuger Matt Thompson. Bei „Spider Lilly“ ist außerdem MYRKUR als Gastsängerin zu hören.

Über die geplante Trilogie ist noch nicht allzuviel bekannt, einer der Teile trägt den Titel „Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920“.

Paradox Obscur – ”Lose This Feeling”

New Single / Metropolis Records.

Paradox Obscur is the Greek electronic dance duo of Kriistal Ann and Toxic Razor, who have built a devoted global following since debuting in 2014. Having signed to Metropolis Records to issue the ‘Singles & Rarities’ collection in 2021, their current studio album ‘Morphogenesis’ followed in mid-2022.

The group have spent the interim period self-releasing a series of singles, but now return to Metropolis for ‘Lose This Feeling’, a cover version of a 2023 dance anthem by Dutch DJ and producer Armin van Buuren. Replacing the frenetic vibe of the original, it has been reinterpreted by Paradox Obscur in a dreamily nostalgic synth-oriented style further adorned with an emotionally heartfelt vocal by Kriistal Ann.

Having released the single on 25th April, a video for it is available from today (6th May). The band describe it as “an allegory for what one dreams of and would like to keep within oneself, the sensations and emotions created by life’s moments.”

‘Lose This Feeling’ is the first single from a new album entitled ‘IKONA’ due later in 2025 that will showcase a wide range of both retro and modern electronic styles.

The pair initially met via very different disciplines, with Kriistal Ann having studied classical music and piano at the Prague State Conservatory, while Toxic Razor was a synth and drum machine enthusiast who had been recording his fledgling ideas. Having formed Paradox Obscur, their uncompromising ethos from the off was to record old-school electronic music in real-time, utilising synths and drum machines to create an authentic analog sound with a haze of ’80s dance nostalgia.

The pooling of the duo’s diverse talents has been critically acclaimed and led to inclusion at numerous festivals and events, where they have shared stages with other important artists on the minimal-electro, darkwave and post-punk scenes.
