„Krásno“ bedeutet „Schönheit“ – und auch wenn der Titel dem etwas zu gewollt schönen Cover nicht unbedingt alle Ehre macht, ist der slowakischen Band mit ihrem zweiten Album ein großer Wurf gelungen. Ihr erstes, „Zverstva“, hatte ich – ironischerweise gerade wegen des schönen, minimalistischen Covers – auch schon gehört, hängengeblieben war da aber noch nichts.

„Krásno“ ist nun in jeder Hinsicht mehr als der Vorgänger – mehr Melodie, mehr Klarheit, mehr In-die-Fresse. Du bist verzweifelt angesichts einer Welt, die menschengemacht zugrunde geht, obwohl sie Potential für soviel Schönes bietet? Du suchst ein Ventil für deine Verzweiflung? BESNA liefern dir alles: Bombast, Blast-Beats, Breakdowns, Butter-bei-die-Fische: „Das Album dient als kraftvolle Reflektion menschlicher Widerstandskraft und als Ruf für kulturelle und soziale Erneuerung“, heißt es auf der Bandcamp-Seite, und in der Tat gibt es in nur dreißig Minuten Kraft für ganze Tage.

Überwältigende Crescendi, pure Epik
Das geht schon mit dem wunderschönen Eröffnungsriff los und steigert sich bereits im Titeltrack, der an zweiter Stelle folgt, zu einem spätestens beim dritten Durchlauf schlichtweg überwältigenden Crescendo. Dann folgt mit „Hranice“ direkt das nächste Highlight, ehe ein Zwischenspiel in bester DEAFHEAVEN-Manier zum Verschnaufen einlädt – ein kurzes Vergnügen, wie das ganze Album halt, denn danach geht es direkt weiter mit dem berauschenden Wechselspiel aus zarten Melodien, brachialen Riffs, kraftvollem Drumming und verzweifeltem Geschrei, bis sich in dem grandiosen „Mesto spi“ schließlich alles nochmal in purer Epik entlädt.

Warum mir altem Metal-Traditionalisten so ein (im Übrigen perfekt produzierter) Hybrid aus Black Metal und Hardcore plötzlich soviel gibt? Vielleicht liegt es an der Weltlage, vielleicht an der persönlichen Verfassung, vielleicht auch daran, dass ich des romantischen Eskapismus der Traditionalisten aus Gründen gerade ein bisschen überdrüssig bin? Vielleicht aber sind BESNA auch einfach zu gut und zu geil, als dass man sie ignorieren könnte. Wer also von der neuen DEAFHEAVEN (und, um einen weiteren naheliegenden Vergleich zu bemühen, älteren ENVY) nicht genug kriegen kann, sie aber einfach schon zu oft gehört hat: Hier gibt’s frisches Futter, Leute. Holt es euch!

Gleich zu Beginn brechen SVNTH mit den Erwartungen: „Pink Noise Youth“ kommt optisch in ebenjener angesagter Neonästhetik daher, die es der Titel verspricht. Das Intro „Inhale“ beginnt dann überraschend mit indischer Sitar und verströmt ein eher wenig urbanes Feeling. Und es Bedarf einer weiteren kleinen Gewöhnung: SVNTH, die bis 2020 unter dem Namen SEVENTH GENOCIDE agierten, schmeißen viel Ballast über Bord. Der erste Teil ihrer Farben-Trilogie „Spring In Blue“ hatte genau einen Song unter zehn Minuten, nun pendelt sich die italienische Formation auf viereinhalb Minuten ein.

Unkonventionelle Instrumente, verknappte Songs: SVNTH gehen auf „Pink Noise Youth“ neue Wege.
Dieser Fokus auf eher klassische Songstrukturen steht SVNTH allerdings gut. Gleichzeitig stoppt das die Band nicht, zwischen den Genres zu operieren; im Gegenteil: Mit fast schon unverschämter Selbstverständlichkeit startet „Cinnamon Moon“ als Post Black Metal-Stück, baut auf einen Shoegaze-Chorus und fährt gegen Ende in ein melancholisches Finale zwischen Post Rock und Wave. Natürlich, originell ist das nicht gerade, aber SVNTH beherrschen Spannungsbögen und bringen den Herzschmerz authentisch rüber. Auch „Elephant“ spielt erfolgreich auf dieser Klaviatur: sehnsüchtige Leadgitarren, Laut-Leise-Dynamik, eine spürbare Verwandtschaft zur Sentimentalität von KLIMT 1918, ausgiebiges Hingeben an Melancholie, ohne in Längen abzudriften.

Diese Rezeptur wirkt deshalb frisch, weil SVNTH auch eine andere Seite haben und auf „Pink Noise Youth“ zwischendurch die Zähne zeigen. „Narrow, Narrow“ und „Winter Blues“ lassen Einsprengsel von Hardcore zu – kleine, wütende D-Beats lockern das Klangbild auf und präsentieren eine etwas wütendere Seite der Band. Auch das Instrumental „Exhale“ tut „Pink Noise Youth“ gut: Es blickt augenzwinkernd zum Goth-Western von FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM und fährt am Ende eine bedrückende Riffwand auf. Dazwischen steht viel postpunkige und shoegazige Melancholie: „Perfume“ ist als Albumhit schon recht zahm, ebenso wie „Nairoby Lullaby“, das eigentlich schon was für Indiediscos ist.

„Pink Noise Youth“ baut auf Abwechslung: SVNTH lassen viel, aber manchmal auch etwas zu viel in den Songs passieren.
Es gibt viel auf „Pink Noise Youth“ zu entdecken, und es passiert dank mutiger Arrangements und groß gedachter Instrumentierung mehr in diesen acht Songs, als es zunächst den Anschein macht. Deshalb gehen die Songs auch nicht sofort zuckrig ins Ohr; aktives Hören und dranbleiben ist gefragt. Allerdings fügen sich nicht alle Instrumente gleich gut ins Soundbild ein: Die Sitar ist nicht überall passend untergebracht, und Genrekollegen wie DEAFHEAVEN und NOCTAMBULIST hatten heuer die bisher intensiveren Alben vorliegen. Dennoch: SVNTH haben mit „Pink Noise Youth“ ein emotionales, stimmiges und vielseitiges Album geschrieben, das mitreißende Momente und mit seinen Einflüssen aus Hardcore eine gewisse Eigenständigkeit hat, die die Sentimentalität ein wenig abmildert. „Pink Noise Youth“ fühlt sich somit wie Erinnerungefetzen aus der längst vergangenen Jugend an, alle Emotionen und Leidenschaften sind da, aber emotional lässt sich nicht immer andocken.

Die Scheibe, welche von den Teufelsgeistern während der Rauhnächte im Bayrischen Wald handelt, folgt auf das 2022er-Debütalbum „Tuiflsrijtt“ nach. Hotel Grand Amour arrives like a telegram from a forgotten border town, complete with smudged ink, foreign stamps, and heartbreak sealed inside. The debut single from Pissoir des Dieux, a collaborative alchemy between Larissa Iceglass (Lebanon Hanover), Vincenzo Wieczerzyński (Chaos International), and Owen Pratt (Uncanny Valley), this mysterious song drifts like perfume through a cracked hotel window: faded, fragrant, faintly stained with regret.

Recorded in the slow, sighing countryside of France’s Occitanie region, the trio chased something ghosted from modern music; something more felt than formatted. The result is a brittle ballad perched between 60s pop languor, neo-folk fatalism, and the brittle bones of early wave. Think Nico and Marianne Faithfull flickering to life in a Lee Hazlewood tune after an ill-advised absinthe binge. There’s also a bit of a nod to the enigmatic work from Peter Murphy and Mick Karn as Dalis Car.

A spaghetti-western guitar motif stumbles into Iceglass’s distinctive soft, weathered murmur; a voice half-lost, half-lurking. A piano glints as Wieczerzyński’s unexpected bass solo answers with a shrug and a cigarette, while Pratt’s tashikoto lends a surreal, twinkling ache. It’s delicate but not fragile; worn but not weary.

Lyrically, Hotel Grand Amour is a last-ditch prayer whispered into the corners of the downtrodden, searching for angels in cracked suburbs and love in a hotel that may never exist. Iceglass directs the video, a poignant study in stillness and slow collapse: a figure sits at the bar, alone, watching as others twirl through joy and delusion. This forlorn number is a hymn for the heartsick, a postcard from the precipice.

A victim of collision on the open sea
Nobody ever said that life was free

But use your freedom of choice
The sky hung low over downtown Brooklyn, slate grey and heavy, but the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre pulsed with anticipation. Outside at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues, queues snaked like party serpents, alive with the chatter and glee of the Spud Army.  The pre-show music – sounding suspiciously like Mark Mothersbaugh’s jaunty scores – had the theatre crew and photo pit dancing long before the show even started. Fans in yellow radiation suits, cherry-red Energy Domes, and even a giant papier-mâché Mark Mothersbaugh head gathered in joyful formation.

Devo had landed.

Nearly a century old, the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre was originally commissioned by Paramount Pictures as a shrine to the silver screen, among the first theatres built for “talkies.” Its lush Baroque interiors still glint with marble, gold leaf, and grandeur. Over the decades, it played host to jazz royalty: Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis…and early rock ’n’ roll riots thanks to Alan Freed. After years dormant as a performance space, it reopened in 2024, gloriously restored and ready.

Devo, now on their farewell tour 50 Years of De-Evolution… Continued!, sold the place out. The crowd was multigenerational, ecstatic, dressed to de-evolve. The crew kept spirits high: the band’s grinning bus driver swapping celebrity selfie stories, the tour photographer helping fans secure tossed Tyvek suits like holy relics. The mood was electric, absurd, alive.

No opener. No filler. Just Devo in full force. Devo were pioneers in the music video medium throughout the 1970s, popping out satirical clips long before MTV was even a passing fancy. The spirits of Devo’s fallen comrades – Alan “Oh that Alan!” Myers and Bob Casale – were celebrated in the films. The show opened with their cult classic Rod Rooter Now video, projected perfectly on the grand screen. Then came the rapid-fire rush: Don’t Shoot (I’m A Man), Peek-A-Boo!, Going Under.

Mark Mothersbaugh, bounding across the stage, traded synths and vocals with wide-eyed frenzy; Bob Mothersbaugh held court on guitar, Gerald Casale mugged and grinned like a man born for this moment. The lineup was flanked by Josh Hager on guitar and keyboards and Jeff Friedl on drums.

Costume changes came with short film breaks; they played the Carl Sagan film, and of course the classic Corporate Anthem, but the momentum never flagged. Red domes bobbed. Blue lights spun. The band blazed on.

When Whip It landed mid-set – no encore tease, just straight delivery – it detonated. Mothersbaugh beamed like a mischievous preacher, flinging Energy Domes and radiation suits into a sea of outstretched arms. The crowd surged. The best of Devo’s decades-deep canon rolled out in rapid succession: Jocko Homo, Gates of Steel, Freedom of Choice…each track a hit, a jolt, a reminder of what’s at stake.

Devo closed with Beautiful World, summoning Booji Boy to the stage: a shrill, rubber-faced oracle screeching his way through the deceptively sweet ode to disillusionment. What starts as glossy praise soon curdles, its surface cracking to reveal a world bruised by violence, injustice, and decay.  It was the perfect parting shot: part warning, part wink, part wisdom scraped from the wreckage. Booji Boy ended the show in style as he unleashed a torrent of smiley-face bouncy balls into the crowd: symbols of innocence in freefall, joy distorted, optimism bouncing toward oblivion.

Born in the wake of the Kent State shooting on May 4, 1970, Devo’s message has remained remarkably intact. This particular performance marked exactly 55 years, almost to the day, since the tragedy they witnessed. Five decades later, campus shootings feel like almost a daily occurrence. In a twist of irony, the National Guard stood imposingly in the DeKalb subway entrance, clutching M-17 pistols and yes, M-4 rifles – another annoyance to avoid on the ride home from the show. Have we learned a damn thing?  Nah. Devo was right all along. We must repeat, we must repeat.

And yet, in the crowd, a fan in a MAKE AMERICA DEVO AGAIN hat stood as proof that amid the entropy, the spirit still mutates, still marches. Though billed as a farewell, this didn’t feel like goodbye. It was a raucous celebration of weirdness, resistance, rhythm, and the glorious chaos that has defined 50 years of De-Evolution.

Die Metalcore / Thrash Metal-Band SHADOWS FALL hat Ende 2024 einen Vertrag mit MNRK Heavy abgeschlossen. Gemeinsam stellte man im Zuge dessen die thrashige Comeback-Single „In The Grey“ mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube vor. Dabei handelte es sich um den ersten Track seit über zehn Jahren – das letzte Album „Fire From The Sky“ erschien im Jahr 2012.

Neue Musik war anfänglich nicht zwangsläufig angedacht, erklärt Sänger Brian Fair:

„Als Shadows Fall zum ersten Mal in den Proberaum zurückkehrten, um sich auf die Reunion-Shows vorzubereiten, wussten wir nicht, ob dies zu neuer Musik führen würde, aber die Freude am gemeinsamen Jammen und all die Riffs, die Jon [Donais] in seinem Kopf herumschwirrten, führten uns fast sofort in diese Richtung. Die Ideen begannen zu fließen, die Energie baute sich auf und neue Songs nahmen aus dem Chaos heraus Form an.“

Jetzt legt die Gruppe mit einem weiteren Clip nach: „Souls Devoured“ ist in Bild und Ton bei YouTube verfügbar.

SARCATOR sind im Sommer in Europa unterwegs, in Deutschland spielen die Schweden auf einigen Festival und ist Teil von MIDNIGHTs „Steel, Riust & Disgust“-Tour mit Konzerten in Weinheim, Berlin und Leipzig.

WARKINGS veröffentlichen ihr fünftes Album: „Armageddon“ erscheint am 4. Juli 2025. Nun hat die Band auch Video zur zweiten Single „Genghis Kahn“ veröffentlicht, einer Kooperation mit ORDEN OGAN.

Zum Titeltrack „Armageddon” gibt’s seit Mitte April ein Video bei YouTube.

„Armageddon ist nicht nur das Ende – es sind die Momente der Geschichte, die die Welt für immer verändert haben. Das Album ist eine Hommage an die Krieger und Schildmaiden, die sich den Schlachten stellten die ihre Welt prägten.“ (WARKINGS über ihr neues Album)

Mit ihrem Ambitionen halten ALIEN WEAPONRY keinesfalls hinterm Berg: Schon die ersten Takte des Openers „Crown“ legen nahe, dass die Neuseeländer mit ihrem Drittwerk die nächste Stufe erklimmen wollen. Das Gaspedal zieht das Trio sogleich an, während das thrashige Riffing schnurstracks den Weg nach vorne sucht. Geschmeidiger und schlüssiger könnte man die Arrangements umschreiben, die fein zurechtgestriegelt leicht von der Hand und ohne Umwege ins Ohr gehen. Manchmal blitzt gar eine Spur TRIVIUM auf, während wir Sänger Lewis de Jong je nach Stimmungslage manchmal zwischen Matt Heafy und SLIPKNOTs Corey Taylor verorten möchten.

Erkaufen müssen sich ALIEN WEAPONRY diese neue Schwerpunktsetzung jedoch mit Einbußen an anderer Stelle. „Te RÄ�“ erleichtert uns den unmittelbaren Zugang und hält auch rifftechnisch interessantere Spielereien bereit, als es die Band in der Vergangenheit vermochte. Dafür bleibt aber ein Teil des ursprünglichen Charakters auf der Strecke. Auf die maorische Sprache will die Formation selbstverständlich nicht verzichten, wie es „Mau Moko“ oder „Tama-Nui-Te-RÄ�“ nachdrücklich unterstreichen. Die musikalischen Tribal-Akzente gehen mit den reduzierten Groove-Metal-Anleihen jedoch ein Stück weit verloren.

ALIEN WEAPONRY sind als Songwriter gereift, verlieren aber mit den Ecken und Kanten auch etwas von ihrer Einzigartigkeit
Das macht „Te RÄ�“ zu einem durchaus kompetent geschriebenen Album, das aber zwischendurch immer wieder gegen die Beliebigkeit anzukämpfen hat. Variation halten das schwer anmutende „Hanging By A Thread“ sowie das introspektive „Myself To Blame“ bereit, wo ALIEN WEAPONRY ihre Nu-Metal-Einflüsse hervorkehren. Den Höhepunkt jedoch markiert ein wenig später das mächtige „Taniwha“, das nicht zuletzt dank des unaufhaltsamen Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD) am Mikro keinen Stein auf dem anderen lässt.

Walzend schließt das folgende „Blackened Sky“ konsequent und zähneknirschend an, indem es groovende Death-Metal-Riffs einfließen lässt. Keine Frage, als Songwriter sind die drei Musiker hörbar gewachsen. Insofern sind die eigenen Ambitionen grundsätzlich keineswegs zu hoch gegriffen: Den nächsten Schritt zu tätigen sollte für ALIEN WEAPONRY mit diesem Material eigentlich nur Formsache sein – allein die abgehobelten Ecken und Kanten darf die Band künftig gerne wieder mit ähnlichem Stolz zur Schau stellen wie ihre maorischen Wurzeln, sind sie doch in diesem Fall das Salz in der Suppe.

Australien im Dreierpack: PARKWAY DRIVE holen im September und Oktober 2025 ihr 20-jähriges Jubiläum auch mit einer Tour durch Europa nach. Begleitet wird die Formation dabei von THY ART IS MURDER sowie THE AMITY AFFLICTION.

In Deutschland spielt das Gespann Konzerte in Leipzig, München, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dortmund und Stuttgart. In Österreich gibt es eine Show in Wien, die Schweiz wird mit einem Konzert in Zürich bedacht.

Am 2. Mai 2025 erschien das neue Album „Product Of The Environment“ von MISFIRE. Mit dem Musikvideo „Left For Dead“ steht nun ein weiterer Höreindruck bereit. Als Gast ist hier Rob Dukes (EXODUS) zu hören.

Zuvor gab es den Clip „Living The Dream“ als weitere Hörprobe der Platte. Außerdem stellte die Thrash Metal-Band aus Chicago die Leadsingle mit einem Video zu „We Went Through Hell“ vor.

Drummer und Bandgründer hat für das Album ein neues Line-up zusammengestellt und sagt:

Das 36 Crazyfists sich aufgelöst haben, ist irgendwie komplett an mir vorbeigegangen.
Das habe ich erst erfahren, als ich mitbekommen habe, dass mein Lieblingsmetalcoresänger Brock Lindow eine neue Band am Start hat. Und das sind PARADISE SLAVES! Die Band wurde im Netz unter anderem damit angekündigt, dass Mitglieder von eben 36 Crazyfists und auch von Diecast und Pentagram/Blitzkid involviert sind. Zum Glück bleibt mir wenigstens die Stimme erhalten, dachte ich als erstes mit viel Wehmut! Das war Anfang März, als es schon 3 Vorabsingles gab („Aesthetic Of Serpents“, „A Fever To Defeat“ und „Dreamers“), die ab dann bei mir in Dauerschleife liefen. Mit den 3 Songs war ich dann schon sehr glücklich und freute mich aufs Album, was ich, als großer 36 Crazyfists Fan, natürlich vorbestellt habe.
Als ich mit dem Opener „For Those Who Watch The Sea“ in die Platte einstieg, war ich allerdings überrascht, da sich der Song mit seinen elektronischen Elementen und eher wenig Gitarrenbrett merklich von den Vorabsongs abhob. Ich fühlte mich an mehreren Stellen eher an 30 Seconds To Mars als an 36 Crazyfists erinnert. Ich konnte das Ganze nicht richtig einsortieren. Aber der Song gefiel mir trotzdem, würde innerhalb der Platter aber eher im unteren Bereich von mir gerankt werden.
Dann folgten die ersten 3 Vorabsingles in oben genannter Reihenfolge, mit Metalcoreriffing, wie man es auch von 36CF kennt. Da wurde meine Seele dann gestreichelt. Bei der ersten Vorabsingle „A Fever To Defeat“, welche auf dem Hoch der Covidpandemie entstand, geht es auch um eben diese. Und Brocks Tochter und Frau steuern Backgroundvocals bei, tolle Sache! Nach dem Titaltrack und „Glass Mountain“ kommt dann weitere Unterstützung am Mikro. PARADISE SLAVES leihen sich bei der vierten und letzten Vorabsingle „Swim North“ die Stimme Trevor Phipps´ von Unearth. Der entsprechende Song klingt auch teilweise musikalisch eher nach Unearth als nach dem was PARADISE SLAVES sonst auf „With Hell In His Eyes“ bieten, zumindest an den Stellen in den Trevor involviert ist. Ich könnte mir auch vorstellen, dass man sich die Arbeit bei dem Song geteilt hat, da bei Spotify Unearth auch als Künstler angegeben sind. Vielleicht taucht der Song ja auch noch auf dem nächsten Album von Unearth auf, quasi mit Brock Lindow als Gast.
Das wäre schon schlau.
Besondere Aufmerksamkeit bekam der Song „Somebody To Shove“ von mir. Im Refrain dachte, was das denn für geile aber ungewöhnliche Melodien sind. Vielleicht der erste Song, den die Truppe damals geschrieben hat. Dann habe ich mich aber schlau gemacht und herausgefunden, dass der Song im Original von Soul Asylum stammt, was ich außerhalb der Refrains absolut nicht raushören konnte, da mir das Original bis dahin nicht bekannt war. Tolles Cover.
Der längste Track „Always Have Always Will“ beschließt die Platte etwas ruhiger.
Die fast 44 Minuten vergingen für mich ziemlich zügig, da das Songwriting abwechslungsreich gestaltet ist und keine Langeweile aufkommen lässt. Außerdem studiere ich Brocks Stimme bei jedem Hören. Danke, dass diese Band durch Zufall entstanden ist. Killswitch Gitarrist Joel Stroetzel hat Brock angefragt, ob er auf dem Soloalbums seines Bruder Tylers nicht Gesang beisteuern wolle. Deswegen liegt uns jetzt „With Hell In His Eyes“ vor. Danke, Joel! Dieses Album kommt definitiv in meine AOTY-Liste! (hendrik)

The fact that 36 Crazyfists broke up somehow completely passed me by.
I only found out when I heard that my favorite metalcore singer Brock Lindow had started a new band. And that band is PARADISE SLAVES! The band was announced online as including members of 36 Crazyfists, as well as Diecast and Pentagram/Blitzkid. At least I still get to hear that voice, I thought wistfully at first! This was in early March, when three singles had already been released in advance: „Aesthetic Of Serpents,“ „A Fever To Defeat,“ and „Dreamers.“ From that moment on, they were on constant repeat for me. I was already really happy with those three tracks and was looking forward to the album, which, as a huge 36 Crazyfists fan, I of course pre-ordered. When I started the album with the opener “For Those Who Watch The Sea,” I was surprised, though—it stood out noticeably from the pre-release singles due to its electronic elements and the lack of heavy guitars. In many parts, it reminded me more of 30 Seconds to Mars than 36 Crazyfists. I wasn’t quite sure how to place it. Still, I liked the track, although within the context of the album, I’d rank it on the lower end. Then the first three pre-release singles followed, in the order mentioned above, featuring the kind of metalcore riffing familiar from 36CF. That really soothed my soul. The first single, „A Fever To Defeat,“ which was written at the height of the COVID pandemic, deals with that very topic. Brock’s daughter and wife contributed background vocals too—what a great touch! After the title track and “Glass Mountain,” more guest vocals appear. On the fourth and final pre-release single, “Swim North,” PARADISE SLAVES borrow the voice of Trevor Phipps from Unearth. The song, musically, partly sounds more like Unearth than what PARADISE SLAVES otherwise offer on „With Hell In His Eyes,“ at least during the parts Trevor is involved in. I could even imagine they co-wrote it, since Unearth is also credited as an artist on Spotify. Maybe the track will also appear on Unearth’s next album, with Brock Lindow as a guest. That would actually be a clever move. One track that especially caught my attention was “Somebody To Shove.” In the chorus, I thought: what awesome but unusual melodies! Maybe it was the first song the band wrote? Then I looked it up and found out that it’s originally by Soul Asylum—something I couldn’t tell at all outside the chorus, since I wasn’t familiar with the original. Great cover. The album ends on a quieter note with its longest track, “Always Have Always Will.” The nearly 44 minutes flew by for me, as the songwriting is diverse and never gets boring. And I study Brock’s voice with every listen. I’m thankful that this band came together by chance. Killswitch guitarist Joel Stroetzel asked Brock if he wanted to contribute vocals to his brother Tyler’s solo album. And that’s how „With Hell In His Eyes“ came into existence. Thank you, Joel! Chicago’s Pixel Grip drags the wires straight from the wall and wraps them around your ribcage with Percepticide: The Death of Reality, their third full-length set to drop June 12. With it comes Reason to Stay, a scorched hymn to betrayal and resilience, a beatdown dressed in latex and bruises.

The trio—Rita Lukea, Jonathon Freund, and Tyler Ommen—move as one charged entity, sparks flying where bodies meet circuits. Lukea’s voice doesn’t serenade; it lashes out, each word a shard slicing across basslines that buckle like beaten metal, synths scraping cold as concrete teeth. It hums with the anxious static of a television abandoned in a room where love is passed out on the floor.

No softness soothes these bruises, no tidy epiphanies whisper comfort; instead, boots stampede through emotional wreckage. Pixel Grip pose a relentless question—why give anything less than your all? Their answer vibrates from shattered mirrors and smoke-hazed club speakers, unyielding, defiant, and drenched in sweat and mascara.

Pixel Grip’s vision of resilience is raw-edged and furious, an endurance born not from hope but spite, staying just to witness adversaries crumble. It’s darkwave with bloodied knuckles, avant-pop gripped by the throat—a soundtrack for dancing in debris, teeth clenched in a defiant grimace. A spiteful love song burning like an ignited fuse.

“The focus track of the album embodies aggression. With a pounding, abrasive bassline and a chorus that’s shouted at you: “What’s the point of giving less than 100%? You pushed me to the limit what the fuck you expect?”

Written over a three-year stretch between Los Angeles and Chicago, Percepticide: The Death of Reality traces the tremors of fragmentation and the slow, searing climb toward catharsis. It’s the sound of something breaking: personally, collectively…and something else clawing its way through the wreckage. Each member of Pixel Grip confronted their own collisions: betrayal, addiction, neglect, emotional collapse. The record rises from these ruins, a raw reckoning with perception, identity, connection, and what we dare to call reality. It moves like a body learning to walk again, bruised, burning, but forward. What’s left is a scorched sonic palette, equal parts demolition and rebirth.

“The album title itself is a portmanteau of “percipere” (to perceive) and “-cide” (to kill), signifying “the killing of perception,” says the band. “Percepticide: The Death of Reality is a visceral experience, a statement, and a call to redefine how we see the world. Percepticide is a cognitive distortion and a symptom of trauma – beliefs you hold to be true are shattered – as you question everyone and everything around you,” Lukea adds. “My dream is that expressing my rage can help someone else feel empowered and at the very least, less alone. You’re never stuck, and you’re never alone.”

Ihr 30-jähriges Bestehen feiern DARKEST HOUR mit einer Headline-Tour durch Europa. Im Herbst 2025 spielt die Metalcore-Band Shows in Köln, Bremen, Wiesbaden, Leipzig, Berlin, Nürnberg, Aarau (CH) sowie München. Gitarrist Mike Schleibaum kommentiert:

„Es fühlt sich unwirklich an, die Worte „30th Anniversary Tour“ zu schreiben, aber es geht los! Wir sehen uns diesen Herbst in der EU und UK, um 30 Jahre DARKEST HOUR zu feiern! Als wir 1995 anfingen, hatten wir keine Ahnung, wohin uns dieser wilde Ritt führen würde, wie sehr diese Band unser Leben bereichern würde, wie dankbar wir für alles sein würden und wie hungrig wir immer noch sein würden, die Party am Laufen zu halten. Die Osnabrücker Mittelalter Rocker RELIQUIAE veröffentlichen die zweite Single „Korinth“ aus ihrem neuen Album „Paranoia“, das am 20.06. bei Metalville erscheinen wird, um das 15-jährige Jubiläum der Band gebührend zu feiern. Das Album wurde produziert von Simon Michael (Producer von u.a. Feuerschwanz, Drummer bei Subway to Sally) und die CD kommt als edles Mediabook, das wieder von Thomas Ewerhard (arbeitete u.a. auch für Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir und Avantasia) gestaltet wurde. Das 20-seitige Booklet enthält sämtliche Texte kunstvoll handgeschrieben.

Der Song basiert auf der düsteren Ballade „Die Braut von Korinth“ (Goethe) über Liebe, Tod und das Übernatürliche.
„Korinth“ ist ein Rock-Metal-Track mit klaren Folk-Elementen. Schwere Metal-Riffs treffen auf virtuose Geigen-Melodien, erzählerische Strophen, bombastische Refrains und ein einzigartiges Solo im Wechselspiel von Geige und Dudelsack.

Die Hardcore / Death Metal-Band YOUR SPIRIT DIES hat mit „My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest“ ein neues Album herausgebracht. Es ist das erste Album der US-Amerikaner aus South Carolina, die davor zwei EPs veröffentlicht haben. Release-Termin war der 2. Mai 2025 via MNRK Heavy. Zum Release teilte man den Clip „Born Forsaken“.

Vorab gab es außerdem ein Musikvideo zu „Unjust God“ sowie einen Video-Clip zu „Serpentine“, wo Dan Weyandt (ZAO) als Gast zu hören ist.

Zur ersten Single „In the Depths of Grief“ äußerte sich Sänger Brandon Byars zudem wie folgt:

„Es ist etwas Persönliches. Meine Mutter ist einundsiebzig und sie ist gerade aus dem Krankenhaus zurückgekommen. In ‚In The Depths Of Grief‘ geht es darum, zu sehen, wie geliebte Menschen älter werden, verwelken und schließlich sterben. So weit ist sie noch nicht, aber sie hat schwere Herzprobleme. Als ich ein Teenager war, hatten wir unsere Differenzen. Ich habe rebelliert und mich in Dinge eingemischt, die ich wahrscheinlich nicht hätte tun sollen. Ich bin nicht mehr so wütend wie damals, und unsere Beziehung ist definitiv besser als je zuvor.“
